  1. Glad to hear your Dad's on the mend.

You didn't really miss all that much at the weekend. Just beer, comics and Stan Lee.

There will always be next year (Speaking to most of the dealers, business was very good and well worth the travel).

The beer and books will always be there and you never have to work too hard to get a Stan Lee sig. I was discussing with Bane, which is harder, finding a Marvel key with a Stan sig or without???

    Cheers

Glad you had a good time...Didn't Stan have a 'Senior' moment and signed the Mylar instead of your comic

Stan is nearly 90 now so it was a major coup to get him to come over. (worship)

Fingers crossed for the London Con becoming the premier annual event in the UK for years to come.

  2. Well I'm still in Wales!

I missed the Con and the rugby :( but my dad is now out of hospital (he had a fall and has broken his collar bone) so that's a relief!

Glad to hear that everybody who went to the con had a great time :)

Glad to hear that your dad is OK :wishluck:

    Thanks

  3. I will take pics, but not of scantily clad women, If my Mrs saw them, she would give me a swift kick in the knackers.

I'll take the pics of the scantily clad women then, and if they're lucky, back at my hotel room too (:

    :headbang:

I'd stick my neck out and say if Bane manages to entice a scantily clad female back to his digs it would be a first on this board and he'd be seen as the con's ^^

  4. right im alittle drunk, had day off and went to Geek Expo, its a retro video game show in Margate, i won a Micro Machines tournament, and lost in the semi final of FIFA "through the years" tournament, when it got to the newer ones i was awful.

also completed TMNT "turtles in time" game

I read that you went to a Greek Expo

Damn this scrumpy is powerful stuff (thumbs u

haha, you thought i went smashing plates?

Yeah pretty much...and drinking ouzo

Ah ...... ouzo. Brings back memories. :cloud9:

Or half memories at least. :tonofbricks:

Had the worst hangover ever from drinking ouzo as a teenager so I now give it a wide, wide berth! :tonofbricks:

  7. I doubt I will be buying anything at the con, I’ll just be picking up stuff I bought months ago, nothing substantial, just a Bat #181 9.4 and a Bat #232 9.8…

I’ve got an ASM something or other to get off F_T to be signed by Stan and then CGC’d so will be a while before I get my hands on that little piece of history.

I’m bringing some books for Dai so if anyone else is interest in anything from my 5,000 collection let me know and I’ll send lists out?

Still toying with the idea of having a Swamp Thing signed by Wrightson but its too low grade to really be worth slabbing but then whats the point of an unverified sig.

I actually think for a sig series, the grade is less important than the sig. In other words, where you wouldn't normally get a non key bronze age book in say 6.0 slabbed, if the writer or artist is signing it and it's getting a yellow label, then that makes it worthwhile.

Also, if you've got an eye on profit, getting a CGC yellow label with an in demand sig can add value to an otherwise (more or less) worthless book. 2c

hm you raise an interesting point

  8. Bat #181 9.4... :o (thumbs u

    Bat #232 9.8:o(worship)

That's the main reason why I haven't been bothered with getting anything signed in the past (shrug)

  9. I won't be setting up this year at the show as I'm only just setting up in business as "The Comic Box" but I can bring some stuff if anyone wants anything that I'm selling. Already bringing my slabbed Iron Man # 1 along as a US boardie has agreed to buy it and I've got about 15,000 more comics to sell. hm

    Hi Gaz

Good luck with setting up the business, be sure to tell us UK boardies when you have everything up and running.

    cheers

    Dai

  10. What is everyone after at the show, I am hoping for loads of HG Marvel bronze, maybe some of the more obscure titles, 1 or 2 HG Marvel silver and plenty of Marvel B+W magazines that nobody else gives to about.....Oh! And my bags and boards from Hotflips.

Just had my memory jogged in another thread so will now also be keeping my eyes peeled for 'Tales of the Zombie' Mags

  11. Quick question: did David LLoyd do the cover art for any issues of Warrior Mag? I'm trying to find something to get him to sign.

    Thanks.

    Hope this helps

    David Lloyd

Thanks for the link (thumbs u. Weird though, because it gives David LLoyd a cover credit for Warrior # 11, but according to Dez Skinn who is selling a NM copy on ebay, the cover was by Gary Leach. Confused.com (shrug)

hm That is confusing but I suppose Dez Skinn would be in the know (shrug)

  12. What the ? Where did everyone go? (shrug)

After some technical glitches I'm back.

Very similar to you in that my main focus will be relatively HG bronze age plus bags and boards. Looking at early Defenders issues (#10 in particular) plus Byrne era UXM. As for DC I'll be after some nice Jim Aparo stuff!

  13. Saying that I'm tea total for the next few days

Best get those drinking muscles back into training.11 Days to go...

    :whee:

Was the rugby any better live than on TV?? At one point I was about to curl up into a small ball and try and drink myself into a Guiness-based oblivion.

Well the 2nd half was a lot better than the first!...but it was the result that counted :whee:
