  1. It sounds to me that as long as you were satisfied with the in hand quality of the books you two had an agreement that you were going to purchase them for an agreed upon price. The above bolded part would suggest that he changed his mind regarding the agreed upon pricing and decided to back out on the deal. I haven't been here longer than you (though neither have the other two people to reply prior to me) but I believe this warrants the PL. The one issue I could see is the complication of them getting off the list. You obviously want to inspect the books prior to spending that kind of money so perhaps he'd have to send them to you and you could return any you weren't satisfied with? I'm not sure how that part would work.
  2. Moderns arrived today The Hulk 271 came back as 9.8
  3. Moderns submitted 8/30 shipped yesterday (1/10) Value Tiers submitted 8/30 are waiting to be slabbed. I was told they'd probably ship out around the end of the month.
  4. Thats pretty nuts. I'm glad I got my copy when I did before this madness hit. Now...to flip or not to flip
  5. What tier were these? Makes me wonder if I should call about my early September books!
  6. I've had several instances where in my haste to secure a single copy of a book I've ended up with multiples. I've never once requested a seller cancel a transaction and I simply intend to keep the best looking ones and sell the spare(s). I'll be taking a loss on most of them too probably but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
  7. Still a month away from getting to my 8/30 subs...
  8. I guess it would be pretty foolish to call them about books they got on 8/30 then huh?
  9. I purchased a book from one of Neil's threads and it arrived quickly and well packaged, and in a box! He sent me several PM updates with shipping and other info and was very easy to deal with. Thanks!
  10. I actually just completed a purchase from sleeper13. Based on his feedback here and on Ebay I don't expect to run into any issues but that does seem to be sort of questionable behavior. Did you send him a message about you posting that here Darrell?
  11. I feel like a nut My books have only been there since 8/30 and I'm beyond tempted to call and see where they are at in the process. Looks like if I'm lucky I'll have them in early 2013...
  12. My interpretation of your scenario is that your intial offer is you offering your hand for a handshake. His acceptance is taking your hand and shaking it to complete the transaction. I don't see this mysterious independant third step you're trying to make up but that's simply my viewpoint. I hope this gets cleared up either way - though it has provided for an interesting morning read
  13. It would appear I'm the first buyer to comment here, and I was quite pleased with the entire process. Eddy was very prompt with the invoice and the shipping, and the book came exactly as described and well packaged. Consider me one happy buyer!
  14. Looking at some of the spine wear displayed on your slabbed books makes me wonder what was going on when they were graded. It might just be the slab, but that 9.8 almost looks like it might be split in the bottom corner. Your raw one looks a little rougher than either sadly That black cover really highlights any wear. This is one heck of an experiment and I know I'm enjoying the way you're documenting the process!
  15. Well I'm wondering what you have to do to rate dirty limericks but other than the lack of those I was quite pleased with my order. I found the entire process to be seamless and the packaging was spectacular. Thanks!
  16. Just to add Re: Gecko157 he started a thread asking about other venues to buy/sell on. Probably because he keeps getting kicked out of legit areas once people realize what he is doing. Ebay user lanternsector2814 (Gecko's ID there) has been set to Not a Registered User.
  17. I found this site when I was looking for a good place to find some more uncommon comics. I haven't even made an attempt at selling anything yet but I'm doing my best to follow along and hope to do it correctly the first time. Everything comes with a learning curve but I don't see the guidelines here as overly difficult to understand or work within. I joined because it seemed like a cool group of people, and an excellent environment to learn in while I figure out what the heck I'm doing
  18. Insanely quick shipping and just generally easy to deal with! Columbia Comics was a treat to deal with and I'll certainly be keeping them in mind in the future.
  19. Sorry, no show to be had here. It went out today with work's FedEx pickup
  20. I know its probably ridiculous to keep posting here but it occured to me that I've got my refund so why shouldn't I just hold onto the package for about a month before I get around to shipping it back to them? Of course I won't do this. The box already has a label on it to go back to them...
  21. So apparently after telling them through PayPal that if I didn't hear from them by 6/29 I'd be escalating the case they refunded my money and provided me an address to return the package to. I'm out the return shipping but at least this fiasco is over with. Now I just have to hope they never have any cool variants I find myself wanting because they'll probably refuse to deal with me for being a customer who refused to accept their complete and total lack of contact. And the message they sent me with the refund was - Please return package (unopened) to: (Their Address) That was it, no explanation, no apology, no nothing. How does this sort of customer service allow them to remain in business?
  22. I placed an order with these guys before doing my research and I wish I hadn't I put my order in on 6/1 On 6/15 after a total of zero contact from them and an order that had been stuck on "Processing" for most of that time I sent them a message requesting that they cancel my order and refund my money. On 6/16 after no reply I sent a similar message to one of the personal email addresses listed on their website, again requesting they cancel my order and just give me a refund. On 6/19 I copied the previous message to the other personal email address listed on their website. On 6/24 I opened a PayPal dispute and they haven't replied to that. Today (6/26) I received a package from them posted 6/22 which is clearly after my multiple attempts to contact them regarding cancelling my order. Now I'm out the postage to return the comics that I no longer wanted because of the delay by these yahoos. They appear to have some cool stuff, but this experience has really soured me towards them.
  23. I'm sorry I should have been more specific. I'm aware of the significance of that particular issue but I was curious as to why you think it will be worth digging up in the near future. I'm probably missing something obvious but I haven't looked at comics seriously in a long time and I seem to recall having a signed copy of this book stashed away somewhere so I figured I'd ask. Sorry for the noob-ish questioning.
  24. What is the reasoning behind this if you don't mind sharing?
