  1. Very, very nice. The group shot wasn't deceiving.
  2. Great group shot, Rob. Have you posted a scan of your 9.4 DD #1 anywhere? If you did, I somehow missed it. It looks very sharp in the group shot.
  3. That is a really nice looking book, Billy. And I agree with you on the cover, Robert. That is one of the better early Avengers covers. I think a lot of them suffer from the Too-Many-Characters-On-Cover Syndrome. (See Avengers #5, 6, 14, and #15 for some examples.)
  4. What Joe said. I store my earliest Marvel books spine side down. Many of the pre-1965 books had underhang, overhang, or both. And the inner wells are deadly for books with underhang. I'm sure gravity can eventually mess up any book. But the later Marvels don't have that underhang and are much less susceptible to slab damage.
  5. I can see a well-centered 9.8 copy of Avengers #93 selling for five figures. I even offered my left kidney for one a few posts back.
  6. I think this is the first Picture Frame I've picked up in 2017. It's the third 9.4 copy I've owned of the same book. Each time, the centering has improved a bit. I'm either dedicated or kind of crazy, probably both. Still no 9.6 in the census.
  7. And from the Department of No Surprises: 8 of these books have black covers. 1 has a dark brown cover and 1 has a dark blue cover. Almost makes me wonder if any of these books would hit into the 5 figures if found in 9.8 condition and made available in the marketplace, similar to what happened with the Iron Man 30 which apparently sold for $15K in one of the recent CC auctions. Unless the buyer of the Iron Man #30 also really wants a 9.8 Iron Man #44, I can't imagine any of the books in that list fetching $10K in the near feature. The 9.8 X-Men #79 realized $4211 in 2013 and the 9.8 DD #86 sold for $986 in 2012. The 9.6 X-Men #79s have sold for around $3400 and $2400 There are some highly sought after books in the list, but no keys. And I guess anything is possible because it just takes one aggressive buyer to pay a crazy price for any given book. But I wouldn't hold my breath for any five figure sales from that list.
  8. And from the Department of No Surprises: 8 of these books have black covers. 1 has a dark brown cover and 1 has a dark blue cover.
  9. And for Thomas (djpinkpanther67) and folks who just chase the 25¢ books: Still no 9.4 or better copy of Special Marvel Edition #4. Marvel's Greatest Comics #34 and My Love #14 each have only 1 copy in 9.4. Still no copies of Marvel Tales #33 or Mighty Marvel #16 in 9.6 or better. Still no 9.8 copy of Marvel Spotlight #2 or Sub-Mariner #43. There's only 1 9.8 copy of Avengers #93 and I would trade my left kidney for it. There's only 1 9.8 copy of Incredible Hulk #145. And I believe it's owned by a legendary contributor to this thread. Hulk Annual #4, Daredevil Annual #3, and Sub-Mariner #43 are the toughest hero books that aren't from a reprint title.
  10. Another update from the Department of Useless Information: Not many changes in the census over the last 6 months. I think just two or three really tough-to find books have been slabbed since I last checked. Somebody slabbed a Li'l Kids #4 in 9.4. And a 9.2 Li'l Pals #2 made its way to Sarasota as well. There are still 14 Picture Frames without a single 9.4 or better copy. And 5 without a single 9.0 or better. Millie the Model is still playing very hard to get. There are now 10 9.6 copies of Avengers #103, so while it's still one of the toughest hero books in 9.6, it's not so impossible anymore. So now, all the information nobody has been waiting for: Of the 388 Picture Frame books, there are: 127 books without a 9.8 or better 47 books without a 9.6 or better 14 books without a 9.4 or better 0 copies in 9.0 or better Millie the Model 194 Millie the Model 195 Millie the Model 197 Millie the Model 198 My Love 20 1 copy in 9.0 or better Chili 18 Chili 19 Chili 20 Harvey 3 Harvey 5 Harvey 6 Li'l Kids 6 Millie the Model 196 Millie the Model 199 Our Love Story 20 Rawhide Kid 103 Ringo Kid 13 Ringo Kid 15 Special Marvel Edition 6 Two-Gun Kid 102 2 copies in 9.0 or better Li'l Kids 4 (1 9.4, 1 9.2) Li'l Kids 5 (1 9.4, 1 9.2) Li'l Kids 9 (1 9.2, 1 9.0) Marvel Tales 40 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) Marvel's Greatest Comics 39 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) Mighty Marvel Western 20 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) My Love 16 (1 9.4, 1 9.0) My Love 18 (1 9.6, 1 9.2) My Love 19 (1 9.4, 1 9.2) Our Love Story 14 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) Our Love Story 17 (1 9.4, 1 9.2) Our Love Story 18 (1 9.6, 1 9.0) Our Love Story 19 (1 9.4, 1 9.0) Rawhide Kid 94 (2 9.4) Rawhide Kid 99 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) Rawhide Kid 105 (2 9.4) Ringo Kid 14 (1 9.4, 1 9.0) Two-Gun Kid 101 (1 9.4, 1 9.0) Two-Gun Kid 103 (1 9.6, 1 9.4) Two-Gun Kid 107 (2 9.4) No copies in 9.4 or better Harvey 3 Harvey 5 Li'l Kids 7 Li'l Kids 9 Millie the Model 194 Millie the Model 195 Millie the Model 196 Millie the Model 197 Millie the Model 198 Millie the Model 199 My Love 20 Our Love Story 20 Ringo Kid 17 Special Marvel Edition 4 Toughest hero books in CGC 9.6 or better Astonishing Tales #12 (1 in 9.8, 5 in 9.6) Avengers #103 (10 in 9.6) Avengers #105 (8 in 9.6) Captain Marvel #22 (4 in 9.6) Daredevil #86 (1 9.8, 4 in 9.6) Incredible Hulk #158 (6 in 9.6) Iron Man #44 (6 in 9.6) Sub-Mariner #43 (6 in 9.6) X-Men #76 (5 in 9.6) X-Men #79 (1 in 9.8, 2 in 9.6)
  11. Sweet, sweet, ridiculously sweet, respectably sweet, sweet, extra sweet, and exceptionally sweet, Greg.
  12. That book is kind of sort of somewhat respectable, Thomas.
  13. Great books, F for Fake. That Kid Colt is a shockingly difficult book to find in nice shape. And creaturefan95, that WBN #1 is a beauty in a "it's been read over and over" kind of way.
  14. I missed those 9.6 and 9.8 sales and I'm glad I did. I paid $725 for the Suscha News copy back in 2011. Insanity loves company.
  15. Great haul, Darwin! You'd probably have some luck starting a thread in the sales forum. You have pretty desirable and tough books there.
  16. Nice group shot, Dave! It's a great way to take in all the Kirby awesomeness.
  17. This thread dropped all the way to page 9. Can't have that.
  18. Lots of beauties there, nepatkm! It's hard to believe these books are 45 years old now.
