Hello, friends! I've made a couple new videos I thought you might enjoy.

First, here's a look at the revolutionary storyline science fiction grandmaster Samuel R. Delany had planned for Wonder Woman, and how it got abruptly cancelled by DC after just one issue thanks to some very unexpected and highly ironic political interference:

And here's a look at some of the back issues I've been buying as retail therapy during the quarantine. This is part one of what looks like could be an infinite part series, as I've got a ton of other books still en route from ebay and the boards here:

A couple weeks ago now, I was inspired by a thread in the Comics General section to do a video for YouTube showing off the Top 50 comics in my collection. To my surprise, I discovered I really enjoyed making the video — and some people actually watched it!
So I've decided to make some more YouTube videos about comics and comic collecting. I'm hoping to just post like one video a week, and every so often I'll share those videos here.
Here's the link to my channel:

    and here are some videos!

Here's the latest YouTube videos from yours truly. I'm getting close to 200 subs, so I'm doing a giveaway!

I also picked up some new stuff, including this awesome romance comic I never heard of before:

And speaking of romance comics, here's a look at one of my favorite ongoing soap opera storylines ever:

I've been churning out the YouTube videos, so there's a bunch to see on my channel, but I thought I'd just highlight these two.

In this video, I spend 5x as much as I ever have for a comic and acquire one of my personal grails:

And in this one, I start a new series called Origin Stories: The Comics That Shaped Us where I interview comic book fans about their origin story as a collector, though the lens of the 10 individual comics that had the biggest impact on their life. In this first episode, I interview the person who sold me that grail book! Which is Shaxper, the founder of the Classic Comics Forum.

    Quest
    Hey there, comic friends!
I'm super excited to tell you that my new epic fantasy comic Quest is coming to Kickstarter next month, and the pre-launch page is currently live.

This is an ongoing series inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and by classic swords and sorcery comics like Savage Sword of Conan. I've always been a huge fantasy fan, and it was fantasy that really got me into comics -- before I bought my first comic book, I was reading comics in the back of Dragon Magazine, so it's no wonder that Warlord and Conan the Barbarian were among the first comic books I bought.
Quest is going to be full of dungeon crawls and weird monsters, and the world is populated with characters right out of D&D, so if you are into that sort of thing, I hope you'll consider giving Quest a try!
I already have the inked artwork done for issue #2 and am actively working on #3 at the moment, so I'm really committed to this series!
I also have a bunch of variant covers to share with you, including two I did myself. And the D&D module variant will also include 8 bonus pages of gaming supplements so you can bring the world of Quest to your own home game!

I'll have more soon, including a free pdf you can download with the first 5 pages as a preview. For now, here's the Kickstarter pre-launch link again.
I love making comics, so I'm very excited for this, and I appreciate your support! Thank you!

The Kickstarter campaign for the first issue of The Crimebusters is complete, and was a rousing success. Thanks so much to everyone who supported it! I'm really looking forward to sending out the comic and hearing what you all think. And I'm hard at work already on issue #2, so I'll certainly be sharing plenty more as we go.
    Thanks!

In the latest entry of my production blog, I give a prgoress report and share some line work in progress for page 4, along with a discussion of some of my storytelling influences. Enjoy!

Here's a look at page 4, in process, which you may notices has a Steranko influenced layout with the sequence of small panels (which will be dialogue free when I get to that point).

This year has been a series of kicks to the junk, but luckily, it's nearly over!
And I do have a couple cool announcements. Tomorrow, I'll be appearing on a Disney YouTube livestream to discuss my comic and how the latest issue was influenced by Disney theme parks! And this weekend, I'll be appearing at the NorthEast Comic Con in Boxboro, MA, so if you're at the show, stop by and say hi!
I made a little video about these announcements:

    Aaaaah!
I'm super excited to announce that my comic The Crimebusters is now live on Kickstarter!
    Finally!
Thanks to everyone for all the support throughout this process. As you guys know, bringing Chuck Chandler back to life has been a goal of mine for over a decade now, so this is really exciting for me, and I can't wait to share this comic with you. If anybody has any questions aout the project, or about the Kickstarter campaign, let me know!

I'm excited to announce that you can now read a sneak preview of the first six pages on my website here!
I've also created a Facebook page if anyone is interested.
I'm going to be creating a mailing list too, but I haven't quite got that figured out yet. But if anyone wants to be put on it, the website has a "Contact Us" button you can hit to send me a message. I'll be streamlining this at some point.
Right now I am expecting to have the whole 30 page story completed in about 3 weeks. I have 9 pages done, and 21 left to add inking and shading to. I'm tentatively aiming for the first week of June to launch the Kickstarter, but we'll see — I'll definitely be announcing more about that as soon as it's solidified.
I'm going to have two variant covers, but this is what the regular cover will look like (more or less - I may do some minor tweaks as we go):

I made a video where I show the results of all 5 variants of my comic, The Crimebusters #1, that I sent into CGC. Results were mixed! But it was a good learning experience, particularly just trying to figure out how the submission process works when you are sending in your own signed books. The answer is: it's confusing!

