  1. Looking through dealers website, I came across what I can only describe as split covers (or panel covers), covers divided in two three or more images.

How do you feel about those covers ? Is it a good thing, a bad thing ? Do you own some ?

    For example (not mine) :

    17177868%5D,sizedata%5B850x600%5D&call=u

    1777327%5D,sizedata%5B850x600%5D&call=ur

  2. I recently bought three illustrations from artist Mark Salwowski (https://www.salwowski.com/) :

Barrayar, an unpublished cover for a Lois McMaster Bujold book. According to the artist "the artwork was done in the UK in the early 90’s" Despite its title I wonder if this painting could have been for another of Lois McMaster Bujold books in the Barrayar/Vorkosigan series. It doesn't really fit the "Barrayar" novel and would have been more appropriate for "The Warrior's Apprentice" or "The Vor Game" , since the male character looks like he could be the small Miles Vorkosigan who doesn't appear much in Barrayar.

Earth shuttle and Comet rendezvous, illustrations for Omega (Australian science magazine). I was only interested in the cover at first but considering Mr Salwowski very reasonnable prices, the shipping cost and my own taste for sci-fi / space art it was a no brainer to add those two pieces. And they're quite big.

  3. I really enjoyed the Shockrockets series when it was published in France.

Therefore, I'm very happy to own four pages that makes for a nice sequence of "hero rising from the ashes of defeat and ready to kick " with top notch storytelling.

Here, you can almost hear the engines coming to live and beginning to roar, the thunder behind the Shockrockets.

    Stuart Immonen (Penciller)
    Wade Von Grawbadger (Inker)

  4. After spending a lot of time looking at auctions, and bidding without much hope to win ... I won ! (a Barry Kitson Legion page for those who wonder)

    I've received the invoice.

I've noticed the shipping would be invoiced separately.

Two days agos, I've asked if they could hold the art for a few weeks/months, explaining that being overseas, I wish to combine the shipping cost with future bids (meaning I will bid a bit more aggressively).

    I've received no answer.

    Is it normal ?

    Is my request reasonnable ?

Is my english that bad ?

  5. Finally took the time to scan a different kind of OA :

Vellum overlays featuring the original lettering of Todd Klein for Deathblow, Supreme ... (He sold them through his website as a bulk, years ago)

You can have a look at them in my CAF gallery : https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetailsearch.asp?gcat=73443&Artist=Todd Klein&order=Title&pi=18

That led me to think about the different kinds of OA, apart from pages, like the Style guide, Studies, Character Design, licensing art, advertising art, ...

Do you have any oddities like that to share ?
