  1. Actual time for a 40 day turn around. Wow, after 59 (business) days, I finally have scheduled for grading in my status for 3 lots of my books I submitted back on March 28th. When I called to inquire about the delay they said they are running aprox. 2 weeks or 10 business days behind schedule. But, out of all that is bad in waiting for my books to be graded, there is a silver lining. I recently submitted 2 higher end silver age comics to be signed by Stan Lee back in March of this year. One being a excellent copy of FF#1 it was a 7.5 graded before the signature and my gamble paid off and it kept it's grade of 7.5. The second book surprised me a bit more than the the FF keeping it's grade,as it was submitted as a 5.5 purple label book with slight color touch. It was a Avengers #4 and my father had it signed by Jack Kirby on the inside cover back in the mid 80's. Sadly CGC will not cert. the signature since they were not in business back in the 80's and have to visually see the person sign the book to get the yellow label. But, I thought it would be cool to have Stan sign this book as well. When I went to pick the book up at CGC in Sarasota, the restoration grade was dropped completely, and I now have a complete yellow label (no purple at all), with a note stating Jack Kirby writing on 1st page. I never changed anything to the book, and submitted the book in the purple case that it was originally issued to me the 1st time I had it submitted. Just a question does this happen alot? Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Interesting story and well worth the waiting game if so..... To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 2. Got grades released from my 2nd round of submissions to CGC. WOW, OH WOW was I surprised when I got back home today from work. It has been over 25 business days since I submitted my 2nd round of CGC books. Since I submitted my 2nd round of submissions under the modern tier I was expecting to get the grades a bit quicker than the 3 free issues I submitted at the same time. But, after I received the grades I got today it was worth waiting for! The books I submitted were as follows: Batman and Robin #1 (Sketch variant) Amazing Spider-man #289 Secret Wars #8 Sandman #1 Wolverine #1 Daredevil #181 I thought the issues would have received the following grades, Batman and Robin #1 (sketch variant)----9.6 Amazing Spider-man #289----9.6 Secret Wars #8----9.6 Sandman #1----9.4-9.6 Wolverine #1----9.4-9.6 Daredevil #181----9.2-9.4 But, today when I got home I couldn't believe how many 9.8's I received. These are the CGC grades on the comic books I submitted. Batman and Robin #1 (sketch variant)----CGC graded 9.8 Amazing Spiderman #289----CGC graded 9.6 Secret Wars #8(1st black costume)----CGC graded 9.8 Sandman #1(1989)----CGC graded 9.8 Wolverine #1(1988)----CGC graded 9.8 Daredevil #181(Death of Electra)----CGC graded 9.6 This being my second submissions, I have had pretty good turn outs, but always go over my comics with a fine-tooth-comb. I always say look over your comics very finally before submitting, so you won't be to disappointed at the grades, but really couldn't believe I would ever have gotten this many 9.8's in one set of submissions! 3. What the grades of the 1st of many CGC books that I have had graded. Well I really am new to this CGC grading experience. And always considered myself a good pretty good grader of comic books, that I purchased. I have recently consent rated on only golden and silver age comic purchasing. And submitted 3 of my older comics(from my 3-free coupon with my premium membership). The issues were: Batman #4 Batman #8 Detective #58 I put the grades I thought the books would get next to the books on the submission form, and watched and waited online for my grades to appear. As I expected my grades were almost dead on(minus 1 exception). My Grade /: CGC Grade Batman #4 3.0 Off-white /: 3.0 White/Off-white Batman #8 5.5 Off-white /: 6.5 White/Off-white(small color touch) Detective #58 3.0 Off-white /: 3.0 Off-white Although most people would be upset about the, "purple label of death" or the slight restore, I am not that put out. That issue of Batman is one of my Favorite covers(minus Batman #1, & Batman #11), and just really like the fact that it got the grade of 6.5! I now have a few more comics sent in and will post my grades and CGC grades after they are graded. Hey I may try to apply for a job, they are only a few minutes from my house, Ha! Thanks for reading!
