I'm not certain. My guess is that there was no difference. There were more than enough copies floating around to end up in giveaways, and the VHS was released back in 1992. I seriously doubt there was a special printing.

    @Lobstrosity

    Maybe Trent will know?

That's correct - there was no difference in the Spawn #1 included with the VHS vs any other Spawn #1 you could buy on the street. The "Crusade of Comics" book was the exclusive one.

I'd argue that none of these are "appearances" in the traditional sense of the word as used in comics collecting, but appreciate all the work.

Any chance you're the same Lobstrosity that plays on Conquer Club?

    Yes, one and the same

I am sorry about your financial hardship/challenged but i congratulated you for making money through HA.

I know nearly four month SAG/AFTRA strike was tough especially living in LA area which is not cheap to live in.

I can relate you because I was on strike at Columbia College of Chicago since October 30th.  CFAC (unionized Adjunct Faculty) ended 50 days of strike by reaching the tentative agreement with Columbia College on December 17th.  CFAC members voted upon the ramifications recently and unanimously approved the agreement.  It affected my financial but it's rather temporary too.  I thought the strike would have last through Spring Semester and was about to option out of the union but I am happy with the outcome early.

Hopefully SAG/AFTRA won't see other strike for a time being as mine.

Yes with any luck it will be a long time. The last one I went through was back in 2008 (Writers), so it had been a while. This year was a one-two punch with both the Writers and SAG unfortunately. Congrats on yours ending early!

Would you mind sharing a breakdown of type (cover, panel page, strip etc) and price range? I recently put in a panel page to HA at the last minute and they shoehorned it into the Nov featured, but the value was 10K+. I'm going to cycle about 20-30 more pages of lesser value thru them, and having an understanding of what their potential listing thresholds are (featured vs weekly, sooner rather than later) would be helpful. For example, do you know why your first 10 were listed vs the last 10? Or were the choices on their part completely random?

The biggest items were in the November auction, although none made it into the 'platinum session'

November pieces ranged from 3k -25k+

Weekly items topped out between 5-7k

There were covers, double-page splashes, splashes, interiors, pinups, and commissions represented. All were in both venues except for commissions (weekly only).

  5. Based on the 1st two auctions, it didn't seem the market was lower at all.

After that though, things definitely went downhill. I think it was partially due to the proximity to Christmas, but also partially due to the weekly auction format (and what I imagine is) a much smaller audience for those.

I do think having them run earlier in the fall would have helped a bit.

  6. Several X-Men related auctions on HA.com this week, all ending Wednesday Dec. 20th!

An incredibly rare drawing of Angel (Warren Worthington III) by manga and X-Men artist Kia Asamiya. X-art by this artist is nearly impossible to find, and this is a large, fantastic example.

Right after the departure of Jim Lee, Art Thibert stepped in to pencil the adjective-less X-Men title. Here's an excellent page from issue #13, featuring Cyclops, Beast, and Gambit.

A really unique page from Salvador Larocca with pencils, inks, and grey tone ink all on one board! The center panel is one of my favorites, with Apocalypse burying Ozymandias into the wall with his fist.

  7. My last round of auctions this year (maybe decade), all ending this Wednesday Dec. 20th!

An excellent page of Scott Pilgrim from issue #4 by Bryan Lee O'Malley: in which Scott sees his current flame and his ex going out to chat (and possibly talk about him!). Features Scott Pilgrim, Julie Powers, Lisa Miller, Kim Pine, Ramona Flowers, and Jason Kim, all at Sneaky Dee's Diner.

A rare and very nice illustration of Concrete by his creator Paul Chadwick. Really captures the character in a single image.

Here's a fantastic double page splash of Angel (Warren Worthington III) from 'Professor X and the X-men". All of the word balloons are on acetate overlays and the piece can be displayed with or without them (they can fold over the top)
