  1. picked up a copy of #1 at my local shops recommendation the week it came out, glad they steered me towards it!

wish I had been paying more attention then though.

Me too - the girl at my shop knows what I like and practically forced me to buy it. Too bad she didn't force me to buy multiples lol

if it makes you feel any better...I found out they got 5 of the thought bubble variants signed also....that I missed out on for cover. they went to good customers there at least! woulda loved to pick one of those up! win some/lose some.

  2. back when the thirdeye variants were being sold from the shop still, did anyone have any condition issues with the variants they received? ordered i think 9 of them and 8 all had the same damage to the same spot (impacted top right corner) can see where the comic/board and all got hit.. nothing wrong with the packaging whatsoever but something hit them prior to shipping.

still debating on selling off some raw #1s and #2s

  3. back after a short break from the boards due to real life being...far too hectic... ended up clearing out a lot of books including most of my saga stash to raise some funds and slow down on buying/selling.... (prior to this spike in price..ouch!)

what a bummer! glad to see this book on the rise for everyone else though.

glad to see the book hasn't let down at all content-wise. still amazing.

glad I still have a couple random issues along with our personal run at least.

venturing around to try to put back together a 2nd and 3rd run this weekend.

  4. anyone interested in continuing to see rivera cry, it continues here. Otherwise, on with the Revival thread.

seriously you've been proved wrong multiple times by multiple people here Eisley... can you not get the idea that you were mistaken, learn something new and move on? you are misinformed in your stance, and are spouting nonsense that is 100% incorrect. I was more than nice about it the first time, have remained nice about it the second time. I will remain nice about it yet again because I have no reason to sour my name here. so I'll put money where my mouth is on top of it:

No actually i wasnt proven wrong, and you can repeat what I said to you back at me but that doesnt make it true. As for remaining nice, good grief, as if that's a threat. lol, say what ever you'd like little boy. You are just continuously repeating yourself without disproving anything.

I already linked you actual shipping stuff. You have made up claims about the guy losing money on it, that may or may not be true, but is irrelevant. Then you lied about how much you ship outside the US. lol Just post shipping links next time you do, or I can teach you how if you need help.

Not only that, you try to make claims about the USPS site which I LINKED to someone else pages before you started your rambling nonsense. Anyone can go there and plug in numbers, and I was the one who linked it to the thread. NOT you. I POSTED THE USPS SITE, lol, how much clearer can that be. I dont need you to read out what it says there, I'm the one who linked it.

As for your $5 paypal comment. ROFL, as if I care about $5. It costs me more than $5 dollars out of my day just to write this post to you.

I'll keep buying stuff from the US like I always do, and paying less than you said for Priority Shipping from time to time, especially if its a close state. You keep going on being wrong, and those that havent been sucked into your vacuum of crying fit posts will have learned that shipping to Canada is easy and not nearly as expensive as they thought. That USPS is the way to go, never FedEx or UPS, and hopefully more CGC books will be available from this forum as ignorance is lifted. That was the point before your derail, remains the point, and you just keep on crying ok fella.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmkay <3.

    EDIT:

PS -30 seconds of looking, Michigan shipper, $13.50 for his USPS Priority Mail CGC books.

    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Star-Wars-5-CGC-9-8-1977-Marvel-Comic-1-st-Print-/370332607181

;) you can look up more yourself, there are thousands of people, and let them all know they are putting in negative handling charges, so that Ebay shows it as the official service.

last post on the matter from me, people can sift through this garbage if they want and come to their own conclusions

once again providing your own links to prove you are wrong? this seller requires international bidders make a second payment for actual shipping costs (ebay only allows you to set shipping up to a certain $ amount for different types of items) as pulled directly from their page and laid out for you if you had actually bothered to read the "shipping and terms" section on their auction:

    to Canada:

