  1. Sweet book! Where's the written date on the cover?
  2. Why remove it from the census? The book still exists, right? They still exist, in that I don't think the owner shreds the book. It's just that if a book is removed from the slab, no one tells CGC, and then the book is resubmitted and reslabbed without telling CGC that it was previously slabbed, then there will be doublecounting in the census. What COI's doing is fine, because if he does resub at some point, he'll provide the old label, so that CGC can drop the old book from the census at the same time they add the new book.
  3. Hope you'll return the label so they can remove the copy from the census, though.
  4. Did he provide you with the original label, or at least some back-up documentation on the pedigree so you can get the pedigree status if you resubmit to CGC?
  5. That's an insane price for a PLOD 9.4, even taking into account my bias against PLODs!
  6. That is indeed a very sharp book. The more I see of the Northlands, the more impressed I become by their great preservation and eye appeal. I owned a 9.4 copy of JIM 88 too at one point, but it had some tanning on the front cover that really ruined its eye appeal, even though structurally it was very solid.
  7. No question, we have a winner. At least you're philosophical about passing on a pedigree..... Since Tom ended up with quite a few of the Western Penn DCs, I imagine there's a reason why he's able to be philosophical about it.
  8. Back in 1998 or so Vintage Investments was offering the Bethlehem copy of TOS 39 for $7000. I dithered about whether to buy it and by the time I pulled the trigger, it was already sold (to Mark Arrand aka Colmore Comics as I've subsequently discovered). They offered me a replacement NM TOS 39 for $6000, which I bought. The Bethlehem copy subsequently graded out as a 9.4 and the copy I bought only graded out as a 9.2.
  9. I didn't think Americans knew that phrase. They don't! Well, since comics like Hellblazer and Transmetropolitan came out, some do. It was commonly used in the US Army as early as the mid-80s!
  10. You've got good taste in books! What's knocking that Winnipeg to a 9.4? At least from what I can see it looks immaculate.
  11. Nice WM! And welcome to the Boards!
  12. well, there you go, then................. Yeah, you might as well burn the damn thing.
  13. Very nice pick ups, Steve! That TTA 60 is hard to find in great structural shape, although I've seen more than a few that had killer gloss. That TTA 61 is fabulous too, it looks like the white cover Northlands managed to avoid that "oily paper yellow" so common in Marvels.
  14. What are you, a doctor or something? Oh, right... Nice book. It`s so hard to find white cover Marvels that don`t end up developing that typical Marvel "oil paper" yellowing.
  15. What would you say are the grades of the Salida OAW 81 and 83 and GI Combat 68 and 87?
  16. But how many books can you identify as a pedigree without being told? From a scan, I'm not sure I could spot any, other than those with distinctive writing (e.g., Church, WM). But lots of books have date stamps, could you tell a Salidas date stamp apart from other date stamps?

  18. Welcome to the dark side! DCs rool okay! I wish I could show some new pedigree DCs, but I haven't bought any in ages.
  19. Brad, are the copies that you posted raw or slabbed? What would you say is the grade of these GR OAWs?
  20. Awesome cover! I might have to get me one of them thar GR Sgt Rocks!
  21. Namisgr, awesome books, and congrats on the grades!
