the dealer was trying to low ball you for the red labels. red labels are in high demand. I have several in my collection. Specially if grades are VF or VF/NM. Like some mentioned collectors seek red labels for crack/press/regrade.

the pandemic and pre-pandemic brought a wave of comic book influencers and new youtubers trying to cash in on the new wave rookie collectors. modern stuff is straight out over hype.

I enter the game in 2000. Yes all the Baker stuff was cheap. Few knew about Matt Baker the artist. My first-time discovering Baker was through comics. Always have been a big fan of GGA. Quickly I discover Baker OA and ones I purchased my first Matt Baker OA piece I got hook and the hunt began. I love the books but OA it's something else.

When I join eBay 2000 after my first Gateway Computer which cost me $1.5k with 15GB hard drive 🥴. Login into America Online and hearing “You Got Mail” sweet memory. Dial Modem 😁 I started collecting late 90’s at that point I didn’t drive and the small conventions I attended were very limited. Ones I join eBay everything change 😳 I could reach and find more stuff it was like going to Toy R uS- My collecting when to another level. So much stuff and lots of key books and OA. Also it was the beginning of CGC and the beginning of Marvel movies. It was a great time to be in the hobby. So much sweet deals every night.

Most likely. I strongly believe Kamen benefit a lot by inking Baker babes. I put Baker above Kamen when it comes to GGA.
