Ok, so what I am gathering is rule 5 b) needs to be rewritten.

b) The Hall Of Shame is for serious transgressions. For example, selling a book/books and sending nothing of value in the package. Interfering with someone's business. Being a multiple offender.

I, like many others, have misinterpreted this rule. I am sorry for that.

Menace did make right on everything with me with the refund and the opp. Medina messaged me himself and said he received the paperwork and the books have been shipped to CGC.

He has made right on all the other transactions to my knowledge as well. So he should not be on the HOS.

I have yet to get the book from CGC but I trust Medina and his update with me.

Again sorry for the misinterpreted rule. Maybe there needs to be some clarity or this just needs to be removed. (Just the bold part)

I am in favor of second chances. But third, fourth etc....I am not.

 

The main goal of this part of the sales area, though, should always be focused on making people whole (offended buyer or seller). If the core focus starts to go down the path of just having a permanent list, no matter how minor the offense, then this is going to validate what people are saying already - the PL/HOS doesn't really serve the purpose it was created for.

 

This is exactly right.

I get that. The main focus for only positive kudos threads is based on this.

But people blame it on the noobs. That is not the case here. Many people were affected by his actions. People in his numerous opps, plus people in his sales threads that he never had enough books for etc. Not just noobs. People in the same situations that I was in are scared to come forward. I waited 5 months to come forward and people still harp on me for that. I can see how people can vote in favor of him but never state their opinions.

People use excuses for his use of emails instead of pms. I sent it to both. His response to my email was that it was in his "spam" and that he was sorry.

I hope people will look at these conversations and learn from them.

There are risks from opps. That is why I no longer take part in them. I used to do 20-30 a year.

What would you like to do? The discussion here as well as any future incidents is well documented. I would assume his opps will be scrutinized.

Its not up to me. I am asking the people who continue to stick up for these people and their removal to say how this benefits the community in the long run. The lists have worked but are flawed. That is why I stated I have my own list. If people were on a list, then I will not deal with them. You play with fire, you are bound to get burned. I have seen repeat offenders. But on the flip side, I have seen people shape up and never get back on the list. But how many chances do people get?

The problem with ANOTHER list there will be a chance to get voted back off. So I am not in favor of another list.

I agree with you, it's very annoying.

Its the main reason why I have started to say this in my sales thread:

No probies or Hall of shame members or people I just do not like

Cause if you just say listers, then you continue to deal with these kinds of people.

This is probably more a job for the Signature Series decision makers.

Not in my opinion. Some of these offenses were from Sales threads. Not just sketch opps.

According to what you guys are saying for Menace:

He made right with me on my refund. check

He sent the artist the proper paperwork for the opp. check

He should not be on a list at all.

I wish everyone luck who deals with him in the future.

I collect Star Comics in CGC 9.8 White pages. They are hard to come by in high grade. Most you can find in dollar bins. Like what was said earlier, the first issues are not as rare. The Canadian price variants can be highly collectible in any grade.

I think one thing that should be done is separating the actual facts and people involved in a dispute form those with one liners and memes.

 

This could clear up all the confusion on the issues and allow people to actually form an opinion based on the facts.

 

I see all these negative comments on my character, but what were talking about here... as far as I have seen... is three things, one of which (ramos sketches) I explained and came to a full understanding about a long time ago and which had nothing to do with the boards.

 

The other is an opp, which some people involved in have posted saying I took too long or am not updating people.... I ask again, is it good for CGC to call out creators. Stay tuned because I will be checking with Angel about that quote posted in the Sig room.

 

The third was a refund or replacement book, and I think we covered that. I was not told from June till December that the book is still missing as soon as I did I sent a refund.

 

What is flaky... what makes me everything else I have been called?

 

I have a problem with less than 1% of books I handle... I think that is a pretty good rate.

He posted a facebook chat about the book he never sent me for 5 months or refund. But he edited it. Why would you edit it??? Unless you have things to hide.

I feel bad about not sending the book to John, but as you will see by our Facebook log which I will put here in full (well I hope I edited any bad words or remarks) I indicated I sent 'a package' which I thought included the replacement book. 6-5 I heard about it, 6-22 the book is sent to me, I indicate I will pack it and send it to John, along with what I believe was other books I needed to send to him. 7-26 we talk again, general chatter, I ask John about something on his Facebook page for something I am writing. I indicate I am yet again shipping things out but no mention that the replacement book has not arrived yet. 7-26 John asks me if I got his book back but doesn't ask if I sent his yet. So I have no idea at this point I did not send it yet. 9-2 and 9-3 we talk after he is at Dragon Con and he never mentions the book is missing.

