From Borderlands Books in SF today.  I let a friend have my copies of Illuminatus back in the 90’s, figuring they were common back then.  But I just never see the 3 volume version anymore.  It’s only been the last few years I’ve been looking in particular, though.

We've dropped to page two again.  Knowing Barry will unleash mayhem if we get as low as page three, here are some I got today to bump us:

I've had pretty good luck in record stores over the years with magazines.  Vintage music mags but also things like National Lampoon, High Times, etc.  Don't think I've ever seen any pbs, though!
Here's a case where I didn't go for the first PB because I like the art on a later edition better.

Quick bookkeeping note:  I'll be on vacation next week, so @Jayman has agreed to step in and post the starter message Saturday night/ Sunday morning.  We're also in the early stages of working on a plan so that running the club is spread out a bit more.

Also, not the main point here, but I'd just like to flag that you're making me want to collect The Texan and I'm not happy about that.

Today’s find.  Visiting my sister in San Francisco, all but one of these were from a record store that has a single small bookshelf of random books:

    Creepy #44
    March 1972
    From the Warren Magazine Index:

    9) Dorian Gray: 2001 [Al Hewetson/William Barry] 8p
    10) Sleep [Kevin Pagan/Mike Ploog] 8p
Notes: Size & price increase to 72 pages & 75 cents. New Uncle Creepy intro faces by Richard Corben appear.  Steve Skeates explained the reasons behind his story ‘A Chronicle’ to a reader on the letters’ page, leading to a short-lived feature, ‘The Story Behind…’, wherein writers explained the origins of their stories.  Future comic writer David Michelinie made his comics debut on the fan page.  Kevin Pagen & Mike Ploog contributed the best story with the excellent ‘Sleep’.  The Strnad/Bea story was quite good too.

Looking forward to reviews on this one. Kind of a gruesome “in your face” cover here that I know they turned into a shirt you could order. Underpants too!!!

interesting, not sure who inked. the normal handling of clothing and composition for most westerns were not well done. I think the way the clothe drapes over , the way the horse ears and tufts match up, the well done anatomy of the male figure says Baker ( especially more Baker when compared to many PL), I did discuss with a couple other Baker collectors before hand, maybe too many hence the price on the last auction, lol.

And not to pick on Lubber but grabbed a st. john randomly to see the difference especially on the clothe and comp.

Island Ecstasy - Amos Hatter (1952.Cameo Books 318) cover
I'm unsure of the artist here, but the work is adorable and looks familiar.  Amos Hatter in the other hand is a mystery.  Real name James W. Lumpp (?) and also using pseudonyms James W. Lampp, Ben West, Frederic Spencer, Homer Hatten, Anne Farrington, William Vaneer and Delmar Kingsland.  He's responsible for many of the madcap titles seen across the digest and paperback threads like Untamed Woman, Love Cult, Waterfront Girl, No Time for Sleep, Loves of a Girl Wrestler, Girl of the Midway, Backroad Motel, Secrets of a Co-Ed and other literary classics