Well, the year is coming to a close, but I'm going to squeeze in one more Kickstarter campaign before 2023 ends.
This is for Quest #2! Quest is my new ongoing epic fantasy comic featuring a ragtag group of adventurers who are thrown together by fate and charged with an impossible quest with the fate of their world at stake.
    You know... the good stuff!
The Kickstarter launches on October 23. I'm still working on the final cover, but here's a look at some of the covers you'll be able to choose from this time around:

Here's the link again! Thanks for all the support, everyone!

We're inside the final 29 hours on the campaign for my new fantasy comic Quest #2, and it's coming right down to the wire.
I thought we had funded a couple hours ago, but no sooner did we cross the goal than someone canceled a pledge and we dropped back below the line.
That means at the moment we're still $15 short of being funded. There's still plenty of time -- but also plenty of time for more people to cancel, so who knows!
If you love epic fantasy and classic swords & sorcery, Bronze Age style action, check out Quest here!
    Thanks for all the support!

    comic books
I'm really excited to share that I'm doing my first crossover with another comic!
The short versions is that I've had artist Ryan Mendoza do variant covers for both issues of my series Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, which is currently live on Kickstarter.
Ryan is the regular artist on a series called Miskatonic High. For those who aren't familiar with Miskatonic High, it's one of the most successful series on Kickstarter. They actually have a pretty regular distribution schedule, not monthly, but they get a lot of stuff out - their new campaign is issue #16, all of which have been done through Kickstarter. I think in the last 4+ years, so they're doing 4 issues a year or so, plus specials and stuff as well.

Miskatonic High actually has a lot of similarities to my comic The Crimebusters, in that it follows a group of students (high school rather than college) who are constantly getting caught up in supernatural adventures. Just in the modern day instead of the 1950s. So I've been watching them closely since I began, as they're where I want to be.

So when we realized that their issue #16 would be live at the same time as Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2, we thought it would be cool to do a cross-promotion: anyone who backs both campaigns will get a special bonus print featuring the characters from both titles together.

I suggested to Ryan that we do it as an homage to the classic cover of Justice League of America #21. Here's the print:

If enough people dig it there's an outside chance we might think about doing a comic to tell the story in the print. That would be super cool, to do an actually story crossover!
But for now, I'm just really excited to do this print crossover. It's really fun, and cool that other creators - who, let's face it, are more successful as well - want to work with me. 🙂

    Hello, comic book friends!
I'm so excited today to announce that my new comic book Quest #1 is now LIVE on Kickstarter!   I've been a huge fantasy fan for my whole life. Playing Dungeons & Dragons and reading their Endless Quest series of books as a child opened my imagination to new worlds of wonder. I would sit on the floor with my modules and play out whole campaigns by myself, creating stories of heroes and monsters, triumph and tragedy, before rolling the dice and starting it all over anew.   Quest is the culmination of a lifetime of dreaming. I first began creating the characters, world, and story of Quest way back in the mid 90s, and over the years, I've returned to them again and again, working to one day tell their tale.   And that day is today!   In Quest #1, you'll meet a ragtag band of adventurers, thrown together by fate and charged with an impossible quest to save their world -- a quest they know almost nothing about. It's filled with action from page one, and as the story progresses, so too will our heroes, growing in strength and tempered by loss as they try to learn the secrets that drive their mission before time runs out!   So gather your courage to the sticking point and join me for the start of an epic Quest! Because by supporting my comics and making my dreams a reality, YOU truly are the hero of this story! Thank you so much!! 🤗   https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thecrimebusters/quest-epic-fantasy-adventure?ref=bjwa9u

    Hello, friends!
I'm excited to announce that my new epic fantasy comic Quest #1-2 is now live on Kickstarter! This is my ode to Bronze Age style swords and sorcery, and comics like Warlord and Conan, so if you like that sort of thing I think you'll like Quest!
You can check it out here.
I've also finished the other variant covers, and wanted specifically to mention the Tabletop RPG Edition. The cover is an homage to the classic D&D module "Keep on the Borderlands" by Jim Roslof, and the interior also includes 8 bonus pages of game supplement material so you can play through the adventure from the comic in your own home game. My DM and I have had a lot of fun putting it together, and I'm excited for people to read the comic and then play the adventure!
    Thanks everyone for the support!