 

I understand I dropped the ball by not getting the book out, I am however very easy to reach by phone, email or Facebook. I find PM's to be a VERY bad way to organize things and that led to some of these very delays in shipping that I as well as everyone else would like to avoid.

Ok, I just learned something new. I was able to look up the cert# from the census online. It says it is supposed to be a 9.6. I can see how you easily mistook it for a 9.8 by top label though.

Now, if he continues to try and fix things like he did with you, learns from it and then comes back with a more organized and stress free signature opportunity then wouldn't he be a contributor to the boards? Don't we, as a community, want to have members that actively contribute? If the answer is yes then please understand that the HoS is a permanent scarlet letter that will not allow this to happen. The probation list does.

My understanding is that the HOS poll is for being a multiple probation list offender. Not just for crooks. It's not my choice only. A poll is in place and everyone on the boards is voting. Not to throw logs on the fire, but DWC went through this and came out ok. Menace can also get off the list with another poll as well.

Actually, he was so unorganized he refunded JTWpantera first. I received a pm from him saying he received the refund from Menace by mistake this weekend.

Yes, a blind poll. Colour me unimpressed. Take a poll in moderns on whether the latest TV rumour will be a smash hit. People love to pile on.

 

 

Here is what I see.

 

Menace took on way too much. I called this the day he joined the boards. For those who wish to research I believe I posted this when he offered multiple opps in the 1st week he joined the boards.

 

So he is now drowning in a pile of commitments and I'll bet he is so overwhelmed that he has no idea what to do next. I'll also bet that he is not organized enough to even have an idea of the full list to be completed.

 

So, as a community we can step on the head of the drowning man or help him out of the water. All I see here is inexperience and not a desire to rip anyone off. Someone asked if holding a buyer's money for 5 months is ripping someone off. No it is not. He was refunded.

 

So long as Menace has a desire and we see an attempt to clear things up then he belongs on the probation list. When all those with an issue decide to write off their time and money then we can all say a collective you and put him in the HOS.

 

Doug Scott offered to help with one issue and there are a few of us that can help with the other opps if need be.

 

I completely understand that some feel disrespected, used, played or lied to but when we don't take intention into account and only the results then who does that leave willing to try?

 

Signature Series and sketch opps can become overwhelming very fast. I probably have more experience than the average submitter and I severely limit the quantity and control who I allow to submit through me. This was learned over time.

 

Is this just a really long winded way of saying "Burn the Witch?" If not, expect it to fall on deaf ears.

 

I think we can agree on the odds of anything calming the mob but I thought it was worth a try. The HOS is quickly becoming useless as well. I stopped using the "No HoS or Probies" in my sales threads. Although the list of boardies I will not accept any SS subs from has grown tremendously.

In the SS forum, Menace said he never received my email. PM me your email and I can forward you his response to my email. Its not just about getting my refund. I am not going to let him bash me by saying he did not get my emails. He is showing no remorse and needs to man up and tell the truth for once.

You've got the Medina OP, the Scottie Young Sig OP, the RAMOS Op (something amiss), and late or no responses to various convention submissions for SS.

 

PL or HOS...you decide.

Regardless there is a common theme that needs to be rectified.

Menace (Jake) might be a great guy and a savvy business man.

But...with all due respect he needs a professional wake-up.

And needs to learn to communicate effectively if he wants to conduct business via these boards.

You forgot to add the Tony Daniel OP to this list as well. Several issues in this one. None of which were on the artist. Then you had the probation thing which they all got deleted because he was posting personal and paypal info on the boards. Mods deleted most of those before the next morning. And the list goes on.....

As far as removing him. I did receive my refund. But I do think something else should happen here besides removing him or what is the point?

Menace did send me a refund this weekend. It only took 5 months. This was not the only problem I had with this same transaction. I purchased numerous Young SS books from his sales thread. After the thread was closed he sent me a pm stating he did not have enough SS Thor 9.8 variants.

I can say HOS is worthy for Menace. He seems to not care about his customers anymore. He has been a repeat offender. I am sure others are out there but they are scared to come forward due to the fact they want their items.

Please add Menace to the probation thread. It has been 72 hrs with no response to my new pm I created in regards to my Young SS 9.8.

I contacted Medina on Facebook. All the sketches are finished for the opp. Jake has not gotten in touch with him on how to send them to CGC. So I am only requesting probation thread for my Young SS book. Hopefully, the Medina stuff will be resolved soon.
