  1. 2nd (of 3) auctions took place tonight. Hopefully the realized auction prices will be posted sometime later today. When (and if) they do post the final bid prices, I'll update the thread accordingly.
  2. Pains of Trying To Complete Set With over 30 covers to Betty & Veronica #1 it's proving difficult to find all in 9.8 condition, even with multiple attempts to "find" nice copies.
  3. Phoenix Comic Con -- anyone attending? Anyone happen to be attending the HERO Initiative auction tonight? If so can you share some of the closing prices on the Wonder Woman 100 Project auctions?
  4. I'm local so I just drive the books up. On my most recent batch, I was looking at the rejects and I still can't figure out what's wrong with them. I look at them in good light and pay extra special attention to the areas near the spine and staples. I've even had others review and they can't find issues.
  5. Thank you to @A-DONIS for parting with this beaut! Artist is Clayton Crain, on a Transformers blank sketch cover. When I saw it I just had to have it. Beautiful piece!
  6. I would give them another chance. I usually receive all the books in great shape.
  7. I know this is an old thread, but couldn't this issue be resolved by just using LED lighting in the room?
  8. Are you guys using online submission form or paper form?
  9. Super talented. I can't wait to see what he does with my top secret piece :-)
  10. My luck hitting 9.8's with jscottcampbell.com books hit a wall with the ASM #25's. I submitted three of each cover and only got two back 9.8 (1 Cover A and 1 Cover C). First time I haven't been able to put together a set, since I always buy three sets. Going to try to trade a raw set for a 9.8 Cover B (if anybody is interested...)
  11. If you don't mind my asking, which ones did you win Joel? I won the Brereton...
  12. Any love for the Michael Turner Superman/Batman collection?
  13. Site looks terrific Dale. I'm having a small issue however. When I try to filter by grade in 1st appearances, (ie., 8.0) it appears to be returning everything instead of just 8.0 grade books. I haven't tried other sub-sections as of yet, only 1st appearances.
  14. All results from Auction #1 have been updated with prices paid. Auction #2 is the 27th.
  15. HERO Initiative Wonder Woman Sketch Cover Win Put in a few bids but only landed one win ... which I'm happy about :-)
  16. Unfortunately if you get spot on with Simonson you'll still be just a little short of Mayor006's 1.40 score (which is amazing -- congrats Mayor006)
  17. HERO Initiative website has started posting winning bids for the auction from last night (two more will be held in subsequent weeks): Kristin Allen - 300 Grace Allison - 200 Franco Aureliani - 250 Terry Blas - 300 Dan Brereton - 800 Chris Burnham - 600 Cliff Chang - 550 Dennis Culver - 200 Alan Davis #2 - 800 Rich Ellis - 350 Tony Fleecs - 500 Agnes Garbowska - 1050 Christian Gossett #1 - 350 Christian Gossett #2 - 300 David Hann - 300 Adam Hughes - 3600 Frazier Irving - 300 Chris Ivy - 600 Drew Johnson - 500 Sam Kieth - 700 Steve Lieber - 200 John McCrea - 550 Danny Miki - 600 Shawn McManus #2 - 1300 Chris Moreno - 400 Bill Morrison - 550 Todd Nauck - 1000 Moritat - 400 George Perez - 2000 Ron Randall - 200 Nicola Scott - 1000 Stephn Segovia - 700 Andy Smith #1 - 500 Aaron Sowd - 1000 Peter Steigerwald - 1000 Philip Tan - 800 Chrissie Zullo - 700
  18. Got just a few final auction prices tonight when I called Comic Bug -- they told me Hero Initiative would have results up on their website at a later date. But here's what heard: Brereton - $800 Keith - $750 Hughes - $3500
  19. I received feedback from a HERO representative (the e-mail where proxy bids were sent) and they replied with this: BONUS: If you are the winning bidder, at your discretion, CGC, the Certified Guaranty Company, will grade and encapsulate your book under its prestigious Signature Series for FREE. The CGC label will not only state the grade, but it will say who drew and signed the comic, the date that it was signed, that it was signed for the Hero Initiative, and all pertinent key and art comments. This is a $34 to $250 value, and you need pay ONLY $18 for return shipping for EACH book submitted. Your book will be sent DIRECTLY to CGC by the Hero Initiative, and returned to you upon its being graded and encapsulated.
  20. Kirby was such a genius -- and you do him great justice.
  21. Ok looks like we have 13 participants! Thanks all for playing my game -- the first auction is tonight (hoping prices are posted somewhere tonight).
