  1. If you only have one, that's an excellent choice, MM!
  2. Now, of course, I just need to polish off the rest of the Operator #5 series. 33 down, 15 to go...
  3. So some of the issues are beat up. But I've wanted to put together a complete run of these for decades, ever since I heard about the storyline in Steranko's History. And today I completed the set: I give you: The Purple Invasion!
  4. Planet Stories are always fun, and this one has the first Eric John Stark story by Leigh Brackett.
  5. Not nearly as impressive as the issues others have been showing off the past couple days: But with the only story Robert Heinlein ever did for Weird Tales, and one of only two John D. Macdonald did for them, I'm very happy to have added it to my oh-so-small WT collection.
  6. That looks like fun. I know the characters actually crossed over quite a bit in the early issues, that diminished a lot but never quite went away as the series went on.
  7. And as expected, this one gives me the full run from 100-200; or more fully 89-211, for an unbroken run of 123 issues or exactly half the run:
  8. These are the first pages from issues 20-25, the Pat Patsy & Pete feature started earlier but these are the only 6 installments Kelly did. As best I can tell, Kelly did 14 stories for Looney Tunes: 6 Kandi the Cave Kid, 6 Pat Patsy & Pete, a one-shot story called King Hickory Stickory and the Dragon, and one Bugs Bunny story. Other than the first two Kandi stories I've got all the Kelly issues . (Overstreet says there's a Kandi story in issue 6 but there isn't; it's correct on 3-5, 8, 11, and 15).
  9. And, by special request from 40Yrs over in the funny animal thread, some Kelly pages from Looney Tunes.
  10. And a couple more Looney Tunes (182 down, 64 to go): Almost done with the run from 100-200, these are 2 of the last 3 from that span that I need and the 3rd should be on the way. And while Looney Tunes is probably the easiest title to do it with, a 100 issue run of a book from the 50's is still a fun milestone to hit.
  11. Not sure if this is actually rat chew, or just an odd rough rip. But still not pretty... Still happy to get it, I've been looking for this book for quite a while and it just doesn't show up...
  12. I'm a HUGE Kelly fan, as well; to be honest the only reasons I'm trying to get more than the first few issues of LT/MM I picked up are the Kelly issues and the Mary Jane & Sniffles stories. But I absolutely love the MJ & Sniffles stories. Very happy getting this one, I don't think any of the LT/MM issues are actually rare in any meaningful sense but I have the impression the 2 and 5 are the trickiest of the run to locate.
  13. My most recent LT/MM; 180 down, 66 to go. And this is my earliest issue to date: And an interior page by Walt Kelly for fun: I'm the first to admit that this is not a high-grade copy. But, to the seller and any others like them out there: If this is what you consider a 1.0, I want to see your other books in that grade.
  14. If I was made of money, I would love to get a Pogo run together. I can barely afford what I do collect though; so, I guess I will just have covet what you post! If you're not too picky on condition, Pogo and Animal Comics are relatively affordable and easy to find. Mind you, in the case of the early 40's issues "relative" is a key word. But I think Animal Comics in general may have set some sort of record for how LITTLE the price has gone up the past few decades on a 40's book with a big name Artist/ Character combo on it.
  15. Unless I'm much mistaken that panel is by John Stanley, taken from the interior story.
  16. Target Comics v1n1- v2n3. While it's not my favorite series in general, it's probably my favorite anthology as a whole. The first 15 issues have at least two of the following creators on each issue, frequently more: Bill Everett, Carl Burgos, Jack Cole, Tarpe Mills, Basil Wolverton, Joe Simon. I just wish I had more than 5 of the 15 issues!
  17. Nice books! I've been waffling on grabbing the lower grade Flaming Western on eBay for a while, myself- it's the last LB Cole Target cover I need, even if the book is no longer Target at that point.
  18. Nice! I've got the originals and the Eclipse reprints and Pogo Parade, but a good thick hardcover would STILL be a nice addition to the collection. Now if Fantagraphics would just finish Our Gang and somebody would do Fairy Tale Parade and Peter Wheat...
  19. Somewhat off-center, but I have the impression this is one of the harder issues of the series to find, if not the hardest. One of my favorite series; I really need to go ahead and find the last few issues I need...
  20. And I'm miles from the first to post this cover, but I think this is the first time I've posted MY copy:
  21. Everett is far from an ignored artist, but it still seems like his rep isn't as high as it deserves to be. His precode stuff is just amazing. Hmm, perhaps I should go re-read my VENUS 13 and 14...
  22. Here's one I don't think I've posted here yet; it was the first Cole cover I ever owned:
