  1. I haven't done a census update for about 6 months so I figured I'd check to see if anything new has turned up for the hard-to find books. Long story, short – not much. A few nice Westerns have turned up. Also 9.4 copy of Marvel Tales #40, and 9.6 copies of Hulk #158 and X-Men #76. And now, a sabermetric analysis of Marvel Picture Frame books that would make Bill James throw up in his mouth a little bit. Of the 388 Picture Frame books, there are: 126 books without a 9.8 or better 48 books without a 9.6 or better 14 books without a 9.4 or better 5 books without a 9.0 or better 0 copies in 9.0 or better Millie the Model #194 (1 in 6.0) Millie the Model #195 (1 in 8.0) Millie the Model #197 (1 in 7.0) Millie the Model #198 (1 in 7.5) My Love #20 (1 in 8.0 ) No copies in 9.4 or better Harvey #3 (1 in 9.2) Harvey #5 (1 in 9.2) Li'l Kids #7 (2 in 9.2, 1 in 9.0) Li'l Kids #9 (1 in 9.2, 1 in 9.0) Millie the Model #194 (1 in 6.0) Millie the Model #195 (1 in 8.0) Millie the Model #196 (1 in 9.0) Millie the Model #197 (1 in 7.0) Millie the Model #198 (1 in 7.5) Millie the Model #199 (1 in 9.0) My Love #20 (1 in 8.0 ) Our Love Story #20 (1 in 9.2) Ringo Kid #17 (1 in 9.2, 2 in 9.0) Special Marvel Edition #4 (8 in 9.2!) 1 copy in 9.4 or better Chili #18 Chili #19 Chili #20 Harvey #6 Li'l Kids #4 Li'l Kids #5 Li'l Kids #6 Li'l Pals #2 Marvel's Greatest Comics #34 (9.6) My Love #14 My Love #18 (9.6) My Love #16 My Love #19 Our Love Story #17 Our Love Story #18 (9.6) Our Love Story #19 Rawhide Kid #103 (9.6) Ringo Kid #13 Ringo Kid #14 Ringo Kid #15 Special Marvel Edition #6 Western Gunfighters #8 Western Gunfighters #10 (9.8) Western Kid #3 (9.8) Western Kid #5 Wyatt Earp #31 1 copy in 9.0 or better Chili #18 (9.4) Chili #19 (9.4) Chili #20 (9.4) Harvey #3 (9.2) Harvey #5 (9.2) Harvey #6 (9.4) Li'l Kids #6 (9.4) Millie the Model #196 (9.0) Millie the Model #199 (9.0) Our Love Story #20 (9.2) Rawhide Kid #103 (9.6) Ringo Kid #13 (9.4) Ringo Kid #15 (9.4) Special Marvel Edition #6 (9.4) 2 copies in 9.0 or better Li'l Kids #4 (9.4, 9.2) Li'l Kids #5 (9.4, 9.2) Li'l Kids #9 (9.2, 9.0) Marvel's Greatest Comics #39 (9.6, 9.4) Mighty Marvel Western #20 (9.6, 9.4) My Love #16 (9.4, 9.0) My Love #18 (9.6, 9.2) My Love #19 (9.4, 9.2) Our Love Story #14 (9.6, 9.4) Our Love Story #17 ( 9.4, 9.2) Our Love Story #18 (9.6, 9.0) Our Love Story #19 (9.4, 9.0) Rawhide Kid #94 (9.4, 9.4) Rawhide Kid #105 (9.4, 9.4) Ringo Kid #14 (9.4, 9.0) Two-Gun Kid #103 (9.6, 9.4) Two-Gun Kid #107 (9.4, 9.4) Toughest hero books in CGC 9.6 or better Astonishing Tales #12 (1 in 9.8, 5 in 9.6) Avengers #103 (10 in 9.6) Avengers #105 (8 in 9.6) Captain Marvel #22 (4 in 9.6) Daredevil #86 (1 9.8, 4 in 9.6) Incredible Hulk #158 (now 7 in 9.6) 1 new 9.6 Iron Man #44 (6 in 9.6) Sub-Mariner #43 (6 in 9.6) X-Men #76 (6 in 9.6) 1 new 9.6 X-Men #79 (1 in 9.8, 2 in 9.6) Most 9.8s Amazing Spider-Man #105 - 54 Thor #202 - 45 Fantastic Four #121 - 45 Avengers #98 - 44 Avengers #102 - 40 Marvel Premiere #2 - 40 Tomb of Dracula #1 - 40 Most Submissions: Marvel Spotlight #5 - 1890 Hero For Hire #1 - 1686 Tomb of Dracula #1 - 1208 Defenders #1 - 1040 And here's some 25¢ PF stats for my buddy, Thomas (djpinkpanther67): 0 copies in 9.4 or better Special Marvel Edition #4 1 copy in 9.4 or better Marvel's Greatest Comics #34 (9.6) My Love #14 2 copies in 9.4 or better Mighty Marvel Western #16 4 books without a 9.6 Marvel Tales #33 Mighty Marvel Western #16 Special Marvel Edition #4 10 books without a 9.8 Chamber of Darkness Annual #1 Kid Colt Outlaw #156 Marvel's Greatest Comics #34 Marvel Spotlight #2 Marvel Tales #33 Mighty Marvel Western #16 My Love #14 Special Marvel Edition #4 Sub-Mariner #43 Where Monsters Dwell #12
  2. Sweet book, Thomas! This thread has been a little slow lately and that’s a great way to wake things up.
  3. The #7 is a really pretty copy. It looks less trapezoidal than many of the copies I've seen. I wasn't sure "trapezoidal" was a word until just now, by the way.
  4. Thanks for the heads up, Rob! The #86 is still a very uncooperative book.
  5. MCS is an excellent place to buy comics. Very strict grading and great customer service.
  6. Yup. That is a beauty. Great colors and very nicely centered.
  7. Good question. I'll pitch in for the cost of a pushpin.
  8. Thanks, Thomas! I should have you pimp for me during my next sales thread. And sweet books!
  9. Wow. That looks much nicer than the number in the upper left corner.
  10. Ever since the Boards got the facelift, this thread just lost so much steam. Grateful that you and Rob keep the DD love going! (I miss Justin:( I'm trying to figure out why the facelift seemed to have such a negative effect on the boards. I'm definitely not a fan of the new look. And I've cut back on my presence around here too and I'm not sure why. But here's an attempt to breathe some more life into the thread:
  11. Yup, that would be my guess too. Marvel Team-Up #33 is another example. I've never seen a copy of this book that wasn't miscut. And they're all pretty ridiculous.
  12. And it looks like Romita gave Sue a very Kirby-esque face with his inks. Actually, Sue's entire pose doesn't seem like Kane.
  13. The back cover could use some TLC. But after a stop at Joey's Emporium of Comic Book Wizardry, 8.5 would be my guess too.
  14. I've put together some respectable runs of Marvel titles over the years. Yet, here I am excited by a middling copy of Millie the Model #198.
  15. Finally slabbed a sweet copy of this book. It took about 8 years of website checking, want list submitting, eBay dice rolling, and a little bit of joeyposting.
  16. Sweet books, Sean. That MCG #35 is particularly sweet.
  17. Nice, Thomas! You are buzzing through the square-bound PF checklist.