$13 to ship a CGC book

$13.50: added fee to ship to Canada

Canada S/H: If you elect no insurance ( your risk) $13.50 fee to ship in heavy duty box. 1 CGC comic insured for up to $67 is $20.00. See above for other terms

which comes out to $26.50 which perfectly matches up to the $25 (cost to ship 2 lb package priority with tracking to canada) + $1.50 handling

also noone said a person can't charge you less than it costs to ship, the argument here is that it COSTS them $13 to ship like you are stating. its a pretty common practice for anyone who is shipping internationally to set their shipping price as the highest they can on ebay and then notate in their auctions that the actual shipping costs for international will be higher and stating their terms.

anything else you care to be proved wrong about? you do realize there is a reason that not a single person is coming to your defense and defending you as being right don't you? I'm here to help provide useful information and learn things myself, not spread misinformation.

as for "my FAILbiz" I enjoy the work I do, and am proud of what I spend my time and efforts on with the DIY punk/hardcore label I run. if anyone is into that sorta thing and wants a link to check it out (yourself included Eisley) feel free to drop me a PM or just hit up google for Headfirst! Records . as for the being respectful/nice comments earlier they weren't meant as a threat. I'm not here or anywhere on the internet to try to stir mess.

either way I'm done with the stupidity that is arguing with you about this back to regularly scheduled Revivalist!

  5. Nothing to see here but rivera repeating himself and me slapping him down...

your links prove the point that you were WRONG about what you said. jesus sorry to keep harping on about stupid shipping costs to Canada in this thread, but you are further misinforming people about the "urban myths about shipping to Canada"

No they dont, they prove I am right. You can claim whatever you want, doesnt change the facts that I posted. I am not mis-informing people, I am educating people, and making more CGC books available (at least the 9.9s), from people. So you can continue to post and get mad all you want. Doesnt change anything.

those are NOT flat rate charges I was quoting it was ANY 2 lb package and any 1 LB package directly from the zipcode you provided a link to a tracked package for to canada.

the only flat rate option from there to canada that cost $13 are the small flat rate boxes and small flat rate dvd boxes neither of which would come even close to fitting a comic book slabbed or raw.

if you wish to ship a package that is less than 3 lbs to Canada WITHOUT tracking you can do so via first class international - this will have no tracking and will provide you as a seller with zero protection on ebay/paypal. (IE: not what you linked above)

if you wish to ship it with delivery confirmation you have to go either priority mail or express mail, and the cost for any package weighing up to one pound will run you $23.25 (slightly cheaper if you print your postage online $22 and change) - the cost goes up basically each pound of weight. anything over 1 lb and under 2 lbs will cost around $25 2 to 3 lbs $28 etc etc

We can all read the pricing URL, i posted it before your n00b. You can make up the guy is losing money on shipping, or any other of your hypothetical ideas. I'll just stick to facts, mmmkay.

I covered priority vs first class as well. I posted on all these subjects, you are arguing in circles about things already addressed 3-4 pages ago. I can repeat myself too. RIVERA JSUT SO YOU KNOW, MOST RAW BOOKS ARE SENT FIRST CLASS NO TRACKING, CGC BOOKS ALMOST ALWAYS SENT PRIORITY. See, I can repeat myself too, and act like I am teaching you something I already told you about before you ever posted on i....

    - source of my information? personally setting up all the international settings on our webstore for the business I run by weight for different regions including canada (as well as updating and maintaining those lists every time rates change at USPS every couple of months) and shipping anywhere from 20-30+ international packages per month as well as 100+ packages per month within the US

20-30 a month, but none to post? I dont care what you or your FAILbiz are doing. I buy from the US multiple things a week, and I posted actual links and prices. So make up stuff in another thread, or post some links and pictures.

please for the love of letting this die, go to http://www.usps.com go to calculate postage and calculate the fees yourself if you don't believe me. calculate the exact package you provided tracking for that was shipped priority mail. you will see the cost to ship that item was no less than $22.09 MINIMUM (22.09 assumes it was postage paid online and weighed less than one pound)

I posted the url before you did, for people to use. You can keep repeating yourself all you want. you still got owned, and saying I wont let it die, when you keep bringing it back up, just makes you look more foolish. Dust yourself off and move on son. You cant change reality.

