Thanks, Bob! The second #197 has a pretty decent-size corner crease on the top right. I was hesitant about subbing it. So I can't argue with that one. The first #197 has a color breaking crease in the middle right part of the front cover. I was hoping for a 9.0. Upgrades, upgrades, and upgrades are next! (Hopefully.)

Thanks, Paul! I started chasing all the PF books in 2009. But I already had most of the hero books by then. I bought a big percentage of those books in the early-mid '90s. So it's either 9 years or 25 years depending on how you look at it.

Just back from CGC today. And with three of the books below, I just completed the entire 388 book set of Marvel Picture Frames in 8.0 or better. I'd realistically like to have them all in 9.0 or better. And I'm 3 books short of that. In my dream world, I'd like to have them all in 9.4 or better and I'm 20 books short of that. The search continues but I'm pretty happy to get this far and complete the set.

It is a reprint of an official PF book. Sort of. Kind of.

There's nothing modest about this copy, Sean. It's very sweet. Separately, GCD lists Gil Kane as the cover artist with Romita inks. Most of the characters have the Kane look. But I can't image Kane drew Sue Storm. It looks like she was cut and pasted from an early Silver Age book.

All beauties there, Paul. You might want to consider sending the MGC #34 to CGC. That book is incredibly tough in high grade. And it looks like a stellar copy.

Thanks to Doc Joe for being susceptible to my Jedi mind trick and selling me this book. The book survived some kind of adventure before I got my hands on it. I asked Joe to send it to CGC for a beholder (the case had a small crack in it). But CGC refused delivery from the post office and sent it back to Joe. CGC told me they refuse delivery when the box sustains obvious damage. When Joe got the box it looked like the Amphibian man from The Shape of Water had taken it for a swim. The book somehow survived the experience.

I use vuescan. My slabs turn out ok but my raw books don't looks so good. I use an HP scanjet 8250. Nice books!! I'm eyeballing some of these closely. Michael, if you feel like experimenting, give these settings a try. EDIT: But for the new CGC slabs where with the inner wells that sit recessed in the holder, I have to make a window in photoshop and increase the brightness of the book. Otherwise, the book is too dark.
