  1. Before there was talk of movies or even more current animated ventures the silver age Green Lantern was a solid character. I've always gravitated towards that Hal Jordan version of GL even more so than the interest I've held in either Superman or Batman.

I always looked forward to the development of the character on either the big or small screen and definitely don't feel that the movie was a "fail". I think that people hyped the GL movie so much that when it didn't become a mega-blockbuster they put it on the back burner. In truth, whatever they spent on making that flick was obviously recouped in either initial movie ticket sales, or rentals or sales of the DVD/BLU-RAY. That's even with all the pirating!

What didn't happen is the movie didn't make 1 BILLION dollars. Somehow that translates into flop in today's market, but the interest in GL is still there from the die hard comics fans as well as the public at large. All the negative speak has come down the pike primarily from folks that didn't have their pockets lined as much as they anticipated, the rest from irate comic-folk that tend to get their panties in a wad if things aren't precisely as they see fit.

The reality is that GL has been a core character in the DC universe and if that universe is going to see future developments of any kind: GL will have a part.

If that means that the price of Showcase 22 goes up, so be it. I can say at the very least that I have a piece of history that is becoming increasingly more difficult to find as time goes on in higher grade. To boot, GL may be my favorite comic character of all time. If I add both those things together, that makes one happy Accessndx.

  2. Finishing up Stephen King's Salem's Lot.

Looking for another King book to read next.

If you haven't all ready read them. Check out the King

and Straub collaboration - The Talisman or start on the

The Dark Tower / Gunslingers series. All great reads!!!

I agree except for one book, "Wizard and Glass"... overly long and incredibly boring. Waste Land was excellent and Wolves of the Calla that followed but I really struggled to finish book 4. Really struggled.

After Salem's Lot I read The Shinning. I liked it. Salem's Lot was far better though.

I started Misery today. I will do the Stand next followed by the Dark Tower series.

  3. Hey didn't know if anyone has been paying attention, but that Daryl Dixon figure from series 1 has seriously gone way up in price. I got one in July for about $40 and thought that was high......Check this out

wow. people sure do love wasting money. those aren't even decent looking.

Yeah but he's the only Daryl figure ever...and he's not even in the comics. (obviously).... lol

i've been meaning to ask you about your sig. i notice you have low grade copies of two ASM books that aren't hard to find or expensive in high grade (at least i don't think so). why a 5.5 and a 4.5?

p.s. not knocking them, just curious.

Well I got them for free from my best friend and I had them graded. Promised him I'd never sell them. I know it doesn't look that good next to the other NM books....lol

Sometimes sentimental value far outweighs monetary value.

Years ago, when I was around 12 years old, and Curse of the Spawn #1 Black and White variant was at the shop, I reallllly wanted it but couldn't afford it. I believe it was $30 back then. My father bought it for me as a gift as I cherish it as much as many of the keys I own even though I know it's not worth much today. It's just the thought of that day at the comic shop, I'll never forget it.

  4. Found a box with this on my doorstep 10 minutes ago. It's like Christmas. Fast turn around time on this. It only took 17 business days.

I was thinking 8.0 to 8.5 myself so I am somewhat disappointed. Comic does have a name stamp on the back, a light date stamp on the front, and some initials written in the upper left "Marvel Box" so I guess that's where it got dinged on the grade. Sweet looking comic.... dang that 8.0 would have been nice.

The good news is I only paid $50 for it raw so this one's a steal for me.

Yeah, that looks more like an 8.0 to me, but like you said, it's a steal either way. Beauty!
