  1. The general rule is that if it looks like doo-doo before cleaning and still looks like doo-doo after cleaning . . . you've lost time in your life that you will never recover.
  2. What's the copy's history? Could be some trimming involved also.
  3. Wow - all those grades are too high. What are you guys/gals smokin'???
  4. Question: Was Jack left-handed?
  5. I suppose that's the new way they may handle it, but I've seen 3.0 green labels (at some point in time) if I'm not mistaken. There is a great thread about this in the grading and restoration forum.
  6. BTW, it looks like a 9.2 to me - spine crease and thumb indent LRFC. What are the dots all along the BC spine? Printer defect?
  7. But . . . I have not seen them on modern books - only newsprint. So, I may be entirely wrong. What I am describing looks like origami.
  8. No, it's a manufacturing defect. They are not just folded interior pages. There caused by folds before the newsprint is cut. I have seen these on multiple occasions over the years, but never thought to take a picture of it.
  9. They do look like butterflies . . . I think it's a very good description. And note, if you have a book with one - DO NOT TRIM IT!
  10. No, it would get whatever color label they give amateur restored junk - sorry.
  11. And what ten-year old doesn't have a popsicle stick . . .
  12. It depends on the age and condition of the book. They must however, be removed and replaced.
  13. There is no such thing as a "cameo" if the character has not appeared already somewhere in comics. Must we continue to use the word incorrectly?
  14. If the price is right, I would buy the lot. It may take a bit of work on your part, but it will pay off. Just isolate the books with questionable aromas from your other inventory - do not integrate. As to, "Every bad book is a threat to the seller's reputation." - Not if your descriptions are accurate - Good luck. And btw, who better to handle this?
  15. At various times through their history CGC's graders have "screwed the pooch" on a grade here and there. These books get sold over and over again, as no one in their right (fiscal) mind would pay up for that grade in the upper right corner, only to receive a book that was a full grade under that mark . . .
  16. I personally, don't think this is acceptable. The problem should be dealt with when first recognized - these shouldn't be going out the door like this.
  17. Years ago, there was a boardie who dumped all of his overgraded or "discount" books here on the boards, and refused refunds.
