  1. Nice, nice, and nice! Is this your first Gaines File book? It's my second. I'm planning to buy one a year until I have them all
  2. Me, too. I was sure that 12X Guide would have been enough
  3. Yup, it was me I've always loved that cover, and the chance to pick up a Crowley with OWW pages was just too much to pass up.
  4. But what are you doing bidding on GA?
  5. Thanks Angelo. Since I didn't win the book I wanted most (Church Pep 50) I had to console myself with these And welcome back (thumbs u
  6. My understanding is that Capt. Midnight was not original to comics, so like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse I was not really including him in the rankings. By your method, the Human Torch and Blue Beetle would be at the same tier (both had their own titles and headlined others). So, yes I would consider that Blue Beetle might have been a more "important" character in the '40s than the Human Torch... But my real point was that the first tier category in your post was very broad and probably needed some way to distinguish Superman from Blackhawk, or Dollman, or the Blue Beetle... Whether my proposal of appearances in other media was the best way is certainly open to discussion, though.
  7. I like the list, but I think the 1st tier needs to be broken up into two tiers. I would define the true superstar characters as ones that not only had their own title and were the lead in another title, but were also successful in other media: radio, movies, newspaper comic strips. Off the top of my head I would put Superman, Capt. Marvel, Batman and Archie in that category. Otherwise, you're going to have Superman cheek-by-jowl with (for example) Blackhawk...
  8. It's one of my favorite MLJ runs--you get lots of characters in one title. And there's only 9 issues so it isn't too tough to put together. Good thing I'm done with mine
  9. Big kudos to innocuous for superfast shipping (I paid on Saturday and they arrived on Monday ) and a bargain price on two nice GA #1s
  10. I don't think I've seen a copy for sale that was better than GD, well done! I've never seen a copy at all Great book BP
  11. Those are awesome I especially like the Weird Fantasy
  12. But on the other hand, Jerome, you have 60 of the 91
  13. I thought the correct designation for Want List Dave was Oklahoma Dave
  14. Anyone who was seriously buying HG and pedigree GA books in the '70s and '80s (and kept them...) has done very well financially with them.
  15. Mike, the first copy was gone before the replacement came in. had to trade it for an air fighters 2 that closed my run. same grade, same paper, as i recall. unfortunately, the one i traded away was the cosmic aeroplane, but it did go to a friend, at least.
