  1. No sigs on valuable books. And if I had a book signed, I'd want it signed on the interior, not the cover which always looks like damage to me. I realize in the slab era, if it's not on the cover it doesn't exist. Earlier in the year someone posted a reprint of the Flash Annual with a sig by Carmine Infantino. That's a great book to get signed. Makes a nothing book something special. Adventures of Kool-Aid Man autographed by the guy who voiced "Oh yeah!" That'd be a great sig book. Life of Pope John Paul II autographed by JP2? I'd go for that. Stan Lee signing an AF 15? Not for me.
  2. I don't have an eBay account so I don't know how any of this works. Is it possible to set up a dummy auction with the exact same search terms so that people searching for this auction will see that one too? And then just use it to inform people that the other is a fraud?
  3. Two great choices, Dan. (thumbs u I hadn't seen this cover before - it's fantastic!
  4. I'm not sure if this is the right thread but I didn't want to start a new one. What Archie archives/collections would you recommend for someone who is mostly interested in reading stories from the '40s and '50s but certainly wouldn't mind reading some later ones as well. I was looking at the Archie 1000 page Comic Digest coming out in June, but couldn't find a listing of contents. I was also considering the hardcover Archie Archives but they've gotten a lot of mixed reviews. I got hooked after a volume of Archie Americana Best of the '40s, and would love to read more.
  5. In general, I'm not a fan of the whole signature series idea, but books like this are EXACTLY the kind I would want to get signed. That Infantino sig turns this copy from a nice little reprint into something special, and doesn't do any damage to a lovely vintage book. Very cool!
  6. From what I recall (I think I just read a few in italian) Kull is a great series. I'm a sucker for all of Marvel's Howard adaptations. Kull the Conqueror/Destroyer wasn't up to the standard of Conan and the Barry Smith to John Buscema connection, but Kull had a fine lineup too: Severin(s), Ploog, Gil Kane, Ernie Chan. It definitely tailed off towards the end of the run, but the first 20 or so issues (it's been a while since I read the run) are a lot of fun. I was just pleased to walk into an LCS, search through the bins, and see a whole run of raw high grade bronze age books. Forget the great price, it's just been a long time since I've the pleasure of plucking one issue after another out of the bins, examining each and then adding it happily to a growing pile. I had forgotten what a true pleasure that experience can be. I've bought much more valuable books in the past year, but this run is my favorite acquisition in quite some time. And even though it's hard to wrap my brain around the thought, these are 40 year old books now!
  7. That is just cool around: the book, the article, and Rogues in the House. Fantastic. Now, quick, sell that book to me.
  8. My LCS was having a 60%-off sale and I was absolutely thrilled to find a high grade run of Kull the Conqueror in the back issue bins. #1 was only a VF but he had it priced crazy low (got it for $7 after the sale price) and then I picked up 5-25 all in NM- to NM+ each at about $5-$6 apiece. They will never be graded and never leave my collection. I'm even gonna do something crazy and sit down and read them all. It's been a while since I scooped up a lengthy, raw, high-grade bronze age run, and it feels good even if "Kull" isn't set for a movie, TV series, and video-game franchise that will quintuple the value of all his appearances every month.
  9. seems that the later printings are harder to find in quantity. ive been trying to find some (5+ copies of each) SAGA #1 2nd, 3rd and 4th prints, with no luck. I could run a copy off at Kinko's. The Kinko's reprint would be limited to a print run of 1. How much could I get for it?
  10. The idea of paying anything above cover price for a 2nd or subsequent print is the strangest thing that has happened to the hobby in the past 5-10 years.
  11. How bizarre. My LCS sold out of Revival #2 before the close of business Wednesday... but there are still 2 copies of Revival #1 sitting right on the shelf. The owner ordered the same amount on both.
  12. My goodness, this series sure is getting a lot of talk here. I can't say that's the case at my LCS. I was attracted by the cover, bought the book, and liked the story a lot. I decided to take a flyer and bought four more copies when the LCS was having a 50% off sale. I left two copies on the shelf because I never like to grab them all. The copies are still there. I asked the owner how many copies he ordered in total: ten. So there's my five and the two still up there. Meaning three other people in the whole store have bought it. I've recommended it to several people and nobody's heard of it. I have a feeling I just wasted my money, but at $1.50 a pop, no biggie. And I really do like that cover.
  13. Good grief, are they still trying to release this turkey? I think I saw it three years ago in Toronto. The end credits say "Based on the Character by Robert E. Howard" but I don't know which character 'cause it sure didn't have anything to do with Solomon Kane.
  14. Since most Comic Link (non-auction) items are listed as ridiculous Asking Prices, has anyone had any luck submitting real market bids. Say the asking price is $500 for a book that should sell at $300. Is it a total waste of time even to submit a bid, and better just to wait to see if it gets put up to an auction? And can it safely be assumed that if there's a ridiculous bid submitted on an even more ridiculous asking price that the bid is something less than legit?
