  1. Well in truth why should they, I mean we all complain and tell them what we would like from them (no stickers, updated website, being able to save something to a watchlist, etc.) but whats their insensitive do they have to actually do it? Even though we don't like some of the things they do we still buy from them, and use them to sell, knowing they'll put stickers on the comics we send to them. They seem to be doing quite well, getting good prices at auction, and such so if their business model is working for them do they really have to change it to make them us happy? We keep using them the way they are so there's really no pressure on them to get it done.

Because we would have more confidence to buy more often.

  2. So, I've been really battling with the idea of grabbing the first 25 issues in HG. 9.2/9.4's basically.

It's been eating at me. I get antsy looking around, then I say to myself, "you know what Erndog... you've got a lot of other wants too. Some other keys, statues, hardcovers... maybe you're spreading yourself too thin?" and then I back off from the idea.

Then a few days pass and I think of it again and it starts eating at me again. And I say "ah, make it a life goal. You don't need all 25 in high grade right away. You have em all as mid-grades in your run. Just pick at them slowly, maybe a few a year or when the opportunity presents itself."

I'm torn! Because I know once I start it becomes an infatuation. Like a race against time! lol

You can't go wrong with DD. I don't have 2-14 myself with the exception of 4. They do come up often enough but I don't seem to find deals like Rob. Most auctions for those require you to pay up front too and I have had a clink buy I didn't care for. You are welcome to my #4 but it's a VF.

  3. Steranko seems like a stand up guy and one of the artists I'd like to meet besides John romita sr. I've only met one artist and I've only been to two comic cons but mike zeck was a stand up guy. Very nice and helpful ill never forget that as well. One of the coolest artists out there I'm sure.

I saw Steranko at SDCC in 2006 at the Vanguard booth. They had an end booth as I recall, and it extended into the first booth on either side, so it was a big space. Steranko stood in the middle of it and pretty much didn't make contact unless an item was purchased. I took him to be stand-offish, but this seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

My first Tony Moore meting wasn't stellar, he just didn't seem interested in being there. I met him again this year in KC and we struck up a conversation about Fear Agent, going on about the EC comics that inspired it. Complete 180 from the first time.

Meeting Jim Lee was a downer, but again, by all accounts, I just walked up at a bad moment. He never looked up, just scribbled his name and kept going. His handlers are the only ones that spoke, and all they had to say was "hurry up."

I don't get that about the assistants at the show. If you spend all that time lining up to give your money, they can wait a few moments while you prepare exchange when you get there. I don't risk my cash being exposed or comics/art being damaged while I am in line. If they don't like how I am giving away my money at the front of the line, too bad for them, not too bad for me.

  4. I would say a lot of celebrities (movie, tv) at the cons have issues. Adam West was an unpleasant surprise. He didn't behave rudely to me, but he was not very warm either and I have actually seen him put a fan to tears. I don't look at that tv show the same anymore. I almost prefer not to meet the celeb and just collect the autograph.

I haven't talked much with comic book artists much but they are generally worth giving your attention too. They are much nicer. Neal Adams is a pretty decent fellow.

There was a time when real Hollywood stars like Marlon Brando would sign for free. Even stars like Monroe and Harlowe would give secretarial autographs to their fans, but they at least cared.

If I was a celeb with a dwindling fan base I wouldn't be upsetting what little fans I had left.

Cassandra Peterson was a pleasure to meet at the cons. Very nice.

  5. I am not crazy about Deborah Woll joining as I don't really think she's that hot.

I actually like the casting for MM/DD as I think C. Cox was a pretty darn good actor in Boardwalk Empire. I hated to see his character go.

I hope this makes Netflix in Canada. We never seem to get as good a deal as the Americans here.

  6. Finally saw it.

I think the make up and cgc were very good. The story overall was pretty good except

    Xavier's drug problem

I think the heroes could have had more action roles. Winter soldier gets my nod for superhero of the year. We'll see if Sin City beats it for comic film of the year. DC should hurry up and come out with better quality films.

Overall, I like first class better.

  7. At the height of comics movies, when 'The Dark Knight", "Iron Man", and "Avengers" came out, I was hearing that people were tiring of super hero movies. Basically, word of mouth. Being a long time comic fan, I can stomach even a bad comic book movie.

If you put enough CGI in something over the summer break, people will come to see it. Even junk like "Transformers". Soon to be 4 pieces of junk in a row.
