  1. Yeah, those guys are great. I still think you'd like Tony Levin. Here he is doing Black Dog (Zepp)...check out what he's doing on the bass.
  2. It's just your basic, straight-up, rock-n-roll ditty. But since it doesn't have a stripper using auto-tune with backup dancers, this dinosaur has nowhere to go.
  3. Long Black Road So, last night I'm watching Supernatural, and this amazing song comes on. It sounds like Jeff Lynne or early ELO, but I'd never heard it before. I had to find it. After perusing some fan sites, I DID find it. The reason I'd never heard it before was because it was never officially released, except as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the American Hustle movie soundtrack. And it IS Jeff Lynne. Turns out, Lynne cut it from his last release back in 2001 - Zoom. I have no idea why, since it's better than anything else on the album. Zoom also featured Ringo Starr and some of the last recordings of George Harrison. Have a listen...it's the best Rock and Roll I've heard in a long, long time. You gotta get up in the morning take your heavy load And you gotta keep goin' down the long black road

  7. Ok, here we go. The Signature Series Game (Round #3) Each round is worth a total of 10 possible points. 5 sigs at a time. Contestants identify either signature, book, or both in post. Each signature identification worth +1 point. Each book identification worth +1 point. Winners determined by time-stamp on post. No hints. All items are continuously in play and will be archived if unsolved before next round. Archived items can be solved at any time. Examples: If someone is first to correctly identify both the signature AND the book in the same post, it's worth +2. If only one is identified (sig or book), it's worth +1 and the corresponding book or sig is still in play. Someone who put a lot of time and energy into trying to identify a book from Round X can solve it from the archives at "any" time regardless of the current Round. Please identify the signatures and/or books by number to make it easy. Example: 1) Stan Lee, Amazing Fantasy 15 2) etc. ================================== Here are the signatures: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Good luck!
  8. 15 Minute Warning After posting Round 3, I'll be gone for about 15 minutes, but I'm coming right back.
  9. Round 3 will start in about 3.5 hours @ 5 PM PST tonight. Same format as Round 2.

  12. Sorry. For the next round, I'll start later in the day. There's still lots of stuff in play.
  13. Round 2 Game Summary So Far Item #) Signature, Book 1) X, $ 2) X, X 3) X, X 4) $, $ 5) X, $ X - Solved $ - Still In Play
  14. Don't worry...you did it right. I'll tally these up later for everyone, but you just won 6 points! New Avengers 6 is incorrect. Everything else is still in play.
  15. Ok, here we go. The Signature Series Game (Round #2) Each round is worth a total of 10 possible points. ================================== Here are the signatures: 1) 2) 3) (Don't be confused by the partially visible Stan Lee sig) 4) 5)
  16. Ok...since no one is objecting (or maybe no one is here yet ), I'll go with the above for Round #2. Contest starts in about 80 minutes at 9 AM PST.
  17. Additional thought: All items are continuously in play and will be archived. Unsolved items can be solved at any time. So, for example, someone who put a lot of time and energy into trying to identify a book from Round 2 could theoretically solve it from the archives at any time regardless of the current Round.
  18. How about a blend of c) and e)? Each round is worth a total of 10 possible points. 5 sigs at a time. Contestants identify either signature, book, or both in post. Each correct signature identification worth +1 point. Each correct book identification worth +1 point. Winners determined by time-stamp on post. So, for example, if someone is first to correctly identify both the signature AND the book in the same post, it's worth +2. If only one is identified (sig or book), it's worth +1 and the corresponding book or sig is still in play.
  19. Game Suggestions So Far a) 10 sigs like before, but no all or nothing. Winner decided by most correctly submitted. b) 1 sig at a time. Winner decided by who gets it right first. (This is probably easiest to implement.) c) 5 at a time, +1 for each book correctly identified d) 1 sig at a time. Winner decided by who gets it right first. Crop area of pic incrementally increased over set intervals. e) 10 sigs at a time. Winner of each individual sig decided by who gets it right first.
  20. No all or nothing. It was like crickets in here. There are TONS of obscure sigs out there that are impossible to "read", so there's lots of potential candidates, plus the guys who sign different ways. Which would be better (more fun)? a) 10 sigs like before, but no all or nothing. Winner decided by most correctly submitted. b) 1 sig at a time. Winner decided by who gets it right first. (This is probably easiest to implement.) c) ? Points to each correct answer, so the effort isn't wasted. A is just like before, with the points being all or nothing in this case. All or nothing makes people feel like it's a wasted effort. I'm not following. How would it work? Contestant 1 gets 7 right, 7 points. Contestant 2 gets 1 right, 1 point. Contestant 3 gets 2 right, 2 points. Oh, I see what you mean. But how would that work in practice? X posts answers, Y reads them and modifies his answers.
