  1. But I want them.......

    lol

Make him an offer he can't refuse...And prepay then have a CAW Facilitator pick it up from him halfway through the last day of SDCC and submit to CGC SS?

i'm going to take a wild guess and say that Adonis knows the process...

i'd like to see that Thanos after it has been colored!

  2. To all the sellers who try to get around paying the Paypal fees, I want you to know that it's a huge turn off, and, while I hesitate to say "I'll never buy from you!!! :sumo:" so far I have refused to do so. For instance, there are some early Spideys for sale right now. I'd buy two if not all three of them if the seller would just handle his Paypal business better.

    You have two options:

    1. Eat the cost. It's a cost of doing business, so deal with it.

    2. Factor the fees into your asking price. Is that so hard to do?

When you ask me to pay your fees, or to send the money to you as a gift, thereby leaving me no recourse should the deal go south, you lose my business. I just thought people might be interested to know.

I'm not the only one, right?

I accept PayPal, and eat the costs, and figure it into pricing.

PayPal is the bad guy though, please remember that. It doesn't take 3+% in fees to perform the virtual zero labor of handling millions of dollars in transactions per day. Banks don't make 1/50th of the profit as PayPal does per man hour of labor etc, IMO.

I'm sure that you and many have noticed a post I have made suggesting the best way to handle the fees. I doubt many have ever done what I suggested, or even thought of it. Someone should contact PayPal, and not bash fellow members. PayPal is the bad guy, did I say that already?

"bad guy"? I disagree with that. They provide a service for which sellers on this forum utilize heavily. They charge what they charge. It is unfortunate, indeed, that there is no other company that performs this service (there are others, just not used as heavily as paypal - e.g. Amazon's service) that would provide some compentition and potentially lower their %. I actually prefer to receive regular as it is much easier to ship/track.

I have no problem, on the other hand, when sellers request payment via money order/check; however, when I am requested or asked to pay via personal paypal prior to and especially AFTER claiming the book it turns me off and annoys me.

  3. I suppose you're right. I just don't like the idea of being responsible for someone ending up in the Probation list and not being able to buy/sell on the site. I don't want them nominated, I'd just like some resolution. Even if the answer is just "I don't want to sell my comics to you". I'd be disappointed, but that would be enough to end it for me. I don't understand being intentionally avoided.

The seller was "cheetah", and the sales thread was here:

I posted the first "Take It" on 3/4/12, sent the first PM inquiry on 3/31/12, the second on 4/23/12, the third on 4/28/12 and then as suggested earlier here, on 4/29/12 sent an entirely new PM copying the contents of the first PM string in its entirety with a link to the sale and a note saying I was just making sure they hadn't accidentally removed themselves from the previous PM. Only the PM from 3/31/12 was read. Even the new PM from 4/29/12 was not.

For once, I'll keep my mouth shut and let others say their piece and deal with this. I don't want anything I say misconstrued or thought as me taking it personal because of prior dealings.

I'm sure he'll either see this or someone will pm him and he will respond (thumbs u

Nobody will say anything about any well established members here. The pl is a little funky in that aspect and i feel it only targets a certain group of members but I'm sure cheetah will speak on his behalf and clear it up.

Not questioning the validity of your opinion, nor arguing with you; but it could be, alternatively, that in order to be respected as a "well established member," that individual as gained the reputation of fulfilling his commitments on these boards.

I understand that many first time sellers and/or "noobies" (even though I hate that classification), are nominated or discussed here - that makes sense though. Those individuals have failed to make a reputation on these boards prior to entering into an obligation here and when they mess up or fail to carry through with their obligations, they are brought to the attention of the community (sooner than that of a reputable member). AND, where many members have not dealt with that new individual, they have no basis on saying an opinion other than what is reported. On the other hand, an established member has a wealth of individuals that would come to their defense (not as their friend, but as someone who has previously dealt with them).

As an FYI - I purchased some ASM books during his first listing (< issue #300 or something along those lines) and also during the same time you did. I payed separately as he gave me some time to pay for the, then, newly listed books. I received the first batch honestly within 3 days of payment. I have yet to receive the second, but am not at all concerned with the possibility of not receiving my order. Cheetah posted, publically, after the fact that he had some opportunities for his company that needed attention (purchasing of a new office building, I believe) - this was done in a GA/SA sales thread. So, with my previous dealings with him supproting my opinion, I have confidence that this purchase will be completed.

The fact that he has not read nor removed himself from your PMs, leads me to believe you are in the same boat as I.

Your concern is right and most definitely justified, and I do not mean to explicitely or implicitely say otherwise. Just thought I would add to the "probation" discussion with my experience/opinion on this sales thread and seller.

  5. His stuff is badazz, for sure.

How much does he charge? How much would it cost (total) for a sketch of similar quality to what people are posting along with all the CGC Sig Series fees?

    $375 just for the sketch + $5 blank + $30-40 CGC'd

he just started this rate recently. His prices in February were $130 for marker and $200 for acrylic, even with 2 characters :)

That's crazy prices! I got into the mix in the bracket before the current, but it was nothing like that!

  6. Clayton showed me that Deadpool on his phone and commented that that one was his favorite he had done and that he had fun with that one!

    Congrats, my friend!

    Post your Boston Crains

You don't have to ask me twice lol

  7. DUDE!!!

Where are you getting all of these Weapon X covers? Did Clayton hook you up?

I'm convinced this guy just has a amazing stack of HI blanks in a box at his house.

It's okay if he gave them to you, I got a few Vampirella blanks from an artist not too long ago.

I looked up my notes and it was ebay seller Boondock. He had some Hulks, Spideys and Weapon X blanks. I have a few with Clayton and a few Hulks still stashed away.

Boondock Collectibles - the guys over there a great! i will give them a quick email tonight to see what they have left and if they are on these boards.

Last time we spoke, he just got in ~8 New Avengers Hero Initiative blanks.

  8. I apologize if this has already been posted (100+ pages is quite a bit to jump into), but figured I'd contribute a cool print that a seller threw into a purchase some time last year...

Not a huge western fan, but this one is awesome!

One of those sold on eBay just last month and it was initialed by Dave himself. I got outbid at the last minute.

that sucks! i hate when that happens!

  9. I rarely post here, but would like to start doing so more often...

these trickled in over the past couple of weeks (only check my PO box about once a month, so it's kind of like christmas when i do).

these are the two comics i was most excited about from the batch!

  10. Great news! I spoke to Clayton Crain personally yesterday and he told me that he will be at Emerald City later this month. He got his own booth as an exhibitor and is listed on the site but not as a guest.

The even greater news (it's a joke grammar police) is that he will be doing commissions.

I checked his site and added him to all the shows he had listed. (thumbs u

As an FYI, Clayton is starting/intends to start commissions for Boston this week - he had communicated to me that he will start Boston commissions mid-March for the end of April show. Just a gauge for those interested in acquiring a commission from him. Of course there is always the opportunity to simply have the item mailed, but this audience prefers the slab!

This is an awesome thread, btw!
