  1. Been watching them both since they showed up. The 9.8 is from the notoriously overpriced seller, unfortunately. I even contacted him twice, but he won't budge. Just can't bring myself to go that high, especially when a 1 in 9.8 went for $445 recently... My search continues...
  2. Yes sir, that is one sweet comic. I'm kinda down because I recently realized my copy of Grendel 1 was only a 9.6, and I thought I had all 9.8s. The search continues for a copy of Grendel 2 though... Just wrote Matt Wagner again to ask if he would ever part with original art from the first appearances of Grendel, the Primer 2 and subsequent three issues... I do that every now and then, to no avail.
  3. Thanks RMA, you actually got my blood up. But I have a Primer 2 in 9.8 white already! Also have Grendel 1 and 3 in the same. What I need is a GRENDEL 2!!! The census is light on that one so it's giving me fits trying to complete the set, and is the reason I've included 9.6 in my search...
  4. I'm 8 years older than Primer 2... And still unable to find a Grendel 2 in 9.8 white!!! Damn!
  5. Brock was awesome, great communicator and helped me out big time when I needed funding for another obsessive search for a book... He picked up a nice CGC silver age from me, and it was a pleasure to deal with him.
  6. Gorgeous! I really have to delete my subscription to this thread...
  7. Don't know. You mean a stack of 9.8 slabs? Anyway, doesn't really matter, because I've already been able to secure a 9.8 of the 2 for a somewhat reasonable deal. Kind of excited about that actually. The books you had signed are not worthless, because they are for you, and should be special to you, even more so now with the personalization.
  8. Just bumping this thread in the hopes of tracking down a Primer 2 in 9.8 with white pages. Running all over the boards pestering people along the way. Not going to join the club, but do want a 2...
  9. Absolutely awesome seller, perfect grading, great communication, and quick and secure packaging. Thanks a ton! Love these FF issues and that one random G.I. Joe goodness!
  10. A quick announcement: After a fun first sales thread, and now an abysmal second thread, here's what's coming up... I'll be cataloging my final 18 short boxes throughout the night, for my final total of 54 full shorts that have to go. After that is complete, I will open one final sales thread and throw only the "good stuff" in there. Stuff I feel is worthy of your attention. However, please feel free to ask away if there is anything in particular you are looking for. Once again, I don't want to break up complete runs to sell anyone one book for a dollar, but I am very open to offers on lots and such. I need to blow these out the door, amass some funds for my "grail," and then send the rest to Lone Star. Hopefully this all works out and I have my spare room back by the end of June. So look for that! And please buy buy buy!
  11. That is indeed an awesome cover. The Torch is my favorite, as evidenced by my screen name of 15 years now... Nice pickup!
  12. Added two new books to my 1-100 run before I really try to emphasize the 1-25 part of this endeavor. The 48, I picked up off of eBay and while I didn't have the intention of having any place holders, there are a few things I don't love about the book. With my satisfaction for the 7.0's I already have, I thought this would be the same, but something is lacking, and there is a small bit of pencil writing on the back too. Well, anyway here you go, 2 more bringing me to a whopping 6 total graded... 48 in 7.0, already talked about it enough. 74 in 9.0 which I'm really happy with and some of you may recognize because it has kicked around the board a bit. Now it is home to stay.

  14. I'm going to begin the task of listing my 5000+ comic collection tonight... With 26 short boxes cataloged, and 30 left to go, I have come to the realization that if I did submit my collection to Lone Star for one lump sum, I would probably be bent over, or even appalled at the offer that might result. So I have come to the conclusion that I must at least give an attempt to move the issues in sets, or otherwise, by another method. The 26 shorts I have cataloged thus far account for 2842 issues in total, so I can only assume that over the course of 25 years of collecting I have roughly 5000 books ready to be sold off. I'm new to the board, but have arrived here with the intention of completing a run of FF. So here is where I can begin to fill my paypal coffers. Hopefully some of you will find something you need, want, or desire to add to your own personal collections. I collected heavily from 1985-1993, and then again during 1996-1997, and then in true earnest from 2002 to the present. A couple of collections have been collated into mine, and I almost don't even know what will present itself. The collection has overrun my guest bedroom. They have to move out. I'll work on shipping pricing between now and the beginning of my sale thread, and will likely post in the mixed age area, since my comics cover early 70's to present day. The bulk of my modern collection was handpicked by me while working on new comic day at my LCS. All have been bagged an boarded since day one, and many many are unread as I was buying duplicates and not reading every title which I collected. I also have a database of the first 26 boxes, if anyone wants to take a peek at it and make an offer on runs of books. I'm hoping to keep things in manageable sets, and will determine how many will fit in a priority box this evening as well. Free comics with every purchase! Look for my sale thread later tonight! And thanks!
  15. Excellent service, and prompt attention to a problem with shipping. Thanks!
  16. Amazing book, and congratulations on you completion. As I just restarted this month what I began 25 years ago, and should never have abandoned, I can see this taking me perhaps up to ten years to complete. And that is with the lofty goal of 7.0 or better (barring 1 & 5)... Congratulations!
  17. I love 'em gang, but they're going to drive me into the poor house!
  18. So, I'm totally new to collecting CGC, but I'm off an running with my FF run. I would like to ultimately have 1-100 in CGC, but am after a complete run. Since starting only this month, I've narrowed my focus from the 1-100 to 1-50, with more interest in 1-25 for now. Although I did just pick up a 48 from eBay in 7.0 which will arrive next week. For the time being these are my first four: 9 in 7.0, once I determined that I could live with the 7.0 grade, I went after this one, especially to get the need for a single digit issue out of my system. And it does not disappoint! 13 in 7.0, very pleased with this one, from the board! 59 in 9.4, from a fellow board member, but before I found the board I guess. My first one! 82 in 9.4, learned from this one to read the labels more carefully, because this one is cream to off white, and I think I would like to stay in the ow/w range...

  20. Somehow, I don't see myself paying thousands of dollars for an FF run, and not displaying them somehow. Even if it means keeping the room darkening blinds down the entire day in my home office / collection room. I obviously don't want to keep them in the direct Las Vegas sunlight, but I want to see them too. I would like to be able to keep them on display in my collection cabinets, and keep them safe simultaneously. I suppose I could apply UV protection on the glass cabinet doors...