/ranting over I promise I just really don't want people to blindly think they can ship a slabbed book to canada with tracking and only charge people $12 you will be in for an unpleasant surprise once you actually go to ship it and you lose out on $10+ <3

no one cares whether you rant nonsense or not. No one blindly ships anything. I posted the USPS links for calculating, not you. Some people can ship for close to $12, depends on where they are, and where they are shipping too. Everyone should include Canada as it does have tracking to the door from USPS, and it doesnt cost anywhere near $35 some people were claiming.

You need to shut the FRAK up and let go of the fact you got taken to the woodshed. Move on little boy and quit trolling.

Priority to Canada on 2lbs is $24.51 regardless of where you live in the US. If you use the mobile app on the USPS site, they don't even bother to ask for a zip code as it is irrelevant. First class shipping is cheaper, but NOT trackable. I honestly can't believe you are having such a hard time grasping this. Again...1st class does *NOT* count.

seriously you've been proved wrong multiple times by multiple people here Eisley... can you not get the idea that you were mistaken, learn something new and move on? you are misinformed in your stance, and are spouting nonsense that is 100% incorrect. I was more than nice about it the first time, have remained nice about it the second time. I will remain nice about it yet again because I have no reason to sour my name here. so I'll put money where my mouth is on top of it:

fact one: if you are shipping a package between 1 oz and 1 lb to anywhere in canada from anywhere in the US via priority mail (non-flat rate) it will cost you at minimum $22.09

fact two: if you are shipping a package between 1 lb 1 oz and 2 lbs to anywhere in canada from anywhere in the US via priority mail (non-flat rate) it will cost you at minimum $25 (it might be $24 and change printed online actually I'm not bothering to pull it back up again)

fact three: no flat rate priority mail options for cheaper than $20 can fit a comic book (raw or slabbed) going from US to canada (assuming you wish to keep it in nice condition and don't want to fold it in half a a few times)

fact four: you can ship comic books/records/books/shirts/etc for anywhere from $5-12 via first class international to Canada (which I do have a LOT of experience in doing as I run a small record label, music distribution as well as handle merchandise for a few bands) - however those do NOT contain tracking of any sort and thus would not protect you at all when it comes to paypal/ebay - if you want tracking see fact one, two or three (or with some packages you can pay a $12 upgrade to add registered mail service)

I just counted for my own curiosity since June 1st I've shipped out 88 packages internationally, 18 of which have been to Canada... how many packages have you mailed from the US to Canada recently again? feel free to go to http://www.usps.com and calculate rates for yourself to Canada you will get the exact same results as everyone else who is telling you that you are completely wrong.

go ahead and show us an example zipcode/weight of a priority mail package non flat rate (or a flat rate priority option to canada that could safely ship a comic with proper protection) from the US to Canada that costs less than $20 hell I'll even paypal you $5 if you can prove me wrong Eisley.

  6. I just can't let it go.... lol

if i was wrong, i'd have trouble letting it go too...

flatrate boxes are obviously a flat rate and the same everywhere, others are not. not going to debate it any further, my links and points stand for themselves. Plus my experience every day.

your links prove the point that you were WRONG about what you said. jesus sorry to keep harping on about stupid shipping costs to Canada in this thread, but you are further misinforming people about the "urban myths about shipping to Canada"

rest of the post under the spoiler for those that don't care to read about canada shipping

as someone else mentioned before the seller is eating charges. I just did shipping from the same zipcode you posted the tracking for to canada for a 2 lb priority mail package (non-flat rate) and it comes up to $25 so if the seller is charging $19 they are losing out on $6 + the cut paypal takes out if you paid $12 or $13 whichever you said you paid for shipping the seller ate the other $12-13

edit to add: if it weighed half that it'd still be $23

those are NOT flat rate charges I was quoting it was ANY 2 lb package and any 1 LB package directly from the zipcode you provided a link to a tracked package for to canada.

