  1. A primer on the Lego set big bad reveal and the possible name misdirection. Apparently the big bad people have been hypothesizing for a while most associated with conquering the multiverse in Doctor Strange stories was first created in Conan stories predating Marvel which I didn't realize. https://www.gamesradar.com/shuma-gorath-what-if-marvel-mcu-doctor-strange-2-multiverse-of-madness/
  2. Definitely some of the highlights, no time for a full series watch though. I might not do it until they announce a full MCU Daredevil stint though.
  3. Unless I'm mis-interpreting it the post-credit scene in No Way Home appears to solidly establish the Sony-verse as a different universe from the MCU. Which doesn't surprise me; it's what I expected given that Feige doesn't want works in there that didn't cooperate with their own with the exceptions being the very best of the non-MCU characters including Daredevil, Kingpin, and Deadpool. So I have to assume Morbius is in the Sony-verse. I don't have high expectations for this film, but eh, I'm hoping for the best. Trailer is decent, but it doesn't give me confidence it still doesn't have plenty of room to be terrible.
  4. One of the best things about this film is it suddenly inspired me to want to go back and watch ALL of the others. Dafoe definitely had the best performance. ALL of the other ones were terrific as well, particularly Molina and Foxx. Garfield and Maguire did great too. Right now I rank this below Spider-Man 2 but above all the others, but I need to re-watch this and Spider-Man 2 to be sure of it.
  5. He spent the entire movie trying to fix what J Jonah Jameson described as the "chaos" and "destruction" that Spider-Man causes to the people he loves most, particularly Aunt May. Now nobody knows who he is, so he suddenly realized now nobody can be hurt. He should reveal himself to Happy though--that part wouldn't make ANY sense given how badly he'll struggle to get by without an identity.
  6. I am not a fan of multiverse stories, but who knows, I may eventually become one since it appears we'll be getting quite a bit of it from here on out. Or maybe not, and it's because the number of story holes they tend to leave are infinite. So here's my first multiverse question. In Spider-Verse I get it--Peter Parker got bit by the spider in his universe, Miles did in another, and Gwen did in another. But why would there be three completely different guys named Peter Parker, all with spider-powers, and all with an Aunt May? How can all of that be so similar yet they're all different guys with different DNA? Extreme coincidence?
  7. Wait...it's like Brock is just now learning that there are superheroes. In the Venom 2 post-credits scene he appears to see Spidey for the first time, and then in this new one the bartender is telling him about the Avengers. Why would Brock not know about any of them until now? Oh, wait...nevermind, I get it. It just came to me--he's from an alternate universe and just got sucked into the MCU-616-or-whatever-verse just like the other guys in the film were, and then when he disappears it's because that's when Strange cast his spell to cause everyone to get sent back to their own universe. So the Sony-verse is officially separate, then. And a drop of Venom is left behind in the MCU.
  8. Did anyone recognize any iconic Spidey villains in those tears in our universe that Strange kept sealing up in the last sequence right before he cast the spell to wipe Peter out of everyone's memory? I didn't, but I bet if you look at a freeze frame there are a LOT of deep cuts there to see.
  9. There's a post-credits scene in Venom 2 where he sees Spider-Man on television, and Spidey's vigilantism appeals to Brock. This one was supposed to be referencing that one, I think, although I don't remember the details of that one well enough to fully see his interest in Spider-Man.
  10. I didn't understand the first post-credits scene. How was Brock just now learning about the Avengers, and why did he just disappear?
  11. It's because of the Lego set that referenced that Namor villain. My guess is he's who we think he would be for multiple obvious reasons, but the characters don't know his name and someone in the film mistakenly refers to the other name as an Easter egg. But who knows, we'll see.
  12. Do you mean because of that Lego set that referred to him as that?
  13. Yep, best MCU film since Endgame and Far From Home. I've still only seen FFH once in the theater so I can't recall which of the two is better. Meant to re-watch it last night, but Amazon delivered my disc a day late, so I'll probably re-watch FFH tonight.
  14. As always it's more reasonable to just not go into a movie thread for a movie you haven't seen after it's released if you don't want to be spoilers. I'll be posting freely without spoiler tags myself.
  15. No, he hasn't, so grats on spoiling that. Recommend editing your post, and I'll hide your quote in a spoiler tag myself. Here's a pic if you don't mind being spoiled like I already was as an action figure fan who saw this get revealed earlier.
