  1. This thread needs a comeback. BTW have other Buzzy 70's come out of the woodwork? I've lost track of that hard to find issue since Ian found one. Curious too if the reason for the rarity of this book ever came to light. Ed
  2. Do any of these have advertisements on the interior covers?
  3. Probably but I'm guessing that there are quite a few front-cover-only Batman 1's that need a back cover badly. But yeah a clean OW Batman 1 coverless has to be a $2000 book.
  4. Back to the regular program. Here's an FC 488 White Mountain - and not yet slabbed.
  5. Oooh, another one. Get ready to lick your mining pick* (Xmas Rudolph reference)
  6. I paid $180 for the cover. I figure a complete Good is worth around $800-$1000 so why not.
  7. Whenever I come across a coverless or cover only, I do come back here and comb through past pages. I also helped out a boardie find an Action 13 centerfold.
  8. I just bought this on ebay kind of on a whim. Plus, I've seen more than one coverless issue out there so I figure one will show up, especially on a squarebound like this one. No spine splits, tape or major distractions, so hopefully an easy way to get a nice key.
  9. I posted the Barks run of Ducks in the For Sale section if anyone is interested. One and only cheap promotion now over. Please enjoy the greatest duck cover of them all.
  10. I need a coverless World's Best 1 for a cover I just bought. There's a back cover only complete issue on Metropolis for $500 but the tape kind of kills it for me at that price. Any others? I'd pay straight up $300 for a complete coverless that had CR to OW pages and were otherwise VG or better. Ed
  11. That is an unreal copy of a mega rare key. Any other books your friend has. Should I say "friend"? As in; Doc, I have a friend who has an STD, what should I do...I mean, what should he do?
  12. Anyone hear from wormboy lately? He has an outstanding order for $22 from me and hasn't posted since my "For Sale" thread on 9/14. Again, not a big deal money wise, just trying to get closure and see if everything is still A-OK with a board member. Or if others were having a similar issue but didn't want to speak out. Ed
  13. If that's what Fay Wray really looked like, I'd have thrown her off the ESB. If I were a gorilla that is..... " 'Twas beauty killed the beast."
  14. A slight change in subject but with all the reference covers that we've seen; has anyone come up with a cover that is similar to but prior to Action Comics #1. The car over the head would appear to be original to a super strong man. Is it really as original a concept as we think or might there be something similar in a pulp, magazine, or book cover (or other graphic design)? Ed
  15. See Daredevil, Wolverine LS, and Watchmen for other examples of this. I think ubber key's like AF15, FF1 and even SC 22 can be exceptions even if movies sort of suck.
  16. Jim, I just don't think that is the case since I don't see any other 15 cent Gold Key's other than July 1968. Granted I haven't researched it hard core but out of a lot of 200 Gold keys these two were the only 15 cent copies. And it happens that August 1968 is 15 cent seems awfully coincidental. Still, I'm willing to be convinced if I see other 15 centers like this. Ed
  17. Just got this in today and had to show it off.
  18. I sold this one on comiclink and it was clearly a gift grade with multiple, though tiny, spine lines and a significant skuff just over the 35 cent price itself. Still a bargain as I had it listed at $900 for quite a while and $600 was the best offer I got. I'd imagine it'd sell for higher today but wouldn't break the $1000 mark or maybe not even get close. Ed
  19. Here's another Gold Key price variant. Similar to the Tarzan which was dated July 1968, this Ripley's is dated August 1968. Besides the price, all else is identical.
  20. If all you have is 20 unique issues, then this is grossly misrepresented. I can't imagine those types being all in G to G/VG unless there is overall water damage. But either way, a 50% or more refund seems to be in order. My impression was about 50-70 individual issues where only a 25% refund might be in order. BTW here's my point of reference. I have a warehouse seller who sells me long boxes all the time (see my Golden Key sales thread). He sends them to me first. I review and make an offer which so far he has accepted each time. Even then I get disappointed because there's only so much I can do with 25 cent Harvey's. But no way in he11 am I going to pay before I get to see them. It helps that we've been doing this for 3 years now so we have mutual trust, but I still wouldn't pay first. That said, I feel for you, as having crappy books hanging around the house is a bear. I say eat the loss and move on, it's not worth the hassle other than a paypal dispute which you're following.