  7. Those sellers didn't have tracking and took a big risk if it was an ebay transaction. I'd hook a boardie up with cheaper shipping but no way would I do that on ebay.

For priority with tracking, the prices I quoted are the prices. Go to USPS.com and use the international shipping calculator if you don't believe me.

I use it all the time, I posted a link to it earlier. right after I posted the link of the $19 dollar shipping on the ToT #1 CGC 9.6

    https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input?strOrigTrackNum=CF000978159US

which DID have tracking(the link clearly shows), as i already said, cost depends on where you are. So, like the other guys said...4 pages of this, time to move on.

Just doing my part to dispel these Canada shipping urban legends.

as someone else mentioned before the seller is eating charges.

  8. shipping to canada WITH tracking is pricey and I would not sell anything on ebay without it personally.

its a thieves paradise if you don't ship with tracking and a lot of buyers are too naive (*at least has been my experience with lower priced items) to understand why the huge shipping cost for the items and a lot of times - ends up getting taken out on the seller even if the person agreed to the higher shipping cost.

I always offer to ship internationally for buyers if they mail me to ask - however I have never had a person yet be ok with paying for priority mail service internationally or first class international + registered mail ($11 tack on fee) granted I usually point out that for the low cost items we typically sell (rarely anything over $50) it doesn't make sense to pay $20-30 shipping on them.

if we sold much higher priced items regularly ($250+) I imagine a lot of perspective buyers might not care as much and be ok with the higher fees for shipping - anyone who buys and sells regularly to other countries typically knows what to expect costwise.

    - that is my reason for only offering US shipping on my listings - I've never just shot someone down who mails to inquire about international shipping - and would actually ship international it just becomes a pain having to explain the costs/why they are what they are each and every time (especially on $5-20 items) - so its easier to say no up front and if anyone mails to inquire work with them from there

    /rambling

  9. Sorry for your loss.

    lol

Thanks for the welcome guys. :)

seconded! been joined up for just a little while myself now...started by lurking for a solid year almost.... already had a bit of the speculation bug (mostly just quick flips for a few bucks weekly to fund the comics we buy for ourselves personally)

that slight itch turns to a full on fever quick.... with that said, welcome to the boards!!

  10. Anyone else picking up 97, 98, and 99 second prints? I still need my 100 second prints. Every copy my LCS received had color-breaking spine creases (and his retailed appreciation cover was so profoundly damaged that it looked like it was intentional). I can't believe that I'm still buying multiple copies of these books! lol

Ordered a few, what the heck.

I grabbed 3 of each - for no real reason than to add them to the pile of other walking dead stuff I'm not sure why I've bought and will hopefully sort itself out at some point in the future when I'm not too scatterbrained to actually do so. was already grabbing some stuff on midtown anyway so tacked em on

  11. had a friend in Michigan who is visiting later this week pick up 5 copies of #2 when she went out today just in case I had no luck.

ended up with 5 copies of #2 locally, and 4 nice copies of #1 1st print.

not quite enough to pair with the #1s we have, but pleased because I forgot to order a bunch off midtown last week before it sold out and ended up kicking myself.

  12. I have noticed a handful of books trending up in just the last few months. These include recent moderns and a splattering of variants that have impressed me dollar wise for whatever reason.

