  1. Nice pick ups, DL. You don't see the Sgt Fury 42 very often. But, er, what pedigree are these from?
  2. I guess it'd be ironic if I ripped you off now after getting you to confirm how I could best hide the money away.
  3. So if I sell something and am paid by Paypal, once I transfer the funds from my Paypal account to my bank account, am I insulated against any bogus clawbacks by a buyer? Can Paypal reach into the bank account that is "connected" to my Paypal account and withdraw funds from that account without my permission?
  4. I don't get it. Sellers are constantly posting on here about how easy it is for a buyer who has paid with Paypal to get their money back, and how difficult it is to insulate yourself from a Paypal clawback. Now we're saying how difficult it is as a buyer to get your money back through Paypal. Which is it? Both positions can't be right.
  5. Thanks. I could never find Waldo either. Is that what you named it? Makes perfect sense now. I guess if Batman shows up, the boy wonder can't be far behind. No problem, just like Jevon Kearse, I'm used to being double-teamed all the time. Sorry, but you walked right into that one. I couldn't help myself. I had hoped you had been successfully quarantined to the restoration thread. Okay, this particular thread happens to be one of the really good threads on these boards, so I'm going to leave it now and not sidetrack it anymore.

  7. Good one! Now don't you have some Robin photo shopping to do?
  8. Thanks. I could never find Waldo either.
  9. Sweet book! Where's the written date on the cover?
  10. Why remove it from the census? The book still exists, right? They still exist, in that I don't think the owner shreds the book. It's just that if a book is removed from the slab, no one tells CGC, and then the book is resubmitted and reslabbed without telling CGC that it was previously slabbed, then there will be doublecounting in the census. What COI's doing is fine, because if he does resub at some point, he'll provide the old label, so that CGC can drop the old book from the census at the same time they add the new book.
  11. Hope you'll return the label so they can remove the copy from the census, though.
  12. Did he provide you with the original label, or at least some back-up documentation on the pedigree so you can get the pedigree status if you resubmit to CGC?
  13. That's an insane price for a PLOD 9.4, even taking into account my bias against PLODs!
  14. That is indeed a very sharp book. The more I see of the Northlands, the more impressed I become by their great preservation and eye appeal. I owned a 9.4 copy of JIM 88 too at one point, but it had some tanning on the front cover that really ruined its eye appeal, even though structurally it was very solid.
  15. No question, we have a winner. At least you're philosophical about passing on a pedigree..... Since Tom ended up with quite a few of the Western Penn DCs, I imagine there's a reason why he's able to be philosophical about it.
  16. Back in 1998 or so Vintage Investments was offering the Bethlehem copy of TOS 39 for $7000. I dithered about whether to buy it and by the time I pulled the trigger, it was already sold (to Mark Arrand aka Colmore Comics as I've subsequently discovered). They offered me a replacement NM TOS 39 for $6000, which I bought. The Bethlehem copy subsequently graded out as a 9.4 and the copy I bought only graded out as a 9.2.
  17. I didn't think Americans knew that phrase. They don't! Well, since comics like Hellblazer and Transmetropolitan came out, some do. It was commonly used in the US Army as early as the mid-80s!
  18. You've got good taste in books! What's knocking that Winnipeg to a 9.4? At least from what I can see it looks immaculate.