  16. Oh, and for you guys who are vaguely interested in Marvel Legends but haven't seen many or most of the figures I referred to in my best of 2021 lists--there's a great site named FigureList that serves as a fantastic visual reference for every Marvel Legends figure ever made. Here's a link to their list of figures from 2021: https://figurelist.co/marvel-legends-checklist/2021-waves/
  17. Here are my top Marvel Legends for 2021 in order of quality. It's lengthy and I know not everyone in this forum is interested in new releases, so I'll hide it in a spoiler tag to make it easier for people who aren't fans of Marvel Legends to skip it. Here's some posing I did of most of the figures from these lists while deciding which were the best.
  18. Diamond Marvel Select figures are also in a 7" scale. Hasbro has the master Marvel action figure license but primarily makes figures in a 6" (1:12) scale, so Diamond sub-leases their licensing through Hasbro for figures in the 7" (1:10) scale. The problem is that Select figures come out at about a tenth the rate of Hasbro's Marvel Legends so the character selection is comparatively shallow. My primary collecting is in the 6" scale for Marvel, although I do buy a few Select figures when it's a character that's typically large anyway so having them be a little bit larger isn't an issue. The Select figures I mix in with Legends include Destroyer, Titanium Man, the Brood, and Juggernaut. I buy a few major DC figures in the 6" scale from Medicom Mafex, but they're more expensive imports from Japan at about $80 to $100 per figure. But the Mafex quality, detail, and articulation is unparalleled for the scale. I'm impressed by the value McFarlane can pack in at a $20 price point. Their overall quality lags a bit behind Marvel Legends though. Articulation is worse, and they don't have face printing tech at all so when they make movie figures they never look much like the actors. The sculpt and paint on McFarlane figures is often fantastic, but inconsistently so with plenty of oddly-proportioned sculpts out there. There are many dozens of examples of McFarlane DC figures where they knocked it out of the park though.
  19. Oh, and fair warning--anyone who doesn't want to see spoilers needs to stay out of this thread starting on release day. I'd recommend staying out from now on just to be safe, but hey, you do you and get spoiled if you must.
  20. I'm insanely busy for the rest of the year and have almost no time to see this film. Was planning to see it in early January, but if there are massive spoilers there's probably no way I won't end up seeing them if I wait that long, so I'm taking a half-day on Friday and seeing it in the early afternoon. LOVE how Covid has forced theaters to do reserved seating. The reviews being so overwhelmingly positive is what pushed me over the edge for seeing it this week. Last time I'm clicking this thread until after I see it for fear of spoilers.
  21. Can't wait to see who the first critic will be to go all Armond White on this movie with a negative review. Always fun to see a critic get roasted alive by social media for a few days.
  22. If you crack Zartan open let us know how you like those extra faces, or heads, whichever they are. Even as a kid I found the action figures of him rather goofy...just changing your face yet still having the Zartan outfit never seemed like it would work to actually fool anybody.
  23. If you click the Rotten Tomatoes score you can see the average rating that's more equivalent to the Metacritic average. Usually the two sites have about the same average score, but right now RT is 8.1 out of 10 and Metacritic is 71 out of 100 which translates to 7.1 out of 10, so the RT critics so far are giving higher praise than the Metacritic ones. Those should get closer and closer as more scores come in since the highest RT ratings usually come in first. I'm not sure if Metacritic scores come in like that or not. Rotten Tomatoes used to just show the average rating by default right underneath of the Tomatometer score, but now it's hidden and you have to click it to see it. I wish they hadn't done that, but I assume it's because people found two scores confusing and if you know the difference then clicking to see it isn't as big a deal as the two-score confusion is for most people.
  24. Wow...SO much gushing praise. The contrast in quality between the Disney Plus shows and the films is just SO stark. There is an idea in Hollywood over the past five years or so that television series have risen dramatically in quality to the point where they're just as good or in some cases better than any films released the same year. But that's DEFINITELY not the case for Marvel's content...they're clearly producing their finest work as films. I enjoy the Disney Plus shows, but they're just fine and nowhere close to the epic level some of the films get to. You could skip them and you're not missing much, and none are all that re-watchable. But many of the films are can't miss and HIGHLY re-watchable, although certainly not all of them.
