  1. What about the other 250 who are getting a significantly more valuable collectible because it is more rare than anticipated? They get the benefit of my neurosis. Depriving people is what makes comics have value. I didn't invent that. I didn't think of it like that, but I don't know it necessarily follows that the other 250 owners get more value - there's no way of telling how many of the people who don't own the 250 you own (in our imaginary scenario) would want to keep their copy if they got hold of one, and how many would want to sell.
  2. Hard to explain. I only have a couple of titles that I buy, so my dollars aren't spread around. When it comes to limited print runs of my favorite comics, I really enjoy knowing that I have the most extensive collection. It's hard, because the registry doesn't really reward multiple copies, rather completeness of a series. In my heart, I don't really care about having YLTM#37 in 9.8, but I like having four 9.8 copies of YLTM#1... Saga#1 RRP will probably be the only true scarce, high demand comic that this series will ever have. If I could own half of them, I would... Seth That's the bit I don't understand. Would it bother you that you would be depriving 250 (or whatever it is) other fans of the series of the chance to own a scarce, collectible issue? Especially if you wouldn't be intending to sell them, you wouldn't get extra registry points and you could easily have the most extensive collection without owning half. It probably sounds like I'm having a go at you, and I'm honestly not - I'm just genuinely fascinated by different collectors' mindsets. At the end of the day it's your money and you are obviously entitled to spend it how you like! Adam
  3. I would love to see a 5-10 year jump in the series. Even if just a short while for a couple of arcs. That's a cool idea. I always thought it would be cool if Kirkman switched to a different cast of characters in a different part of the world and told their story from the beginning of the zombie outbreak. Make the readers care about them over 20 issues until they run into Rick's crew and kill each other. I prefer the different cast idea to the jump into the future one. It's hard to see how the latter would be possible without significant spoilers as to the fate of the current group. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that WD was slated to run for 300 issues or so. If that's true, there's plenty of scope for taking a different angle on the story before it ends - and Kirkman would have to in order to keep things fresh over such a long period. My wild guess at this point is that whenever the end of the series comes, it'll be in the future, probably with Carl as an adult as opposed to further along. Not sure it would be a long arc, although that's a cool idea - I'd see it as more likely one issue like the end of . The only other things I can think of that, based on what we've seen so far, would make sense to finish things off are: - Rick's death; or - some sort of deus ex machina cure or event that wiped out all the zombies and put the world back to (relative) normality I know a lot of people like the idea of Rick going to prove that no one is safe, but I'm not one of them! And I don't think the story is the same without the ever-present danger - so my guess is that the zombies stay. Whatever - I'm enjoying the story at the moment and excited for Something To Fear, never mind years down the line!
  4. I'm not knocking you (although I probably would be if I hadn't managed to grab a reasonably priced copy...), but why do you want to have so many copies? Is it being able to sit there and think "nobody has as many copies as me bwahahahahaha", evil genius style? I guess I just don't understand why owning 8 copies would give a person so much more enjoyment than owning 1 or 2, if your goal genuinely isn't to turn around and sell. Would be interested to hear. Oh, and sell me one of your Fables 6 RRPs!
  5. Yeah, I did mine. My LCS had loads of #2 left so I grabbed one for the purpose. Was fun. I went with Donatello as the aethiest Ninja Turtle.
  6. Mate, Staples has done all the art for Saga on computer as far as I am aware - so unless you are talking about a sketch I'd be a bit worried...
  7. We stank the place up. Now let's never speak of this again.
  8. In case this hasn't been posted already, the preview of #96 is up: Walking Dead #96 preview Annoyingly, I can't read it on my work computer, so will have to wait until I get home!
  9. Good review. And I agree that I am totally sold on this book after only two issues - I really hope the quality stands up over time. It's blowing away most of the rest of what I am reading at the moment.
  10. Nice one. Will be looking out for more of these from you. Had a couple of quid on Neptune Collonges at 44/1 - pleased with that! Also managed to score all four prints of Saga #1 plus the Diamond variant for £45 - I posted in the Saga thread about the seller, so hopefully no issues... Not a bad weekend overall. Going to the Emirates tonight so hopefully the Arse can keep the good feelings going...
  11. Possible, but then he's gone to the trouble of printing them on very glossy stock. The listings also say "in hand" and "these comics have come to me..."
  12. Guys, any idea whether these auctions are genuine? I'm not bothered personally (I have the future printings on order with my LCS anyway), but seems weird. Is it possible these are in hand already, or is this a photoshop job do you think? Saga #1 - 3rd print Saga #1 - 4th print Nothing that's obviously non-legit about the seller that I can see. He also has an auction for the second print of #1 which ended on 4 April, for which he's received positive feedback. Thoughts?
  13. There used to be an enormous LCS in Bristol called Forever People - I loved that place. Spent ages digging in their crates (mostly for 2000AD back issues!). It closed a long time ago. Now there's Forbidden Planet and Area 51 - but the latter is quite expensive and not great for back issues. I have to say I'm not totally on board with the FP hate. Yes, their back issues are rubbish/non-existent, but they are the only UK chain that has the purchasing power to stock a massive range of titles, even indies, to keep a wide audience interested. Having said that, I barely ever go there, despite working a 5 minute bus ride away. I use APiS for my off-eBay subscriptions and many of my on-eBay purchases. As far as back issues go I find it's way more cost effective to buy TPBs from Amazon! Not quite as fun though...
  14. APIS is still in Croydon and has been there for a while. They also took over Comicana, then had to move when the lease on the building ran out. I had thought they were planning to relocate that store somewhere in central London and keep the Croydon one, but seems not. Orbital is still going strong and has a reasonable back issue selection. Then of course there is FP - other than those three I'm not sure what the central options are.
  15. Pay with Paypal using a credit card. Paypal should cover you, as they almost always side with the buyer. If that doesn't work out, your credit card company should have your back. Actually, your credit card co. won't. Little know fact, but if you pay through any third party payment provider (like Paypal) they are not obliged to cover you if things go wrong. Paypal are though.
  16. Once again found myself referring to this topic today. Very useful stuff - still not clear why it isn't stickied!
  17. Nah. After LSCC it can only suck. I'd like to go just to get a few things signed by Scott Snyder. Also keen for this, but only if there will be a CGC facilitator about - no news on that yet...
  18. Amen to that. Lost interest in the CL after the Arse got knocked out...
  19. Are any of the UK boardies going to the Emerald City con? Might have a cheeky request to make if so... Adam
  20. Just discovered this thread - excellent stuff Michael.
  21. Love Risso. Awesome page! Thanks, I'm a big fan of his too, especially 100 Bullets. A gift from my wife on our first anniversary - very well received!
  22. Hi guys - I only have a very small original art collection, but some pieces that I really like: 1) first page of issue #100 of 100 Bullets [/img] 2) the two pages of Batman RIP when he first hears "Zur-en-Arrh" [/img] 3) Lee Garbett's pencils from a great page of Return of Bruce Wayne #6 [/img]
