  1. The period of several months in late '43- early '44 when a lot of books were briefly 60 pages on the way from 68 to 52. It seems like not only are the books scarce as companies start to deal with paper rationing, the weird way a lot of them had half-wraps and one staple make them a pain to find complete, much less in any sort of condition.
  2. 149 and 150. Less than 100 issues to go of the core title, although with the giants we actually have a few more than that left here:
  3. That is a beauty of a book! One thing that comes to mind on the Halloween issues is they may just have had a very short window when they were current relative to the Vacation and Christmas issues. Vacation is good for all summer, and Christmas seems to have come out quite early going by the dates, as people went shopping for stocking stuffers I presume. (As my posting shows, by date it was only a month after Halloween that it was released.) Halloween is pretty much over Nov. 1st; and even in my lifetime the 'window' for when Halloween stuff is out for sale has expanded enormously... I don't see it getting much love before October back then. As mentioned, here's Christmas Funnies 4 (same month as the 145) and 146:
  4. Halloween Parade #1 (same month as the 144) and 145. The Halloween Parade #1 was my last of the Bugs giants, I believe. The Halloween giants in general are a lot harder than the others to track down for some reason.
  5. 143 and 144. A rare Sniffles appearance on a cover, not particularly funny but it brings a smile to my face.
  6. I'm having fun with it. In a lot of cases, it's the first time I've really LOOKED at the covers in years. Vacation Funnies #3 (Same month as 141) and 142. The VC 3 might be my first Dell Giant, but I'm not positive... it was definitely an early one for me.
  7. Good luck on that search. As my copies make clear, I'm not trying for high grade- just getting them all. 136 and 137:
  8. #133 and Christmas Funnies #3 from the same month. The #133, like several others around here, is just WEIRD... not so much Bugs getting a Tattoo as Porky being the artist...
  9. #128 and #129. Two Dentist gags in four months; I think this one is funnier (or at least weirder) of the two.
  10. #126 and #127. These few months with the lower case months on the cover just look weird to me...
  11. Onward! #121 and Christmas Funnies #2 from the same month:
  12. #119 and #120. Interesting to see the logo change around here, with the 119 they finally settle down but it did take them a few issues to figure out exactly what they wanted.
  13. I remember in high school, on a trip one weekend, our teacher getting our school bus into a Drive-In Theater. It was a tight fit through the gate. #116 and #117
