  1. I agree also with this advice, although it should be said that the 30 day rule defines only the necessary "waiting period" before actions can begin, it is not a limitation on actions thereafter. I'm guessing that is left to common sense and custom, for what they are worth.
  2. Just seeing this. So he is refusing an offer of a full refund?
  3. This got lost in the Chuck Gower love-in and does need addressing. OP, have you PM'd A.Romeo and asked him to confirm the problem's resolution in this thread? i have and will do so again this afternoon. maybe it got lost in his messages with his sales. he answered me this morning saying he won't help me get out of the PL because he doesn't want "someone like me" around here, whatever that means. I have already resolved my issue with Columbia Comics, who was the person that actually recommended me for the PL. where do I go from here? thank you. Please clarify: did A.Romeo not actually post here in the PL thread nominating you also? My understanding is that the only person(s) who can put someone on the PL and keep them there pending a resolution are people who submitted a timeline and the rest of the "due process". If A.Romeo never actually did that you are only answerable to CC who specified a transaction. If A.Romeo did nominate you here according to the rules and you have indeed resolved it than you cannot be kept on the PL. Did A.Romeo acknowledge that you had resolved the transaction, or not?

(thumbs u These two FFs are now among the best books in my collection, the 31 is especially outstanding considering how tough this issue is in grade. Very happy. Many thanks Chris, I look forward to doing this again. Cheers, Robert
  10. You get some credit with me for at least being here, that is a start, but you are missing the main point, which is that you need to come clean about what exactly happened. Answer questions put to you, and if you know for yourself that you did something in bad faith acknowledge it as such, without that, there is no reason for people to have confidence you will not do it again.
  11. I have no knowledge of what has passed recently between you both, so I make no comment on that. I can say that while making things right with the other person in a transaction will keep you off the PL, it will not stop others from reaching their own conclusions about the whole business, and each person will make their own decision about that as far as their own business is concerned. This is not meant to be mean, it is simply the reality of these things, sometimes not everything is fixable, as if nothing had ever happened.
  12. I'm with you in spirit, but the PL is accuser-driven, unless you can find a loophole I don't see any room for 3rd party interventions.
  13. Honestly, this thread could use some romance.
  14. Like the HoS it would boil down to a vote, but unlike the HoS it would not inflict permanent disabilities. The idea of "censure" came to mind because it is a kind of "official rebuke" of a collective upon a member, for certain specified wrongs, it becomes a matter of record but unlike the HoS or PL there are no rights removed. Whether this is any different than what is already happening now in this thread is another question.
  15. I disagree. Besides, the things you have mentioned aren't what this is about. Here's an example. longdillon dragged me on for 3 months, leading me to believe there would be no probem paying for 5 books. After the 3 months, he didn't pay. He did place a $70 deposit, which I discounted to the second buyer. Because of the 5% deposit, he didn't qualify for probation. Then, he sells a book to a boardie. Decides to sell it to someone else for more. Then, refunds the first buyer, who is out $60 due to fees, exchange ect... After all of this, (maybe more?) he doesn't make the probation list. Is there 10,000 posts in this thread? (I didn't check) Maybe you could do a recap of this thread for us. Are you thinking of the need for something like "censure"?
  16. I might have a guess. Seller sells book needs cash now (bills/taxes/whatever). Pays bills/taxes/whatever right away while mails the book to Australia. Weeks later book comes back while buyer emails him wondering wth my book dude? Seller panics because he can't refund since the money is spent and is afraid to try to mail it again overseas. Sells book to guy from USA because this time book won't get lost. Was planing to refund first buyer once he got the deal done with new buyer but everything blows up here before he can tie up lose ends. Plausible enough, but the second buyer paid (I think) April 11? If there was a good faith intention to refund the first buyer its taken awhile, no? But of course if there was a good faith intention anywhere in this transaction the first buyer would have been informed the moment the book was returned undelivered, yes?
  17. Fair enough, and nothing wrong with being argumentative. My issue is that for problems short of PL worthy there is a greater level of subjectivity about it that becomes very imprecise and largely unverifiable. Slow shipping vs fast shipping, secure packaging vs inadequate packaging are all relative and also relative vis a vis buyer satisfaction. If the packaging is chronically and objectively inadequate its going to produce sooner or later returns and demands for refunds, which if they are not satisfied will end up on the PL, and if satisfied should rationally encourage the seller to improve the packaging for the sake of the profit margin if nothing else. If the shipping is objectively by community standards chronically slow sooner or later the seller will ship something so late it will cross the PL line (and it only takes once) but otherwise there will be the same diminishing returns in the customer base, supposing that many people really care about the slow shipping. I guess I'm comfortable for things short of PL worthy for the market to grind it out, because that assumes that any shortcomings are chronic, and not accidents or occasional lapses.
  18. Generally, agreed. My concern is that negative feedback also needs context, but being negative it creates much more damage and is subject to much more abuse. There are many possible reasons a person may be unhappy with a transaction, but not all of them will be generally or universally valid. So I'm saying that for the negative feedback to be both useful and fair it must be about only such things as, if true, would be viewed as negative by all or at least by most- so a stricter criteria and it should have to be justified. I see the PL process as providing that context.
  19. It is too much to say the Kudos thread and all its contents are worthless, imperfect and incomplete yes, worthless no. The advantage to limiting negative feedback to the PL forum is that it ensures that the problem is something serious and substantive about a specific transaction and not just gossip and person_without_enough_empathying or the use of the threat of negative feedback to leverage deals. At least here in the PL it is a discussion and there is peer pressure to substantiate claims, to provide timelines, if necessary to provide visual evidence of some kind and above all to demonstrate that one is being reasonable.
  20. But are rarely if ever worth thinking about. What I don't understand about this is why not simply offer a full refund upon the return of the book. If there was a switch is the buyer going to send back the bogus book? Probably not, since the seller would then have material proof of bad faith. I guess I would need someone to explain to me the situations in which a "switch" becomes a plausible scam.
  21. I had the same feeling when I read this. It is a very serious thing to suggest and is unlikely to make a good resolution to this any easier.
  22. It is troubling that your messages go unanswered. I would send a new PM with the subject heading reading "Discussing you in the Probation Thread" and in the PM itself restate your unhappiness with the product and what you would like done about it. Respectfully, however, without more specific information about the book and the sale, it is doubtful a dispute about grade will get as far as the HoS, and much more info would be necessary to figure out if it was PL worthy.
  23. Purchased a Y The Last Man 1 from Robert. Great book and really happy with the deal, fast shipping and great customer service. Many thanks for this Robert, I look forward to next time. (thumbs u Cheers, (the other) Robert
