  1. The price is why I don't buy them from a local comic shop. You can still get them for $2.99 or less from the mega comic stores. Doesn't change the fact that unless it has a good 1st or becomes a hot cover you are losing $ on it. Like a new car, soon as you drive it off the lot. Can only store so many books. I am going to get back in the game. I haven't bought a new comic in years. All speculation books and maybe treat myself to a regular series or 2 that has good people working on it if that is still possible. Will share my spec advice with those interested haha Hey Arch, Are these two the same guy? Perhaps you can do a digital DNA check on them.
  2. Oopsie, a typo at best Still qualifies for my thread - A 20-year old book is not a "modern!"
  3. Got tired of paying attention, and if it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell. And it encourages many buyers who don't care to get in a bidding war.
  4. It's a pretty innovative monotone - almost Ditko-esque.
  5. Perhaps, but like most of us here . . . we've sold our copies.
  6. It's a hideous cover I have to agree . . . even if I was buying Caps during this period, I would have skipped on this one

  8. WTH is going on here? They are talking about books released TODAY! in the "Moderns heating up" thread. Oy! Let's get this thread up and running again.
  9. Doing what? Rebounding? That book has sold off a lot from its highs.... Selling for peanuts . . .

  11. And furthermore . . . I think the next page really cements this:
  12. Really? I have never met a collector (or dealer) who would prefer to have a Web of Spider-Man # 18 or 24 over an ASM # 299. Don't get around much, eh?
  13. Only continuity-wise... before the earlier backstory was told about how it came to be imprisoned in that machine (plus whatever earlier nonsense Marvel has published in the last two decades). The first appearance of the black costume is ASM 252. As I've said before . . . it's anyone of the foregoing issues mentioned above (if I have one and I'm selling it!)
  14. By the BIG numbers in the upper-left corner of the slabs, of course
  15. This is me. I always buy the whole lot of them based on two things: 1) the collections haven't been cherry-picked; and 2) condition-condition-condition. I freaking hate looking through boxes that have been once-twice-three times looked-over. I'd never buy a collection that The Blob has had his hands on . . .
  16. So I should list my (2) 9.9s and all of the 9.8s I used to own (at outrageous prices) just to draw viewers for my other books?
  17. A bit snarky, no? . . . that's all I ever do. Obviously, you don't have kids, mortgage, college loans etc. Yes, comics are a selfish endeavor for me (and I would wager - everyone here.) Space is a choice, not a cost.
