  1. Reread my prior post. I stated that it wasn't impossible for eBay sales data to slip through the crack, just improbable. If one can believe GPA's claim of 99.9%, then it's to the tune of one book out of a thousand. You stated: And this is not true.
  2. I don't know where you heard this, but it isn't true. Yeh, it is. But I'm interested - what conditions do you think drive the capture of sales data by GPA? What do you think they search for and where? I'm interested in why you think GPA won't capture a sale if "CGC" isn't in the eBay title. Have you seen eBay? There are hundreds of CGC books for sale right now that don't have "CGC" in their title, and orders of magnitude more in their completed listings. You think all these books aren't tracked by GPA? Their service would be worthless if this were true. GPA has stated that they use a combination of different software tracking methods in conjunction with human ones. I'm guessing that they track images in addition to text, but that's just a guess on my part. If your point is that they aren't infallible, and that some books may fall through the crack, then I agree. I think they stated that they capture 99.9% of all CGC books sold on eBay. So it's unlikely that a sale isn't captured, but not impossible.

  4. One cat I had, I would peek around the hall corner and she would turn sideways, tail puffed up and bounce over and smack me in the face with her paw, claws retracted. She was such a kick.
  5. What about those handful of board members that have been registered for like 4 years but barely post? IMHO, rules are rules. Obviously, if your register date is before the rule has been applied, you would be grandfathered in. But after that - you should have to have a minimum post count in order to put up a sales thread. It doesn't have to be much. I guess it comes down to two ways of thinking about the site in terms of the sales threads: 1. This website is an atypical internet community and that is what makes it unique - requiring people to be part of it before resorting to making sales threads in the belief that familiarity breeds smoother sales. 2. This website is a messageboard to buy and sell stuff, and it doesn't matter if there is a communal component or not. It is Ebay without the fees and a place to chat about comics, nothing more. Some country clubs require one or two existing members to vouch for admission candidates before they will be considered.
  6. Nothing surprises me anymore. People are paying more for 2nd and 3rd prints that are identical to the 1st prints. It wasn't so long ago that anything after a 1st print was collectible garbage. Yeah - when someone declared that subsequent printings have smaller print runs and different covers, people decided they would be collectible. It's been happening for awhile - I remember really getting raked over the coals in the 90's when I bought a Cry For Dawn #1 third print because they were a short print run and featured a really awesome Linsner cover. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comes to mind.
  7. We won't need any more input from Soup, his eBay handle, or the WayBack Machine. Some new information has come to light. Follow with me to see if you agree with my conclusion. 1) Soup1998 AKA CampbellJH3 Transaction Timeline PGM - Iron Man 55 & Hulk 181 8-16-12 8-21-12 Flaming_Telepath reveals in PGM thread that Soup had already agreed to sell it to another boardie Anfield Fox starts probation discussion 8-23-12 2) Soup enters the IM55 9.4 into his registry on 10/15/2012 (New Information) LINK 3) GPA data for Certification # 0200514001 Soup stated that he sold this book on eBay. GPA tracks eBay sales, and GPA shows no record of the sale. He either lied about the sales venue, or he still has the book. I think it's the latter. In my opinion, he should either honor the sale for $700 or pay the >$400 difference in price. And if he still has the book, as I suspect, the delta should be at current market prices for a 9.4.
  8. $730? Seriously? Honestly, this makes no sense. Back when this contract was entered, graded 9.2s and 9.4s on eBay were selling for approximately $900 and $1100 respectively (at their lowest). Soup deleted his scans from the PGM thread, changed his handle, and sat on this thing until the eBay history was gone, along with a bunch of other inconsistent actions and statements. What about PayPal history? Slab certification #? Original scans? This may be resolved with Anfield Fox, but I'm not buying this BS.
  9. The system here is the same as anywhere. There was offer and acceptance which created a contract. There was then a breach of contract which generated damages. To get off the list, you need to repay the injured party the actual damages.
  10. I can think of several ways to make it right with Anfield Fox. All would involve either money or a book.
