  1. A few people told me I was mad buying a Chew #1 and 5 NM Saga #1 first print s - as you could get them for $5 easily.

I only see them making $30 + now.

I intend to hold on as i think issues 20 - 30 will dictate if this series becomes a 100+ issue juggernaut or a slow fader...

Of course we all hope the former.

The #1 first print run was 37,000 - I bet at least 10,000 of them are lost, binned or damaged due to reading (my god, people reading comics!! What next...lol) so by the time #30 comes out the pool of NM #1's will be even smaller.

And no,I'm not related to Nico, I just happen to agree with him regarding this comic!

  2. Just read it and was definitely let down. Honestly, it couldn't live up to the hype but I was expecting something more from a comic with 16 variants. I went to a little Walking Dead party an lcs threw around here from 10pm to midnight. That was fun, at least.

I am Walking Deaded out. Time to take a break. It hasn't really been enjoyable to me for years. I had seen glimpses of its greatness but it just isn't doing it for me anymore.

    Thats really sad.

Maybe the writers need to hear more of this.

However, at work, during surgery - I'm in the health game - when I said I was off to get my walking Dead #100 issues etc etc.

Only 3 people out of 12 in the theatre had:

    A) Heard of the Walking Dead

    and:

    B) Only 1 person knew it was based on a comic - and that was the bloody patient!!

Seriously - this is a Global Juggernault that has only reached the awareness of 2 - 2.5% of the worlds population. What was AMC's finaly figure for top rating?

    5 million?

There is a huge bunch of people with some undiscovered Zombie-love out there!

  3. Nazi Zombies should be hot - only a print run of 1816!

The last Zombie should do better soon as well - only 1336 in 1st print run.

Revival will go through the roof and be the next Saga, and I reckon Punk Rock Jesus will also be a hit.

Peter Panzerfaust continues to gain support - its quite clever and I have a suspicion that Alpha Girl would make a good film later down the line.

Robots v Zombies is greenlit to be a film (ignore the Dolph Vehicle out later in the year) and The Vault has been picked up by Jonny Depp.

All worth getting a couple of #1's in your box.

  4. Recently reconfigured my comic loft / room. Changed over from my plastic boxes to drawer boxes to save some space. Here are some pix for your review. The pictures are set up in order of walking up the stairs and then turning and going back down. BTW if there are two of the same perspective it is due to different cameras and I wanted to test the different quality.

Man I know thats from a post a long long time ago - nice to see Captain Britain's!

I'm English so wahey! The originals are still around for 10 -20 quid - some with mask still inside etc as are the Knights of Pendragon follow-ups (with Union Jack).

I preferred the original ones anyway, even if the "Bad Guys" were total Gash!

    Nice pics. (thumbs u

  5. Doesn't get to Australia for another 2 weeks!

I've pre-ordered 20 copies and the 2 variables which should come with it.

Also 10 copies of Punk Rock Jesus which arrives at the same time.

I think both, especially PRJ will be popular stories with relatively low print runs.

I can't see PRJ being any more than 10k.

    Time will tell I guess.

  6. I love the Walking Dead - it got me back into reading comics 9 years ago.

I have to disagree with the chap that said there is no profit to be made in moderns.

If you buy every issue of a series - say Preacher - you have been lucky enough to enjoy a great read and will be able to sell #3-60 for cover when you have finished.

#2 gets you a 2-3x profit and Preacher #1 is now a $75 - $100 comic and has been for a few years.

I guess its all relative but $3 into $100 sounds like a good deal to me.

I purely collect moderns - I pre-order #1's only and store them to the best of my ability.

    Sometimes I get lucky.

Thanks to a very generous dealer with too much stock I was able to buy Alpha Girl and Peter Panzerfaust #1's slabbed CGC 9.8's for $70 delivered from USA to Australia.

I think thats a great deal,I doubt if the dealer covered his expenses so kudos to him for his generous spirit.

If they aren't succesful (Alpha Girl is on print run 3 I think, PP on its second) then I have 10 copies raw bought at cover price that I can sell to cover my original costs.

Thats break even - I get to enjoy the comics and I'm not out of pocket.

When they are successful like :

    Walking Dead

    Thief of Thieves

    Chew

    Y - The Last Man

Then there is a tidy profit to be had for foresight at buying them at time of issue.

    Newer ones such as:

    Saga

    Manhattan Projects

Nonplayer are all happily tracking at 3rd - 4th prints with 1st print #1's at $30 - $40 per issue at least.

    Older (!!) ones like:

    Preacher

    100 Bullets

Watchmen etc are $50 - $100 and have been for 5 years.

So I guess if you buy moderns at cover you won't make a loss and could turn a modest profit overall - whilst still enjoying great stories.

    I have pre-ordered:

    Revival

    Punk Rock Jesus

    Think Tank

Fashion Beast for those very reasons, and I am stocking up on The Vault ($3 - $5 J.Depp has aquired film rights), The Red Star ($8 - $20 was $3-$8 6 weeks ago - movie has green light), Zombies v Robots (2 films in production - one a Dolph Lundgren vehicle ;-( but the other a major studio) and the Irredeemable Ant-Man (as after Black Panther, it's next to be made and the word is that Ant-Man is going to be 'a shield agent with extra armour and weapons) so that must include the O'Grady Antman so at $1 a NM copy atm you cant go wrong!

And you get to read the comics.

Sweet deals all round to me. (thumbs u

  7. The maturity of you two members on this board is incredible. It seems to me someones item (who you have enjoyed beating up) just sold as a B.I.N. Now these following words of wisdom are for your enjoyment...

    A famous person once quoted:

    now I quote:

"Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege."

    Another very famous author quoted:

    Now I quote:

"I am patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it."

Uh-huh. So...you are proud of your stupidity, and feel that you should be allowed to abuse the privilege. Is that it...? Well, then...as you were! Certainly don't let any of US stop you!

Now you "boys" can go Google these quotes and find their author's and probably about a hundred famous other quotes on the subject that you both appear to be experts at. But my suggestion is, don't humor yourselves. Because your famous comebacks are easily searchable on Google and we all know (wink, wink) that you really didn't come up with them yourselves.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about here. Does this make any sense to anyone other than Krey?

My suggestion is that you get a "job" and/or a "girlfriend" and leave the board members alone who are trying to sell legitimately on these boards

You can sell "legitimately" on these boards if you do it in the right place (i.e., not on the "Moderns Heating Up" thread). Do you know where the sales forum is...?

... and not by scaring others in to pretending their items aren't worth anything...

You were scared by others into pretending that your item isn't worth anything...? lol

Or is it only you who think that selling a Walking Dead #1 in the sales thread is the only one in existence? I am sure (wink, wink) that there are some of us who have a Walking Dead #1 9.9 and kind of chuckle at your boorish attempt at making an extra $100.

So...! You DO know where the sales thread is! GREAT...USE IT!

But wait, I'm impressed...you really have a Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.9? WOW...!!!

    Is it like this one?

    WD1lotA.jpg

:gossip: (I'll give you a hint: It's the one in the middle)...(wink, wink)

    WD1lotB.jpg

OK, you know how it works...I've shown you mine...

I am impressed beyond words at that photo.

May I ask,did you buy them on a hunch early on or pick them up more recently?

    Either way, they look awesome.

    Is there a jealosy emoticon..lol

  8. Sorry to butt in but did I read that correctly that Saga #1 only had a print run of 500 for the first print?

I skipped over most of it because I had no clue as to what you were arguing about.....

So was it 500 or did I just skip too much?

    Thanks.

PS: some of you chaps get quite jolly heated at times.
