  1. It's beyond that. I am going to say it again, we are focused too much on the selling collectables aspect of this. Last week there was a garage sale down the block from me. There were people doing transactions with PayPal. Now whether or not they were doing transactions using Friends and Family or Goods ands Services is unknown. That garage sale generated more than $600. My neighbor selling his old living room set and kitchen table definitely generated more than $600 locally. Hate the break the news to the white knights on tax law, but people like this are completely unaware of this $600 threshold and auto generating form. So my concern is not with the comic community who will have to learn to work with the new laws, my concern lies with those that are cleaning out a garage, or selling off their kids outgrown toys and clothes and things like that. As more people become accustomed to paying electronically this will become problematic for a lot of surprised people in 2023. You are either going to see people get kicked in the nuts that really don't need to be or you are going to see people simply putting more stuff in black plastic bags at the curb as they cannot be bothered with it which is a shame.
  2. How many ASM 300's do you have in 9.8? Judging by the Comiclink auction... $8,000 a pop right now.
  3. I have seen Green label 9.8's with unwitnessed signatures. I don't think I have seen a 9.6 with a detached cover until tonight.
  4. I mean I have to wonder... did Reeve ever attend any cons or sign any books or ANYTHING? I know he hated being typecast but he had his accident in 95. Comics were huge during that time period and Superman books were in full focus especially with the Death of Superman story line released in 93.
  5. I think that this was an idea at one point but Hasbro never followed through with it. The closest that they got were a couple of SDCC exclusives where they repainted GI Joe vehicles in their Transformers colors. I had a few of them but sold them a long time ago. This is what I mean. They took a GI Joe Skystriker and cast it in white while adding a few parts to simulate a Jetfire in vehicle mode. They did the same with the VAMP and saying that was Hound and then taking an modern version of the Hiss Tank, mounting a Soundwave type cannon on the top and calling it soundwave. The figures were always cool because the GI Joe figures were seen as partners and would have the autobot sigil on their arm. I am now wondering if I want to buy back the Snake Eyes that came with the Jetfire set. It was announced last week though that members of the Hasbro Transformers team are going to take the lead on GI Joe toy development so you never know what will happen. https://news.hisstank.com/2021/04/29/john-warden-to-head-g-i-joe-brand-at-hasbro-72789 If they did it would probably be a Hasbro Pulse exclusive of some sort due to the price after tooling.
  6. I don't think it depends on the artistic depiction but it does depend on the book itself and the person signing it. If Christopher Reeve were still alive would there be an objection to him signing a copy of Action Comics 1,000 ? Would anyone really object to a copy of Hugh Jackman signing some generic X-Men variant cover with a cool image of Wolverine? I don't think the book has to be a key but the actor has to be defining enough in the roll that even though he is no longer portraying the character he is thought of 'as' the character when he is mentioned.
  7. $2300 ?!?!?!?!?! A 9.6-9.4 must be worth at least half of that right? I remember when I was standing next to a board member at NYCBM and he shook his head at me for buying a copy for $30. My copy Of Batman Beyond has a shot I think at a 9.6 - 9.8.
  8. No... Let's see because I have a REALLY nice copy of Batman Beyond 1 1st Print.
  9. Sounds exactly like what I described. You submit a book with "marvel chipping" to mask the trimming. The same person that told me about this also told me about taking a detached centerfold and dismantling the book and switching the centerfold with the wrap behind it. That way the pages are out of order but the detached centerfold is now anchored in. This is under the assumption that graders do not read stories they simply count pages. Again, I stared in disbelief.
  10. Me: Another reason I am thinking of getting out. Also Me: What else can I grab on Comiclink tonight ?
  11. By doing what I described in an effort to get a blue label?
  12. I’m sitting on the couch right now so otherwise I would link you. I know one guy in transformers liberated buy and sell sold one recently for $1000. The other group I recommend is Transformers Trader PX. I think that is run by the guy who runs GI Joe Trader PX, Rob Ross. He is a great moderator and decent guy who owns a toy shop. I’ve done a couple of purchases with him and would never hesitate to do one again if a deal made sense.
  13. Lol 😂 I don’t. I go to the shows and may have a couple of drinks but no weed. I like to enjoy the shows and not wake up the next day wondering where I went the night before. I watched a friend learn that the hard way. I had tickets for the stones in 97. Three of us went and only two of us remember the show. The other one was so wasted we couldn’t move him off the train. side note - We figured he would figure it out once he ended up on the other side of Long Island when the train had reached the end of the line. He got home the next day. 😂 He was a handful to deal with at that show.
  14. Facebook transformers groups - ask there. I passed on it and now almost wish I would have picked one or two up just to flip.
  15. To me it’s like the people that use twitch or YouTube to watch other people play video games while cracking jokes.
  16. There was the guy that said you could reverse trimming on early marvel books with a fine tweezers and turn it into marvel chipping. I stared at him in silence when I was told that one.
  17. I didn’t know ! I also don’t watch MST
  18. Just saying here... but do you think the top right of the book could be pressed to bring it to a solid '1.0' and would that even be worth it?
  19. I think the only SW Lego set I kinda regret not getting was both the Endor set you have pictured and Cloud City as I would have liked to have expanded that set with an additional two-three bottom levels that taper down. I had that idea well after it was sold out.
  20. I remember that, or at least when the thread was active. I have to ask, you ever find out what happened to the book after you sold it to the dealer?
  21. That's easy. Apparently, the US Department of State has better turnaround times than CGC. I just posted this there after Adamantium wanted to know if my book had moved out of received. In short: Sent in Turtles book. Then I sent in my passport. Got the passport back today. Turtles book still in received.
  22. My copy of Valiant's Immortal Brothers: The Green Knight is going to make contribute to my retirement fund. I had best buy up every copy I can. Side note, Nick, I know you like Valiant, my true purpose of this post is that if you have not read this tale it was a great story and really reminded me of the older valiant stories with the three brothers like A&A/Eternal Warrior 8.
  23. Oh, I am sending in additional books to be pressed by Joe. I am certain the Turtles book will be signed by October unless they lost it. It is the other books that I worry will be caught in limbo of I cancel the membership in October. Again though... "State Department"
