  1. Another home run by Marvel. 4 1/2 out of 5 Stars. On par with GOTG.
  2. +1,000,000 It was good, but certainty wasn't the masterpiece it was made out to be. People must really be bored with super hero movies by the praise this is getting. Once again it was good, but no way a 98 percent Rotten Tomatoes is giving it. Myself, this was the movie that has made me be tired of blockbuster movies. I had just done three weekends of back to back blockbusters with Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Mad Max . As I was watching Mad Max I realized to myself that these movies are basically all the same smash ems ups like a video game. I rather play a video game than watch a video game. Once again Mad Max was a good movie, but no way is it great. I think it`s being praised because people are getting sick of superhero movies, and with Mad Max although is basically the same thing did have a R rating which some adults want. The adults want their action to be a little more violent than the generic family oriented movie. So yeah Mad Max a good movie, but it`s not something I would qualify as a masterpiece. Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and X-Men: Days of Future Past were so much better. IMHO. Ditto! Didn't knock my socks off. It was good, not great. I went in with high expectations and it didn't come close to meeting them. I don't understand the 98% critics and 92% user ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Waaay overrated!
  3. It's a tough book period. But, there are still a lot of BA collections out there, and by it's nature (even with the internet) it is a very personal and private affair. This is the one book I have never found in 9.4+ in any DC/Batman centric collection I have picked up. The main Batman issues (227, 232, 234, 251, etc.) and Tec issues (395, 400) are easy to land in high grade, but the post-400 Tec books tend to be hit and miss condition wise in the collections. Tec #405 (1st League of Assassins) is another tough book in high grade (9.4+). They are out there. I bought two beautiful raw copies out of OO collections over the past 10 years. One slabbed out 9.8 white and the other in my collection is 9.4/9.6. Still haven't found a 9.4+ Tomahawk 116 though. Now that's a tough Adams book in true NM or better. Kept this one since the 9.8 had a miswrap. Gorgeous copy! The best I have done with private OO collections is a 9.0ish copy. My old 9.2 was a purchase from Brian/foolkiller a few years back. The problem I find locally is that most Batman collectors up here upgraded/took better care of their Batman run issues and considered the Tecs to be less important to their collections. I have noticed a shift the past few years from Adams collectors wanting both titles at the local shows to them primarily going after only the Batman run........ A few years ago, a board member offered raw copies of 401-411 as a group for $120. This was among them... You're welcome! Who is the woman tied at the stake?
  4. Marvel did MAKE this, so they dont need to learn from themselves, its so good BECAUSE they know exactly what they are doing, not by some fluke or accident. All of the Netflix shows will be different, but have the same grounded, adult style, that daredevil has, that is the world they have chosen to create for this endeavor, and because Netflix is the best vehicle to deliver it. I KNOW Marvel made this. Just hoping Marvel uses same template for the rest. Daredevil is a home run. Hopefully, so will the other Netflix shows. Marvel also made Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 3. Although 3 made a boatload of money I don't think it came close to 1 in quality. That was all I was trying to convey.
  5. Hopefully, Marvel uses this Daredevil as a production model to rinse and repeat for all the other Netflix series. Maybe move Agents of Shield to Netflix. Daredevil was well done. Just like first Iron Man movie. Glad I lived to see childhood comics come to life on both the big and small screens with such fidelity to the source material.
  6. Just finished rewatching all 13 episodes. Just as good the second time around. I did see they gave special thanks to Frank Miller in credits along with other artists and writers. Glad they did.
  7. I would watch this series again before I watch the Nolan Batman trilogy again. And I love the Nolan Batman!
  8. Home run to me! My 1 and only complaint is Frank Miller deserves credit! Joesie's bar, Stick, Turk etc... The whole season brought my childhood back. Frank Miller's fingerprints are all over this series. I can only guess he didn't want to be associated with it and refused credit.
