  1. Hello all,

Regrettably it seems I am forced to nominate another member for the list.

You do realize you have posted a photo containing your home address, right?

    Fudge :frustrated:

If it means anything at all, I did receive my books from that thread quite a while ago. Might be he truly is having some problems. Regardless, hope he is fine.

  2. Gotcha. Well here's a five part series I wrote for The Cimmerian blog a few years ago on collecting REH pulps. It needs updating but it's still pretty accurate.

Very very helpful! Thanks a ton for that (worship)

You're very welcome. You should check out the pulp thread in Gold to see some really cool stuff and really very affordable compared to a lot of SA and GA.

Will do! Wish there was a pulp selling section here on the board because I've never seen them for sale in the normal gold silver bronze market place lol

  3. Happy 80th Birthday Conan!

I was looking around on ebay for some of these pulps but the prices are very erratic.

How much should someone pay for one of these?

Well it depends. Do you mean this particular issue, which is a key (1st Conan)? Do you mean Weird Tales issues in general or just issues with Conan and Robert E. Howard content?

Pulp prices are actually very stable. Any variance in price you see is likely due to the same basic reasons some comics are worth more than others. Grade, scarcity, content, classic covers, etc.

While I couldn't find any of that exact one, 1st conan, I saw some with sw Robert e Howard stuff, and some where hundreds of bucks for a beat up pulp, and some were not so much. I have never bought a pulp so I am out of the loop lol

  4. There's been several new people that start selling as soon as they get here. Many don't even take the time to read the selling rules. I think there should be a waiting period before noobs can start selling here.

I was always opposed to this idea Mike, but more and more it makes sense to me. Will it stop someone who's willing to make a bunch of posts or wait the required time? Perhaps not ,but it would allow us to get a cut of their jib and it would give them an opportunity to learn about this place and perhaps learn the rules and culture.

    Spot on.

    + 3.

    +4

On another forum I am a member of there is at least a week waiting period + a t least a 20 post count before you can post your own thread in the marketplace. Doesn't seem to really be too many bad experiences there, but it is a much smaller community.

  5. After joining many various #1 Clubs here, I felt one or two were missing. Thus, I have decided to create the Tick #1 Club.

Not widely-loved by many, and hated by more (especially if you watched the Fox live-action show from 2001), none-the-less is beloved by a few.

I thought the show was awesome! I love Patrick Warburton... Nice books everyone!

The show was decent enough, but after loving the comic for so long, it just didn't feel right. Patrick Warburton was born to play that role however....

I can see where you are coming from. Patrick Warburton is the man though, and the show was worth watching (all what 6 episodes of it? lol) just for him.

  6. Im putting this out there in front of all boardies. I am willing to do a partial refund of $10.00 to this gentlemen because I know he stats $15.00 but the site I found online for pressing says $10.00 for comics after 1980 which this qualifies for. But this payment will not be able to be sent until Wed, 10/17/2012 to the buyer.

But for those who want to say something about return policies, etc. It is always listed on my invoices as follows for all buyers and when invoice is paid I assume they took time to read the invoice, which includes this information before paying which evidently from the buyers on words, stating that he was not aware of this until the paypal dispute shows he did not read his invoice.

    "Terms and conditions

Item is "AS IS" buyer has seen condition of books and agrees with conditioning prior to purchase. Item will be insured to be sure it arrives to customer in condition it left and to protect from any damage that could happen while in transit through USPS."

And for those who made comments about it being insured if it is over a $50.00 book. The item was insured but you can't do anything with postal insurance until you have images to provide to them which this buyer never did provide until this thread today.

I'm glad you're making some attempt to work with the buyer. I give you a great deal of credit for that.

I must say, without any attempt at hostility, that I can't agree with your overall position.

First, this is a small community and your reputation is everything. For every beaver watching this thread there are a dozen curled up in their dams taking notes.

Second, selling 'as is' is a non starter for me. If I sell something and the buyer is unhappy I will do whatever it takes to fix the problem. I've had two occasions where I've refunded $$ so far. The first was a book damaged when the box was crushed in transit - I gave him a full refund and told him to keep the book. The second a low grade AF15 came back restored - I refunded his money, his express grading fees and all of his shipping costs from me to him, to CGC, back to him and finally back to me. It sucked but it's how I would want to be treated.

Also, if you're gonna try to sell 'as is' you should provide a back cover scan. Give them all the information you can.

Lastly, it's crystal clear that the buyer isn't struggling with buyer's remorse. He wanted this book in high grade and he's not happy with the copy you sold him. It's possible that it was damaged in shipping but it's more likely you missed the spine tics or you're not as fussy a grader as him. And having a witness doesn't mean anything. You could have 10 people look at this book but unless they've made many high grade submissions to CGC their opinion doesn't mean much.

I am one of those beavers curled up in my dam. :hi:

dam nice of you to post

I see what you did there :signfunny:

  9. Something I'm VERY pumped about. I finally got a good scan of it. Picked this up from Dragon Con last week. It's on an 11x17 and it recreates the first Ninja Turtle Kevin Eastman ever drew. As Kevin called it, it's in the "Dark Knight" style. I can't express how excited I was to pick this up!

One day I'll get a super cool commission from Kevin or Peter... One day...

  10. Does anyone here not have a copy? I'm willing to give one away, I'm in the spirit of giving...

Hey man, are you still willing to give a book away? Haven't read it yet, and it seems interesting my LCS is also out :(

  11. I got back from Heroes earlier this week where I was lucky enough to get on David Petersen's commission list. Given the great covers he's done for IDW's 1-shots, I don't see how I could have resisted. Very happy with the result:

I love the bubbles with their respective weapons!

Also, to the man who has won the TWO turtlemanias, Congrats. Maybe you could share the wealth one day? lol
