  1. I've been hearing that comic book collecting is dead, and that the hobby will go the way of stamp collecting, for DECADES. No, it won't. Comic books are too cool. With James Gunn (proven track record) running the DCU unit of WB, a lot of excitement in DC films is on the horizon. And then Marvel Studios -- in the middle of a course correction after realizing their frolic-and-detour of 2021 to 2023 cost them literally hundreds of millions of dollars in lost box office revenue and eroded viewer (and comic book collector) goodwill -- will bring out new A-listers from the Fantastic Four and X-Men universes. That will generate even more excitement on the Marvel side. To the OP, if you don't need the money today, but want to liquidate, consider selling your collection in increments spread out over a five- or 10-year period. It's impossible to time any market, but this way you can hedge some risk while also realizing potential reward with market upswings for Marvel books that, i honestly believe, will come in 2025/2026. Since your portfolio is concentrated in Marvels, you're better off waiting a bit rather than unloading it all now in a soft Marvel market today.
  2. He had been living in recent years here in Miami. I saw him twice driving here because of his unmistakable personalized license plate that read, "COMICS". My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
  3. Yes, confirmed that Jose Delbo passed away. Is it possible to amend the title of the thread so we have a Delbo-dedicated thread here?
  4. I went Saturday. Similar observations -- the massive exhibit hall was absolutely packed. Aside from general attendees, there were plenty of buyers hovering around dealer tables -- maybe not the rabid buying frenzy of 2021 and 2022, but deals were being made. I spoke to a few dealers who told me they were very happy with their sales, and a similar sentiment was expressed that the market has stabilized. If there was one take-away from the first big show of 2024, it was this: there remains an incredible demand from everyday people to escape into the world of comic book mythologies. Massive crowds, tons of cosplayers, families, etc. People having a great time and excited to be there. Which tells me that comic book movie fatigue is a myth. What is real is the expectation from general audiences for good storytelling before they go to the box office. I think once Disney course-corrects and James Gunn rolls out the new DCU with Superman Legacy, we will see another bull market in Silver Age and newer comic books.
