  1. I just stopped listing things... and instead put a couple of things directly on facebook. I get it ... free platform and all. I don't know if I would Andy Dufrense them though... They might just shut the place down as a solution.
  2. Hasbro Transformers Soundwave Tablet/iPad - SDCC 2016 Exclusive with Laserbeak Laserbeak is that winged thing on his back that comes off. Not all videos realize that. Was opened to inspect. Think I transformed it once and it's been in a closet since. $75 Here is the video for the review. Followed by pictures. I still have the internal sleeve and the protection paper. SOLD
  3. Say I wanted to sell my AFA Graded Star Wars figures? What venue would I use? I am not going to use eBay. I am not selling them over the boards or FB. (Not happening - this is not meant to generate a sale) Does Hakes actually generate enough interest? Is Comic Link the way to go these days? Metropolis? I am hesitant to send these in the mail because an afternoon in a hot mail truck could detach the bubble from the card at this point. So I 'might' hand them off to someone at NYCC. I guess this is one of the 'big' ones.
  4. Lego 40335 - Lego Space Rocket Ride... Lego version of the old machines out front of a store where you pop a quarter in to ride. Turn the crank and it moves forward and back. $25 This one might be pulled at any second. Kind of forgot I had it. SOLD
  5. I applaud you beating cancer and keep it up. You should have a long life ahead of you. That's been on my mind in the even that something happens... but I really cannot see any type of scenario that does not derail my departure date. I don't plan on sitting on a beach and watching the world go by and I will find a new path shortly after it. But at some point after I am eligible I am putting in the paperwork.
  6. At this point I should just run my own loot crate subscription service. More coming today. Over 1,100 views so people are interested. Maybe a big item.
  7. Anyone who puts their books in a safe is a fool. Everyone knows the safest place for your books is right under your head like a pillow.
  8. Glad I could help. Let me know when you read the rest and if that answers your question.
  9. At the going rate of a 9.6 I think there is no financial harm in throwing it in a batch of moderns to grade. Yes, @Wolverinex I am finally going to send down some moderns I thank all of you for your input.
  10. @comicwiz and @Bronty both have more experience with the nuances that I am going to try to explain so you guys feel free to jump in. You two might disagree on a couple of the aspects or issues I raise but I *think* I can presently explain the basics somewhat clearly. Let's back off the idea of comics being art. The original art is the art and comics are collected bound printed volumes of the art on paper. Let's forget about comics all together because in reality, as far as I am concerned the only true graded collectable that does not interfere with the usability of the collectable is sports and gaming cards since you can flip it over and get the same experience and usability of the item regardless of whether or not it is graded. Grading a video game is really nothing more than grading the packaging it came in and assuming that the contents not only are there and work but that all factory issued paperwork is present. This mentality toward collecting is very much related to MIB (Mint in Box) toy grading. You assume that all of the contents contained in the sealed box are also mint and unbroken and were manufactured correctly. The mentality is that to obtain a sealed box of a toy you are trying to have the most perfect representation of that sealed item as it came off the production floor. Now are there problems with this? Absolutely. Let's go back to Lego. Check this listing out on eBay as it is the FMV going rate for this set at around $400. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224369239367 Lego 10223, Kingdom's Joust is a representation of what everyone collects when they collect MIB samples of items and everything that can go wrong. To continue this I am going to assume that you are all clicking the link to look at the pictures. The year that this set arrived, Lego introduced a new plastic recipe for lack of a better word for their brown bricks. The bricks were VERY brittle and broke easily with many of those parts finding themselves into this particular theme of sets. I have two of them with both opened. Lego actually addressed the problem and offered replacement parts. Everyone learned of this problem within a couple of years. The plastic dried out VERY quickly and would just snap. Article LEGO Apologizes for Brittle, Reddish Brown Bricks – Assures Problem is Now Solved. Now we have a question on that sealed $400 Lego set on eBay. What are you buying when you buy that set? I assure you that the set has those particular bricks in question that will snap. Again, I know because I have two of the sets and have had to swap out the brown bricks. Are you buying a presentation of the best model you could find off the shelf of your favorite toy? Are you buying an actual Lego set to open and build? If it is the second one, you can still contact Lego and they will help you out. However, the value of the set has gone down once you open the package. The same holds true with vintage SW Toys still sealed in the box, Transformers were not sold in window boxes, and most definitely the one thing I always tell people to stay away from, MIB GI Joe playsets which contain the most brittle plastic I have ever seen. With a video game you are not buying a graded and sealed game to play the same way you are not buying a graded and sealed comic to read. It's supposed to sit on your shelf and look pretty. However, yes, you do not know if the game will actually work just the same way that I can tell you that I have no idea if the $1,300 sealed Lego set I sold last month has problems with the brown bricks. You won't know unless you crack it open and see. But once you do that you no longer have a factory sealed sample of the best representation possible of the product.
  11. In case the Heritage lawyers are reading this or come across this, what I am about to say is pure speculation and suspicion as to whether this happened and should not be construed as my making claims that this is or did take place. A few of us have talked about this amongst ourselves as to whether or not this is possible. So remember when Heritage USED to be the go to place for the big books and the more elusive items? There is speculation and suspicion that Heritage might have been jacking prices on comic auctions even after NP Gresham was discovered. There were comics on Heritage that were reaching record prices. Here is the problem with that. We can see the population reports for comics regardless of how off they might be. (Due to CPR'ing books like Hulk 181 and ASM 300, I am sure there are more on the census than actually graded but there are still a LOT out there.). So what did comic collectors do? Buyers moved on. There are MANY venues to buy the SAME comic books. Comiclink really seems to be bringing the heat on a regular basis over the last few years. In fact there are fewer comics in major event Heritage Auctions than there used to be. What seems to dominate the Heritage event auctions these days? Art and Video Games. Now, I did not know about the census issues regarding art but we do know that it is near impossible to gauge the art because it is one of one and no two pieces are alike. That means that it is far easier to manipulate pricing and I have already said what I have about the art. Again this is speculation. Heritage is no longer the driving force in comics at that point. Comiclink has kind of become the new Heritage with the books that pass through Maine. BTW... what has Heritage done to try and recapture the market with Comics Books. The discovery of the Promise Collection. @G G ® ™, you were astonished at the 8.5. I am trying to find it but can anyone locate the highly graded book that looks like it had mouse chew on the bottom right hand corner I believe. There is speculation that the Promise collection is not what it seems as from the discussions here and 'across the street'... that it is not an OO collection but assembled and the grades on quite a few books seem inflated. Where did those books go? Heritage. To who? Halperin. From where? CGC. There are many things going on over there in recent years that raise an eyebrow. I guess I am not going to get any more free catalogs from Heritage anymore. That's okay. If I am going to spend five figures on something again on a non-necessity I think at this point I would rather have a new deck framed around a hot tub in the backyard rather than a comic book.
  12. I thought the front cover might have been trimmed but the way it was bound with part of the front cover on the rear. So I would definitely cross that possibility off. It's not trimmed.
  13. I don't know as usually some of the finer stuff can only be seen in hand. Around five years before I joined the boards, a board member here showed me some tricks. If you have the book in hand or know the seller get scans. Upon getting the scans flip the color of the image into a negative where certain imperfections will be more apparent that have been color touched. He told me to buy an ultraviolet / blacklight which will find color touch that the naked eye cannot see.
