  1. Finished last night. Now I have #103 - current coming in singles next week. MY REVIEW OF THE SERIES (in a nutshell): No spoilers (promise ) If you start out reading Invincible and get through the first 20 issues or so, you might walk away and think, "Nah, this isn't for me... just not enough going on and it's a little premature for my taste." I was kinda thinking the same thing. I start the series several months back and made it half way through the compendium one and realized that it hadn't really captivated me like other series had in the past. Over the Christmas break I had a chance to pick up compendium one again (mid-book) and was determined to finish it. Before I knew it I had finished the first book, but toward the end I thought, "I need to order the compendium two so I won't be left hanging." Kirkman does a good job of layering multiple plot points. He'll start a story point (either as a major sub-plot or humorous interruption sub-plot - thinking the Squidds people and his broken English) and weave the plot along the main arc and this happens well over the course of the series to date. By the end of the first compendium I was totally enamored with Invincible. But, that was just the beginning... The second compendium (as other Invincifans have foretold) was the real payoff. The confused teenage persona of Mark Grayson is faced with many tough decisions and things get serious quickly. Conquests was a terrific villain, along with Thragg, Angstrom Levy, PowerPlex, the Squidd, etc. The Viltrumite War against the Coalition of Planets was a winner and the Dinosaurus storyline was also good. I should also mention the Ryan Ottley does a fantastic job with the art in the book. All in all, for $90 you can buy 90% of the series and have a great time reading the first two compendiums. No regrets here and I know I'm headed back to #1 in the future to start the journey again.
  2. Read #16 and #17 over Christmas... Ahhh, Saga Can't wait to one day own the hardcovers for this series.
  3. I could have bought a WD #1 in NM condition raw yesterday for $150..... But it was white label so I passed....
  4. Read #117 and #118 today (I was a bit behind) So far... The war is..... But, if you read about my reading the Invincible compendiums recently I'm use to seeing people ripped in half and heads torn off
  5. I agree the 2nd compendium is better than the first. The pay off is worth the time investment on the first though
  6. It's 1:10 AM I just finished Invincible Compedium two. I will write a longer review later, but I will say that after reading about 70 issues in the past 2-3 weeks that it is an outstanding series and I'm glad I got to read it back-to-back because there is a lot of subtle things that I think I would have missed if I waited 30 days between issues. This last arc with the Flaxans (sp?) was fantastic. I have the next trade coming either tomorrow or Tuesday (planned ahead ) and went ahead and ordered the rest of the raws through current. Soon, I will be waiting monthly like everyone else More later.... R
  7. I literally jaw dropped. That is SICK!! Hang it in babies room
  8. I got this in this week as well.... I picked this up as a raw copy about six months ago and just got it back from CGC Not a 9.8 but I dig it
  9. Read IR and through issue #78 (a few pages of 79). I hope We haven't seen the last of Thragg and I hope we someday see like an alternate universe Conquest (because that would be Conquestactic!! )
  10. Read up to #70 last night. Stopped at the Invincible Returns issue. Digging Conquest. I know there will be more of him, but wish that part was longer. He is a much better villain than Angstrom Levy (at this point). R
  11. I've only hit "Notify" twice in my time here. (1) Was an offensive F-Bomb meme (2) During the Ron Theda/shill debacle
  12. The wait between issue would be painful if you started this series in the beginning. Like waiting for Saga each month or our other forum favs.
