  1. Yeah, I think cover dates is the only way to go. Just curious, if there is a title that was being published at that time - let's say Brave and the Bold - that wasn't monthly, and there was only Nov 77 and Jan 78 issues, do you skip that title, or decide that Nov 77 is the proper one?

I skip the ones that don't have December cover dates. Seemed like that would be simpler.

  2. I had a buddy get frustrated with collecting runs... he loved FF but knew he could never afford the early issues... so he came up with an idea to pick a date and collect every issue that came out with a specific month from a specific year.

He chose to pick the month he started collecting which was books cover dated September 1982.

Last time I talked to him, he was still trying to find some of the Charltons that came out at that time.

Collector's mentality I suppose... but it does seem like a fun idea to try to attempt ;)

I realized that I'd never compete a run of some of my favorite DC titles that go back into the Golden Age, so I've set the goal of a complete run of a title published during my lifetime (April 1962). I recently got the last Action I needed - thanks, Chip! - so now I have complete 4/62-present runs of Action, Flash, Jimmy Olsen, Superboy, Superman, and World's Finest.

I like this idea - I've been slowly trying to pick up a copy of everything published during the month I was born, but this gives me something to shoot for if I ever finish my birth month set.

Not a bad set to look for. What month would that be? And you are going by cover dates?

Dec of 77. Decided to go by cover dates, even though I know those weren't necessarily the ones on the stands that month.

  4. anyone that didnt get a chance to get the Han figure variant... MCS has them for 7 bucks... beats paying 25 on the bay... also have Leia for 5... cheers =)

In case I'm the only one who is slow on the uptake, the Vader and Leia variants are for their respective series. I checked and doubled check the MCS listings for the main Star Wars series and only found the Luke and Han covers. Then the light slowly dawned.

  5. I don't know how it is anywhere else but I am selling a ton of the N52 Batman #1 WB Studio Tour variants on my site. I've sold over 20 in the past 2 weeks at 50 a pop. They are all over the place on eBay...in the 25-75 range.

Anyone have an idea what the print run on that book was?

It was selling for $100 when it came out. In fact, just to get one I think you had to pay a $75 entrance fee or something ridiculous.

I don't recall the print run but it's very low compared to what they do monthly. Like a quarter or less. It has floated around on the web.

    Thanks!

  6. I read the first issue, and decided to wait until I had a few more to plow through all at once. I liked the first enough to get Kindt's "Super Spy" out of the library, FWIW.