    Spawn #222 Variant - $160+

    Revival #1 SDCC - $80+

    NYX #3 - $70+

    Batman 608 2nd Print - $60+

    Peter Panzerfaust #1 - $55+

    Thief of Thieves #1 - $55+

    Avengers Vs X-Men #1 babies variant - $50+

    Revival #1 1:10 - $35+

    Batman: Vengence of Bane #1 - $35+

    Revival #1 Awesome Variant - $30+

    Manhattan Projects #1 - $25+

    Daredevil #2 -$20+

    Detective Comics #1 - $20+

    Batman #492 Platinum - $20+

    Batman #1 (2011) - $20+

    Nightwing #4 (2011) - $20+

    X-O Manowar #1:20 - $18+

    Daredevil #8 - $15+

    Batman #4 - $10+

Also, I have noticed that the Valiant rebirth has caused some interest in the old 1991 copies to start trending up as well. In particular the following books are selling very fast:

    Harbinger #1 (1991) - $35+

    X-O Manowar #3 1:20 - $20+

    X-O Manowar #4 (1991) - $10+

The list was compiled from The Market. (thumbs u If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on how to make this engine even better for finding trends be sure to let me know!

I'm surprised how much the avengers vs xmen #1 Skottie Young variants are selling for. They were only $10 limit 1 per customer on the Midtown comics site a week ago. Guess there out of stock now.

they were around $5.60 in previews prior to that and could order as many as you wanted disappointed I only got three and one was for a friend

  13. This is my first spoiler question from issue one (I re-read today)...

Did you notice that the alien thing said where's the baby in weird alien speak? What are your thoughts on that? I totally dug granny coming back in the second issue preview.

I mention this about 12 pages back and think it went unnoticed. Maybe the baby was an Alien and was first to land (crash) and caused all these events. I think someone mentioned that t might have meant Cooper but I would think he was to old to be classed as a baby.

Sorry I missed your original comment on this. Another thought is that "he" could be just repeating what he's heard. We'll see. Issue 2 looks awesome.

^ this is what I thought happened. I thought he was just mimicing

  14. I would have probably ended up getting the police called on me and bailing.

tempers and dealing with jerks is never a good combo!

its one thing if he approached you about it ", we were suppose to pull those and reprice them all last week. they were suppose to go up to $70 - would you mind just taking the one copy for $10?"

I mean I'd be a little bummed I wanted two copies, but fair enough they screwed up - I'm not there to try to bone them. I'd go about my business and be happy with the one

but to outright change the price in front of you and then tell you the new price without even so much as asking or telling you what is going on? screw that! - and the comment as you were leaving

  15. There was a Diamond allocation issue with Uncanny X-force #4. I forget the situation.

Ton of damages too. East coast shops were spared ( at least NE )

I just called my rep to get the skinny, but it was feast or famine from day one.

ShopS got them or they didn't. Print run means nothing, if books are trashed in transit.

that makes a lot more sense then. I remember when I first looked around I couldn't find any proof of lower print runs and saw similar numbers to what was posted above. trashed/damaged copies makes sense.

a lot of the dark angel saga issues have been holding a decent/steady price for a while now also and seem to be in steady demand we just completed our run (minus a few variants) last week and am glad to have finally caught up on the series!

  16. Uncanny X-Force #4 has been the hottest book in the run for quite some time now. (excluding a couple variants like the 1 per store #1 party variant) - after issues 1-3 print runs got cut dramatically - as they basically didn't think anyone liked it/wasn't ordered well. there might be more to it that I'm not aware of, but i anyone could reference approximate print runs - might help out - its just what I've always heard/been told

  17. I got the regular cover from 3 different sources. All 3 have had a slight problem. The one from my lcs was not flat when laying flat (if that makes sense), one from ebay had a bum corner where the entire corner and all the pages were bent completely (though no color breaking), and another from midtown with the same problem as the latter yet a different corner.

Was there a bad shipment of these by chance? (shrug)

that is how 6 of the 10 copies I got from midtown are. top left hand corner on the spine totally bent corner where all pages inside were bent as well (no color breaks either)

I decided to just keep them as they didn't respond to my e-mail for "what to do if things arrived damaged" and will just sell them as reader copies if there is an uptick in price ;x
