  1. This is only up for the weekend 24-36hrs. After that I move it elsewhere. Last week a few people asked about deals on the Mandalorian 6" figures. The prices were good on those and that evening I put them up on Facebook and they sold immediately at the requested price. If this sells I might add something else. If not I will save that for next week.
  2. Background: I really want to clear out space. The Batmobile SOLD ... so... as promised... something else - look toward the end of the thread for the Transformers. I waited until "This afternoon" for those that got up late and for those that miss these threads in the early EST Saturday Mornings. So I am liking this. Instead of a giant plastic crack thread, every Saturday, I am doing a focused thread on something specific. Three weeks ago, the Funko Deal fund a new home. Two weeks ago week, the Custom 'Not" Lego Minifigures found a new home. Last week? Someone took home some Star Wars. What I do is walk around and open containers and bins and sort things out throughout the week as time permits. What it resulted in this week was a LOT of Star Wars stuff. So sit back and remember this, the more that sells, the more I add. Rules US Shipping only on this please. PayPal Goods and Service, Check, Money Order I go by timestamp of whoever commits to buying whether that be in public or PM. No HOS, Probation List Members, Problem Children or Drama Llamas (the one person I have on ignore. Unfortunately I have to make this an explicit rule.) No returns - this is Spring Cleaning time - additional pics are available upon request, ask any questions beforehand. Since I am working from home I ship out same or next day that you pay. As always a song: ... in this case... a DJ Set... 3. Here is a bigger thought... remember when we all scoffed at a certain someone's AF15's getting damaged? Maybe we were wrong. Because, the more I see the more I am open to the idea that while that individual was a little off, that he may not have been wrong.
  4. That's why I put together a decent "A"mazing Spider-man Collection but aside from "X"-Men 1, I do not own any other issues.
  5. What is most troublesome is that someone at corporate is saying to themselves, "They must want us to be tougher on the grades." No... no that is not it. Stop damaging books in the slabbing process.
  6. Usually, every May I send books to Joe and then on to CGC. I only send around ten books a year but this year I was thinking of sending around 20-30 and finally get some higher value moderns slabbed. I will be sending midgrade Silver and Gold instead as I have lost confidence with part of the service. Turnaround times: If you decided to send your books to CCS to press and then to CGC to encapsulate then if were to do that right now and they received the books by Monday 5/24 you are looking at receiving your books back sometimes in late March or early April of 2022 using the scheduled Turn Around Times that CGC is reporting. Here is the big one: Quality Control: Keep your eyes open here and poke around on the Facebook groups and you will see a few common trending complaints. How are books being slabbed with corners folded over the book? How are books being slabbed and tearing in the slab? How are books being damaged in the slab where entire ridges of the book are being crushed? This is not on the part of the graders but whoever is actually encapsulating the books. I have seen crushed corners, tears where the book was grabbed onto by the placeholder, the book sliding around so freely in the slab that the ridges were messed up. So? Why would I ever submit a few copies of UF4 in possible 9.6+? Why would I send down 1st RiRis, Suris, Batman Beyond and other first appearances? It makes no sense to risk sending down modern books that have shots at 9.8's because something is going on right now. So why would I risk sending high grade books to be damaged right now? If I send mid grade books the risk factor is diminished do to the current condition of the books. If you ding the corner of an issue of a GA Captain America Comics that would normally grade out at a 4.5 during the encapsulation process, I would never know and would assume that it is part of the grade.
  7. Bay is “notable” as is Zach Snyder. I would not classify Bay as an A list director by any means. However, Bay is a brand name director in that he has recognition. Snyder is definitely a better filmmaker than Michael Bay but when it comes to a summer popcorn movie Bay has that name recognition for his specific genre.
  8. This is where it was... The Learning Channel TLC - Extreme Cheapskates The kid: "This is kind of dirty." The mom: "Ok, no it's not." Me looking at the poo stains on the cloth: "Oh no, it's definitely dirty."