  9. Yep, he pretty much kamikaze'd his career. It will be interesting if AMC puts out a statement distancing themselves. Yep. Self inflicted career injury.
  10. No Inglourious Basterds?!? 3rd Act? Studios might rethink using this arse.
  11. Stuff I don't have, but want. Or stuff I want, but can't afford. Got to try and use reverse psychology to bring prices down.
  12. Number 1 again at box office. Don't see anything until ASM2 that will knock it off the top spot.
  13. AGREED. Loved seeing him in this. True legend. Not a baseball fan and dislike Redford's politics, but "The Natural" is one of my top 10 movies. Glad to see him doing well. Just watched Winter Soldier again. First time with wife. She thought it was ok, but didn't understand what Shield and Hydra was all about. Tried to explain it is sort of like CIA versus KGB and the KGB infiltrated the CIA. I didn't do a very good job. She said Bourne Identity is much better. She actually nodded off a couple times during the slow parts.
  14. Great movie!!! I would put it in range of Iron Man 1, Avengers, Dark Knight trilogy, Superman 1&2, Blade 1&2 and Spider-Man 1&2. Didn't walk away feeling let down and cheated like Iron Man 2&3, Green Lantern, Kilmer/Clooney Batmans and Superman Returns.
  15. Sorry, but that information is classified and on a need to know basis. Only the inner circle is allowed to know all the details of this matter. Now just move along and forgot this whole thread even exists. If everyone would just stop posting this whole matter will be considered resolved and everything is as it should be.
  16. This thread will end just like the last one about the JIM #83. Shrouded in mystery.
  17. This scares me. It appears CGC is going to be bombarded with resubmitted PLOD's, trying to slip it past them, and then come on here and say 'I told you so'. I hope all of you waste a lot of money and still get the PLOD and a lower grade. CGC, if you are listening, to put a stop to all this nonsense I would start grading tight, tight, tight. Let the resubs take a beating and slow this train down for a while. I would think having a system in place to really check any books submitted from the top 100 Golden Age, top 50 Silver Age and Top 20 Bronze Age get compared to scans of previously graded comics in similar grade. Or maybe all comics worth $5,000 or more. With the technology today it shouldn't be that difficult or time consuming, should it? Maybe have a hit list using census data of books that have a high number of restored copies that get extra scrutiny. Something like that might help with consistency. May biggest issues are with the ability or lack thereof to detect restoration and what is or is not being done to address the problem. I would also like to know who submitted the book the last time and get their side. Or at least I would like to know if this is a high volume CGC customer or someone that just submits a few comics to be graded. Taking a risk of getting a high value comic downgraded to become less valuable seems like something that a person who has only submitted a few comics to CGC would NOT do. Big risk to roll the dice unless you are fairly sure of the outcome before you do it.
  18. Get this-one dude was convicted on a tiny, half pencil-eraser size piece from a dollar bill. He robbed, shot and killed his victim. One of the bullets went through victim's rt front pocket, and clipped off a tiny piece of the bill. A really good CSI tech (and no they do NOT interview suspects-they'd be fired for that!) picked the tiny piece of paper from the pocket, realizing its importance. When the suspect was apprehended, the bill in his possession was matched by stereomicroscope to the fragment.... Need Dexter to get to the bottom of this.
  19. Hopefully, an official statement includes details instead of a statement that everything was resolved with no facts or details on what was done to resolve the matter. I am concerned that the guy that resubmitted the PLOD 7.0 either just played the odds that CGC wouldn't detect the restoration because they can't consistently or he was a high volume submitter that got special treatment. Really hoping on another answer that makes sense. A statement that the matter has been resolved, but no details doesn't do the people who own CGC graded comics any good.
  20. Before I read all this is the resolution gonna be hush hush and the thread die like last time? Starting a thread and person_without_enough_empathying about something then not providing any details on how it was resolved off thread is BS. If everything is on the up and up telling the whole truth should be a problem.
