  1. Look at it this way, one year closer to that sweet sweet senior discount at the movies.
  2. I had a packaged recently (last week) shipped to me that never showed it going from a 3rd party shipper to the post office but showed up at my house anyway.
  3. I have to thank everyone for participating in the poll. Really great response. I will give it a little longer then snapshot the results and repeat again next year
  4. I think post retirement spending may slow, I know it will for me
  5. Approximately 2/3 of those responding to the poll are 50yrs or old. That means they have 17yrs or less to retirement and ~26yrs to death
  6. Yes but since you collect comics its okay if you wear your pant pulled up about 1ft above your bellybutton
  7. All I know is the only thing that keeps me going are prune smoothies with bourbon.
  8. If you have a few minutes please fill it out, takes 2 seconds Poll on your age
  9. Sometimes late at night I like to ponder the mysteries of the universe like will string theory ever be put to the experimental test. Other times I wonder how cool owning two Great Garloos toys would be. I finally decided to put the theory to the experimental test. Conclusion: very cool.
  10. It has been a while since the last poll was around so let take a new snapshot
  11. I remember a poll done on the boards a while back to look at the age of collectors and the peak was definitely on the older side. I would say it suggested the slowdown in prices was out a ways (20yrs?) but that poll was years ago. May be interesting to refresh. I still spend a lot on stuff but I am prepping to clear out about 10,000 comics and about 100 boxes of toys, cards, etc. after I retire in 2 years (actually 594 days not that I am counting). Trying to figure out the best venue to sell through. Considered an EBay store but selling through EBay seems like the you risk a lot of scammers.
  12. Probably my favorite item in my Famous Monsters collection
  13. Just snagged this little beauty. My son and wife picked her up at the airport today
  14. I purchased the artwork on the right side off eBay in maybe 2007
  15. I am going to post this because I know it won't end up in my collection but this piece really hits me. The time was 1972 my 9yr old brother and an 8yr old me went to see this movie in Petersburg, IN. The local theater was one block from my grandma's house. We walk to see it. The guy selling tickets gave us a real hard time about seeing it but let us in. I was traumatized by the movie. The Santa Claus story was the most disturbing. I had nightmares for several days afterwards. Good times, good times.
  16. When I started doing the monster kits you didn't see the long boxes very often. I built the 1970s square box kits. First kit I got was the Forgotten Prisoner. My oldest brother helped me build it. Back then if I had 2 different colors of tester paint I was doing good and my painting only lasted one day because I didn't have turpentine to clean the brush.