  9. My brother can afford it. He makes way more than I do. At this point he prefers to have people or uber or lyft or whatever drive him.
  10. Eh things happen. Side note. My brother is 43 and has never legally driven a car as he has never held a driver's license. He could not be bothered with the expense That's an awesome story about your daughter though. Truly is.
  11. I am having issues right now since It is 3am and I am still typing. sigh ...
  12. You could always be like some of those people on the Discovery Channel who use scarps of old fabric that they use around the house then throw them in the wash to reuse again later.
  13. I will always be grateful to parents that needed to do anything it took to satiate their children. My parents were VERY strict when it came to driving. Part of this might have had to do with a cousin by marriage driving drunk into a wall here on Long Island and killing one of the passengers. If you wanted to drive while living under their roof you had to do the following: Pay for your own insurance Pay for part of the increase in their insurance as their premium went up with an additional driver living there. Be over the age of 18. You had to have graduated high school. You could use the third family car by their permission only that they original bought (I think they put it under my name) You had to pay for gas, maintenance, and upkeep of that car. So, as you can see this got really expensive. How does someone at that age pay for it? Scalping toys. Christmastime was a great way to buy up all the green rangers and mark them up x5 or x6.
  14. The Polish girl at work does that. She sends things back to Poland all the time. I kind of half pay attention to her when she talks about her personal life (she tried starting a go fund me so she could take a ride into space. ). Anyway, I believe she has sent things ranging from iPhones to Cars back to relatives in Poland at one point in her life.
  15. When people line up outside of stores they are also prime targets for muggings. Years ago when people were lined up outside of a store for one of the video game console releases someone just held up the line at gunpoint. I remember waiting in line overnight outside of Tower Records and at Yankee Stadium for concerts and post season baseball tickets. Do people line up outside shoe stores for sneakers or is that just here in NYC?
  16. Ha. I will admit that I was a goon lined up outside of a Toys R Us on Long Island back in 1995 waiting for the store to open so I could run and grab the reissue of Slave-1 from the Star Wars POTF2 line. It was a direct reissue from the vintage Star Wars lines. As the store opened, everyone ran and one guy slipped on the turn and broke his ankle. I stopped as I considered the live choices that led me there. I walked to the toy aisle and saw that that there was one with a tear in the box that people were ignoring so I took that one home while people were fighting for it. That was the last day I ever ran or rushed for anything in a store. Not on Black Friday. Not on Christmas... It's just not worth it. People are getting into it these days over discounted TV's at Walmart. Just not worth it. I have seen people race and get into it over Startling Lineups, Star Wars 1995-1998 figures, Power Rangers, Tickle Me Elmos and the like. This stuff is nothing new. My dad worked at Sears as a second job during the Cabbage Patch craze and he has some interesting stories to tell. Whenever they got them in stock it was all hands on deck as far as security went. There is long time board member here who worked with my dad but he does not post much anymore. I know he has stories to tell.
  17. Apparently she has a lot to say as we have seen over the past several months.
  18. I was going through today's email and saw that Lego dropped a new contest: https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/8b55cca9-9162-436c-bd63-5e55b805af06?query=&sort=top Lego is running a brick built and art driven contest for Marvel characters. Here are the details and the prizes are pretty decent. I know from past history that there is a decent talent pool of artists on these boards and perhaps this is something that you or your kids might be interested in entering. The rules are pretty straight forward. I have nothing to do with this and get nothing out of this. This was the actual link when you go to the lego Ideas site. https://ideas.lego.com/
  19. I have to be honest. The very first time I opened this thread was to see why he was keeping his books on his front lawn. Does anyone here actually HAVE a sprinkler system in their home.
  20. The books that I am silently buying and hoarding.
  21. There are a lot of issues on these boards. Wait, what are we talking about?
  22. Y'all act like you're not old enough to remember Cabbage Patch Kids.
