His description clearly states that the comic pictured is not the book that is being sold. The use of a sample image is not uncommon, but reputable dealers make it very clear, even at the risk of running off potential buyers.

This thread helped him refine his scheme. The mistakes that were pointed out on the other auction are addressed in the new auction. Now that he's read the ctrl-f remark, he will no doubt adjust the formatting to prevent that check as well.

Isn't the the exact reason it should be taken down?? eBay -slym It's contradictory since his specs at the top say the item's publication date is Aug 1962 and that the title is Amazing Fantasy. Is there a reprint of that issue that has all that info exactly like the original? The closest I can find apparently came out last year and was title "Amazing Fantasy 15: Spider-Man." It has a painted version of the cover and reprints both AF 15 and ASM 1. This is all assuming that anything will actually be sent. There could always be a cover fresh out of the inkjet, stapled to the front of any reprint of the story.

It would have been easier to make Gere look older than to make McKellen look younger. I'm not sure that Gere would have brought the sense of majesty to the role that McKellen evokes. If only we could have blended the best of both.

Okay Magneto by and large has always been in peak physical shape with being in his 50's look. Ian has never looked the part. He looks old and weak. You are right in the sense that Magneto has always been depicted quite muscular, since the beginning. But we must remember that any super-hero (or super-villain) type was depicted as more-muscular-than-average up to when new artists with a subtle approach (like Neal Adams in the Silver Age or John Byrne in the Bronze Age) started to differentiate the characterization. Magneto's transformation from a super-powered madman with no backstory to a sympathetic victim of multiple generations of discrimination is more striking than the change to his visual depiction over the same course of time.

Hey, I was kidding! I don’t know how to explain my point better. You have got to look at how artists draw children closely. Power Pack by Bogdanove is a great start! (thumbs u I like Bogdanove as an artist and I like schlock titles. Unfortunately Power Pack is a bit too schlocky even for my taste I still don't agree with you Cartooning (which describes most comic book art) is about creating a convincing illusion. Some find one style more convincing than another. We might as well argue that Charles Schulz drew children poorly, or that Bob Bolling did. Their styles are not realistic, but convincing in the context of their own worlds.

There's a deliberate attempt in all the photos to hide the top of the case. There's no reason for me to think the comic in this photo is even the same one as the other photo, especially given that the seller admits none of the photos are the comic being sold.

Step 1. Copy/paste from Wikipedia. Step 2. Insert small print disclaimer amid wall of text. Step 3. Take the money and run. I'm glad it's reported. It should be a no-brainer for eBay. Then again… What is it with North Carolina and comics?

I don't own this one. (and of course, I have to point out, this wasn't published or released in my birth month, but about three months prior to its cover date, as most comic books were back in the 20th century.)

I have always loved that cover since the day I first saw it. I have a 9.8 non-Ped undercopy available now Does it have a horrible miscut like your new copy. Hey!!! Thats only considered a slight miscut for a What If! Actually, i think my under copy is better aligned but i cant find the scan at the moment My copy has an almost identical cut to the slabbed one.

It's the ultra-rare 180º misprint!

Wow Steve, nice Little A 21. I have a copy but some kid drew eyeglasses on Archie with a pen. I have searched everywhere for a replacement but any time I see one it's trashed. Why so scarce? No idea But 20 and 21 definitely seem scarcer than the surrounding issues... I picked up a mid-grade issue 20 because I was tired of looking for anything better. All of Bolling's issues are treasures, but issue 20 has "The Long Walk" which is a touching and heartfelt story.

When Samm came back to Jughead around issue 179, he stuck with it to the end of the first series. Pretty much every issue I have in that range has all Jughead stories by Samm and most covers by DeCarlo. I never gave thought to the variants, but now I've got one more thing to add to my list.

I thought every comic artist had that rough period at the beginning where they were still refining their skills and just glad to have a job. I've never seen Alan Davis' rough beginnings. It all looks great.

In this case, a pair of pieces of archival tape would have been better. I understand it’s delicate, but it’s precisely for that reason: tape is worse. Yes. Archival tape isn't that expensive, and on the inside cover would have been better as well. Regular tape degrades the paper. I know, it's a beat up comic, but it's such a nice minor key to have in any condition.
