  1. The problem is that the Red Sonja #25 blank cover has so much gloss on it that it's almost impossible to do a sketch on it. Paul Abrams did a nude one for me last year, and he person_without_enough_empathyed the whole time. I even gave him two copies in case he screwed one up. There are some nice DF ones done by Pablo Marcos, but I think the sketch was transferred to the comic and not done directly on it. They're around $100.00. Some of the others I've seen are pretty horrible to say the least. Ebas did one of the variants for issue #16, and it's pretty bad . Another problem is getting a high grade copy from Dynamite. I think they play frisbee with their comics before they ship them.

  2. Hey, it's still cheaper than that Red Sonja #7 SS on Pedigree. I never bid on that #3. Just sat there watching with my jaw hanging open. I usually just wait 'til Sunday to see where everything is at, but I kept checking on that one. I just couldn't believe my eyes. I figured I'd just grab the one from Metropolis, but it was sold. I thought that's the one you got. They never did respond to my counter-offer on the #7, but $200.00 is just effing nuts. Two and a half months later it still sits there. Calling to me. I think we need counseling.

  3. Yeah, I put in a bid on the #24, but was summarily outbid in an instant. Honestly, I don't care for the spine on it with the white stripe from the back showing on the front. I have seen better 9.8's. Still, I may put one more in before it ends only because at the current price, it's cheaper than any other one out there. I'm with you on the #33. Seems crazy, but stranger things have happened as you know. Like that Marvel Feature #3 on HA a few months ago.

  4. In the Marvel Universe, Spidey gets the black suit in Secret Wars 8 and wears it for the rest of the war, which is an undefined period of time. He evidently has had it for awhile when he is returned to earth in issue 252 after the SW ends.

So SW8 is where he first wears it, even though he'd been shown wearing it for months by the time SW8 came out.

Just a thought, but as Spiderman 252 was an almost immediate sellout everywhere, the other two books were most likely the first chance the public got at the suit.

On Long Island, the newstand version came out three weeks after the direct copy and every shop owner I know cleaned out every place they could find that sold comics. Very few, if any, copies of 252 made it to newstands in my area.

Prior to the Marvel Age sneak peak, retailers had seen a version in a Marvel preview newsletter, and Carol Kalish already had business cards with a black suited Spidey.

Very interesting. Here in Florida I never saw the black suit until Web Of SM #1 almost a year later. It was probably the first comic I had bought since about '78 or '79. Before that I had traded my runs of Conan and Ghost Rider for an ASM #1. The next day my teacher yoked it from my back pocket and ripped it up. Basically my collection was lost in one day. Interesting thing is that in '79, ASM #1 was younger than Web Of #1 is now, but even then it's value was clear. Of course we were kids then, and condition wasn't as important as the stories, but what I wouldn't do to have my ASM #1, Conan #1, and Ghost Rider #1 right now.

  5. These are from 2007 I think. Dynamite ran a ten issue series of Savage Tales feat. Red Sonja. Of course there's a billion covers for each issue, but these are the virgin covers for #1 and #2. Pretty hard to find, and usually the only ones to fetch anything more than cover price. There'a also a virgin cover for #3 by Stjepan Sejic, but not as sexy as these two.

  6. This could be the hardest to find red sonja (along with 19)

I am not sure it even exists in CGC

Yeah, I've been watching that one for months. I think it reprints Savage Sword of Conan #1 in color.

In case you haven't seen it yet there's this. Although I don't know why they're being sold as a lot. The 9.8 looks nice.

  7. Yeah, I saw that one yesterday. The last one on Comic Link went for $152.00 On 6/28/12, but the last few have been around and over $200.00. Believe it or not, I got mine for $139.00 as a best offer on eBay. So it's hard to say because there's not a lot of people going after these, but there's always the #1 issue collectors. $190.00 sounds about right, but I would be surprised if it went over $200.00. My guess would be around $175.00.

  8. Alright, nice job Gyro-1! Although I still think you should have gone mixed age with this. Some of the rarer Dynamite's can fetch quite a bit. A 9.8 #2 Frank Brunner SS just sold for $139.00, and it's not even a rare variant. Of course it was the signature that the buyer was after I'm sure. Still, some great artwork on that cover.

Hey, have you ever seen the virgin covers for Savage Tales 1 and 2? Arthur Suydam artwork is amazing.

So the She Devil With A Sword has her own thread now. This should be interesting. Hopefully it's not just you and I posting. Rock on!

Oh, and before I forget, Gyro-1 was the winner of the 2012 Best In Set for Marvel Feature Vol.2 Feat. Red Sonja. So give him some props! (worship)
