  1. With eBay and the Internet , this is the way to go nowadays (thumbs u Al Gore was still inventing the internet back then. On the flipside, in the early 90s there were sports cards shops virtually on every corner in any given town. And many of them sold comics via spinner rack. Good times.
  2. I bought tons of sports cards when I was a kid. And I was always disappointed. I bought pack after pack of 93 Upper Deck basketball cards trying to score the Shaq rookie card. In retrospect I would have been much better off just buying the Shaq card for $50 instead of playing the pack lottery $3 at a time.
  3. I totally get it. Arch and I have had PM conversations on the topic several times. Basically what it boils down to is if it creates an overburden on the moderators then it's a problem. Which is understandable, it's a resource and one that's not to be taken for granted. I didn't say I was going to bounce out of here. But my obvious preference on selling is mystery box...it allows me to receive and move a heavy volume in a short amount of time. What I do, while the numbers sound big, does not take the place of primary income so I'm still working this stuff on the side. There for a brief while last year I thought about going full time, but then realized that the pool of buyers for these types of items was finite. So I was in that weird place where my volume was high, but not high enough to go full time, but still high enough to warrant doing the sales. Honestly, when I saw loot crate take off I was kicking myself for not trying to do that model first. The reason I did three pricing tiers was because it was suggested by buyers. The reason I do a minimum of $150 is because it allows me to pack a medium flat rate box full of stuff. Also, if you look at the boards terms of use guidelines, one of the first things that it says it that this place is supposed to be a place of positive interaction and experiences, so if enough people are saying that these types of sales are a burden on upholding that mission then it's understandable. I'm not mic dropping and walking out, I'm just saying, that this platform, these boards, generated a lot of sales for me, and in turn those sales generated a lot of income for sellers here...so if I'm not able to do this platform here then maybe I can find somewhere else to do it...maybe not...if I can then sure I'll keep sourcing the boards for product when I spot a good deal, if not then I'll just be decreasing my volume of purchases. For the most part my collection has everything in it that I want so most of my purchases ultimately end up in my Mystery Boxes. So I guess that the real trick is finding another place to offer the product and if it succeeds then great, if not then at least I'm not doing it full time. You can always start a website and advertise it here. I'm sure your customers will follow you.
  4. And who the heck is throwing $1500 at a mystery box? That's just bananas.
  5. This is the essence of why mystery box sales are untenable. In order for the seller to make the concept workable he'll have to create enough winner boxes to appease the buyers but will have to balance that value with loser boxes. It is those who get screwed in the deal that are going to come into this thread and complain, and the administrators of this site should spare themselves the headache by disallowing them completely. A successful sales thread is when the seller and all buyers are satisfied, not just those that "won".
  6. It baffles me that this many people are willing to gamble away $150 on these dumb mystery boxes.
  7. Picked up an Eclipse Extra 44 and a Spanish MM 15. Neither are at a grade level worth slabbing but they're still pretty cool.
  8. I was one of the 4 people that PMed but I did not make an offer. I simply asked, "Is this still available?" which was in response to the post last night that stated the book was "pending". I didn't know what that meant so I merely inquired. After my PM was sent it then came to light that the seller was simply being impatient with the buyer. My PM was never even responded to and I didn't follow up when I saw what was going on. Soooooooooo...
  9. In light of subsequent posts I deleted my comment.
  10. I assume he has everything auto-routed from CGC to MCS because he lives in Canada.
  11. It's free of charge if CGC made the error. Ship it back. +1 I just had to do this with an east of west double cover that was mislabeled and they were very helpful and the process was quick especially compared to how long my fast track took in the first place Good call. I'll have to send it back to them with my next submission. I went searching for a UK copy online and found this copy raw on ebay. There was no mention of the Moore signature in the listing so I was pretty stoked when I received it and found it inside.
  12. Am I crazy or is there a labeling error on this? Shouldn't this denote that it's a UK variant?
  13. Fast shipping, extremely well protected and a nice deal. No complaints here!
  14. How many offers have you received in your PM box?
  15. I like the cover. It's killer because I like it. It is not arguable.
