  1. Definitely no Sgt Fury's. I doubt there are Weird Wonder tales or T of Darness but I could have missed those runs as I went through the boxes pretty quick and took out keys to scan more than anything else.
  2. For now those two are in one of the bottom boxes. But here's one I missed on the initial run through. Highest graded copy is a 9.0, if not for the 1/4 inch tear on the back cover it could have had a shot.
  3. By alphabetical order Adams hasn't come up yet, plus he was more DC than Marvel. I had a few Blue Ribbon Digest up for sale that had his work, but since you asked twice (and I have it photbucketed) here's a sweet Giant. Besides Avengers, X-men and Spotlight 2 coming up, I can't remember what else has he done for Marvel.
  4. Ghost Rider 2: late Silver but very neat in high grade.
  5. Frankenstein 1 and 18. 18 cover pencils shared by Wrightson.
  6. Before going to the comics, here are the Mead book covers I've never seen before. The FOOM, Marvelmania type items from the 60's and 70's are always awesome and seeing these as part of the collection instead of "only" comics makes it pretty cool. I'm not sure Powerman belongs in baby blue though.
  7. Thats an old school phone, not even cordless. Nostalgia takes all forms.
  8. Gary, Actually I thought the right edge of the Spidey may be trimmed but the top looked normal to me with a hair of overhang. What gave me pause was that the top is a different slightly different length than the bottom, (production issue I hope?). And there were no Marvel chips. It is at CGC so we'll see. Spotty X-men, missing the reprints and GS1, and for a collector who was an Adams fan he didn't look for perfection on the X-men run. I think the 94+ issues were actually read, so these may be VFNM while Omega and Machine Man are NM/MT. In a way thats pretty cool. Thanks for the kind words Gary. Ed
  9. Yes there were. In no particular order FOOM, Marvelmania 1966 set of Donruss cards high grade 2 sticker strips of head shots set of Marx figures - burnt orange and silver. 1970's Calendars 1970s pinbacks 1970s Hulk candy box 2 mini comics 1979 felt iron ons (baseball card size) 2 Mead Folders - Hulk and Cap i think. 3 sets of Hulk ASM and Cap America MEAD book protectors (I'd never seen these before) One or two Foom Magazines and other Fanzine type Mags Set of Flicker ring images but no ring Bronze Spidey medallion Hollogram medallion () There are few more items I can't remember Some Treasury's but not ultra high grade. Firesides are limited but there's an Origins of and one or two others. There were also the Original 70's Marvel Indexes. I think X-men was number 9 - I had never seen those before.
  10. It takes plenty of advertising and a willingness to drive an hour to look at "a 1000 really old comics" only to find 5 boxes or Archies and Tarzans from the late 70's with water damage or loose covers etc. For me, I usually travel since I don't have a store where folks come to you. The idea that there is an old man who doesn't know what they're worth and has 200 Timely's has never happened to me. Always, the novice seller focuses on the NM price and won't sell except for full price. The best collections I've bought were from collectors who collected in the late 70's and will take half value as long as you take everything. Then, the boxes take over the room in a hurry. Not a bad complaint I admit though my back will never be the same. This picture looks like Neat Stuff dropped off a load.
  11. But thats what makes the search so fun
  12. Enough with words. More scans.
  13. Jim, These will go up for sale eventually at first here in the Marketplace then ebay. I'm still in the sorting and replacing bags stage right now. Next step will be to filter out the CGC candidates. Ed
  14. He was a guy about in his 50's and I didn't ask him too much but he lived and grew up in Baltimore his whole adult life. Collected in the 70's as is pretty obvious. His price guides go back to #6 and up to 20 so he probably collected for 15 years. He mentioned knowing Geppi and buying comics from him early on while Geppi was just starting. There are maybe 6 Golden Age books but the rest are Silver and Bronze. He was both a completionist and a specualtor for fun typical to what led up to the 90's craze. He was not as fussy about condition when he had to buy back issues. He probably completed those too but it looks like he sold off the Early Silver. With a few exceptions like ASM1; Spidey run starts at issue 103, FF at 40, X-men at 7, Avengers starts at 2, JIM at 85, but there are some holes. There are also inexplicable breaks, as a run of Thor goes to Issue 320 but FF stops at issue 99. There are 3 long boxes of #1 issues with multiple copies in sets of 5 or 10. Just off memory there are 10x Wolverine 1-4, Ms Marvel 1, Teen Titans 1, Howard the Duck 1, Nova 1, 20x Dazzler 1. The 5x #1 issues for She Hulk, Spiderwoman, Spotlight 32, Premiere 38, Peter Parker, Star Wars, Star Trek, Arak and other DC, Easy to imagine his mindset buying these and a decent forcast on his part. He skipped the Atlas books and most of the DC that came out during that time. Shoot he even bought doubles of the Hanna Barbaras. He didn't buy horror, war, or westerns nor did he buy too many DC back issues and those he did aren't as sharp as the Marvels. He did buy some DC keys. I don't know his occupation nor why he sold other than that he was a huge pack rat and his townhouse was a total mess of stuff. He kept all his middle earth type collectibles including a Lord of the Rings Animation Cel. I only mention that since it was clear both he and his wife were happy to "get rid of the stuff" and yet he did keep quite a bit which I would have gladly bought. He did know their value but didn't want the hassle of going through them and selling them. It looked like he hadn't touched them since the 80's. I paid a reasonable amount in the thousands and the only sleep I lost from this deal was staying up late late going through the comics.
  15. We'll close out the night with the letter E. Eternals #1 30 cent variant.
