  1. Got these back today. Took some crappy photos cause I was excited to share, but I can take better photos later if anyone wants.

Sent in 2 sets of each book. Only 9.8s I got were 1 virgin and 1 BW. Rest were 9.6. The Virgin 9.8 has a giant gash in the middle of it. /shrug

Nice! I'm still waiting for CCS to finish pressing mine. The Virgin Variants had some issues that could be pressed out. So, I'll be waiting.....

  2. Long Beach Comic Expo is around the corner and they just announced that Jason Momoa will be attending the show on Saturday, Feb 18th only for autographs and photos.

Some of the highlights so far are:

    Mark Waid

    Tim Bradstreet

    Jim Cheung

    Sara Richard

    Amy Reeder

Here's the link to their site LBCE

  3. Nice Ed McGuinness variant available at Hall of Comics. The 500 print run variant with Deadpool in the corner is sold out but I bought the regular cover.

Received my copies last night and they look pretty good. NM for sure! So, I am pleased with the condition of the books. Also, they did pack them extremely well.

  4. The results are in from CCS to CGC and it's a bit disheartening to see the Grader Notes on some of these...

Superman/Gen 13 #2 CGC 9.6 SS (Hughes & Campbell) - Notes: very small bend right bottom of whole book

Superman/Gen 13 #3 CGC 9.4 SS (Hughes & Campbell) - Notes: bend right bottom of front cover breaks color

Garfield #1 Limited Edition CGC 9.6 SS (Jim Davis) - Notes: light spine stress lines to cover; scratch full top of back cover; very light fingerprints top of back cover

Garfield #2 Limited Edition CGC 9.6 SS (Jim Davis) - Notes: light bends to cover; light spine stress lines to cover

You would think pressing would have fixed these bends or light finger prints, correct? I did select the whole "cleaning" & "pressing" check box. Ugh!

The bends yes. Fingerprints no. Superman/Gen 13 #2 might be worthwhile to ask CCS to repress and resubmit (at their cost) On the other hand, the Garfield 1 has a lot of listed defects for 9.6. CGC gives, CGC takes away....

Took your advice and resubmitted 3 of the 4 books back to CCS/CGC for a repress and regrade. Hopefully, CCS will be able to fix the bends and other items. Also added 5 more books to the list. All Fast Track press and grades. Hoping for the best!

  5. Right of the bat, I want to say that Frankie's packed the books real well. Unfortunately, the books are not in 9.8 shape. There are spine ticks and color breaks throughout the books. Some having more than 1 spine tick which breaks color. And you can see rubbing on another. Overall, these books require a press to maybe get 1 or 2 of them to a 9.6 IMHO.

    Here's the break down:

Color #1 - rubbing in two areas of front cover

Color #2 - 2 spine ticks each breaking color

B&W #1 - 1 spine tick which slightly breaks color

B&W #2 - indentation on front cover and 1 spine tick

Virgin #1 - 2 spine ticks with 1 breaking color

Virgin #2 - 1 spine tick which slightly breaks color and some minor indentations

All of the back covers looks great, it is just the front covers that look bad.

The individual pictures I took don't show how bad they were. Will try again later.

  6. On a side note, per USPS.com the books have arrived at the house. I'll be posting pictures of the books in the polybag and taken out.

I purchased 2 sets (color, sketch, & virgin). I'm hoping they are in "minty fresh" condition, but based on what I'm hearing so far that seems unlikely. But I have my fingers crossed and will hope for the best.

I have never purchased anything from Frankie's before, so this will probably influence my decision on purchasing items from them going forward.

  7. Just received these bad boys from CGC today. Took awhile to get back to me as they were stuck in CCS for the longest time (SDCC submissions). But I am happy with the results...

  9. Pre-ordered two of those when it came out.

Honestly, it's kinda meh compared to some of his others. It also doesn't really make sense. The handle of the hammer is being swung down, and the head is flying off to the left.

Man, I would have killed for a remake of the iconic Batman/Joker cover with those two.

Yeah, I am kinda disappointed by the cover as well. I thought it was going to blow my mind since you have both Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn on the cover. I had ordered 2 sets and may trim it down to 1.

  10. CCS is still working on my Fast Track books from SDCC which were received back on August 3rd. Almost 3 months now... Yay me! Oh the humanity!!!

Ugh that's terrible. I might be looking at Christmas on mine by the time they come back.

Ouch! Don't know if it's worth it.... However, I guess we'll see when it does move to CGC and the grades I get. Some of the books I submitted I felt were borderline 9.8. I just didn't want to risk it. Next time, I'll take a chance and get them graded. Taking way too long in my opinion.

After 3 months using Modern Fast Track Press, my books are finally at CGC. Received by CGC today (11/8). It's been an extremely long 3 months since August 3rd. I hope the press was worth it. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever use CCS again. The time it takes to press a book is stupid ridiculous!
