  1. The next 9.8 will get listed after these 2 9.6s go for around 700 each. These books going for a lot only solidifys the 9.8 being 1800-2K books.
  2. Prices tend to fall online when it's convention season then go back up in the winter months. I've already seen ASM 300 hit 1000, but it's not the norm yet. For books that are treading water or not trending upward, like...Walking Dead books, absolutely thats how it works during convention season. Sorry if that offends anyone about the WD comment, I know that gets everyone's panties in a bunch over in the Modern version of this thread. ASM 300 is the complete opposite in that its a key copper book trending up before the movie news this past month. Prices may be under 1000.00 in a face to face con transaction or something like it, but its hard to imagine the days of finding this book for $675 or so every once in a while sticking around.
  3. Its hard not to see ASM 300 CGC 9.8 being a $1000.00 book very soon, especially with the big con season coming up. Anyone last bunch of auctions are in the 800-850 range, and if that one going on CL tomorrow night goes for 900+, it wouldn't be a surprise.
  4. Brilliant collection. My second favorite cover of all time, only to Batman 404. I looked forever for a CGC 9.8, and found it on a random eBay search about a year ago with overpriced BIN, and haven't seen one since. Again, great collection, thank you for sharing.
  5. Can someone shed some light on the increased pricing on Batman 612? Is it the regular cover that is getting the job done, or the sketch variant? Thank you.
  6. If there is a cooler way to spend 100 minutes in the mid eighties as a 13 year old boy, I don't know it.
  7. Why wouldn't they be? Today's parents grew up watching GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Transformers cartoons. Exactly. Parents already know what they are getting into with a film like GoTG. And knowing is half the battle,
  8. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any AMC original series "hits" before Walking Dead came along, so maybe lightning strikes? Really? Mad Men, Breaking Bad. Never watched either. That's why I said "off the top of my head" Try getting your head out of your ?
  9. Does buying books from your brother really count? Jim Wow talk about not reading what I wrote... You said you bought a book from your brother, what did I misinterpret? Your other book didn't show up with a scan? Jim Wanna read that last sentence I wrote one more time? Starting with "Picked this up for Comicartfan" Let me answer that for him: no, he doesn't. :
  10. When are you going to get all huffy again and stomp out of this thread? It's hands down the only stuff you post that's worth reading.
  11. If you want one, and don't already have one, you live on *spoon* Mars.
  12. Well, maybe. The problem with monopolies is that they are created by circumstance, that is, it's not necessarily what the market will bear, but what the consumer will bear in terms of acceptable choices. Your choices disappear many times over when, as it was mentioned in this thread already, CGC engages in acts to manage your ability to make a choice, like engaging in marketing agreements with vendors and retailers across the board, making it legally impossible for other companies that want to be in the business of grading comics to gain any sort of marketshare, which allows consumers to enjoy the results of competing businesses. The problem is that, at least in this industry, nothing has to change: this isn't regulated by any law, which serves as the basis for those cases you read about between Microsoft and whoever. In the end, I really don't believe "we created it," but I also believe that it was completely inevitable, considering the (lack of) circumstances to stop it.
  13. At this point, the interesting part of the whole walking dead phenomenon isnt the book itself going for thousands and is now on its way down, it's how many people chased every single image #1 issue after walking dead hit it big, and have been burned 100% of the time. Just crazy.
  14. Bought a Marvel Graphic Novel 3 and 4, and a Preacher 12 bagged from Mike. This is my second transaction with him and the success of the first sale with him is the reason I came back to the well. Great transaction, books arrived fast, safe, and in better condition than described. Will deal with anytime.
  15. You jumped the shark, man. 'Bout 6 posts back. You. Jumped. That. Mother. .
  16. Pretty sure this is what Broke As A Joke was referring to. You keep grinding out that rent money, Joe. It's noble work you're doing. (thumbs u
  17. Off topic somewhat, but heads up on that seller. I left the negative feedback in his feedback section, due to him listing (with pics) a certain SW 1, and then sending me different SW1 except it was horribly centered and just looked lousy. He refused to speak to me about it until I filed a complaint and got my $$$ back. He still sell those books, so just be aware what you are getting into if you deal with him. Go ahead and list the auction please. Guy is 100% FB Seller & Toolhaus shows he hasn't had any issues since 2005. Not saying you aren't wrong, you just cant drop something like that in here on a seller without some proof. You are looking at the wrong listing and seller. The link from whetteon opens up a SW 107 CGC 9.8. If you look to the top of that listing, there is a link for the SW 1 CGC 9.8. The SW 1 CGC 9.8 is the auction I won and had the issues with the seller ter*mand - he doesn't have 100% feedback. The seller I was referencing did not have any issues in his feedback in 2005. Here is the auction I won and got the runaround on: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-comic-1-CGC-Graded-9-8-WHITE-PAGES-SUPER-RARE-1st-Print-LOW-PRICE-/201006034648 Here is a outline of what the issue was (this is what I posted with regard to the claim I opened with ebay: In the meantime following my full refund, the seller has threatened me with a whole bunch of mess and all the rest of the stuff that comes with dealing with scam artists. I believe I saw the seller doing the exact same thing after the case was closed with ebay, listing a SW 1 CGC 9.8, and using pics of "the good one" (#0976602004), which in hindsight, he may or may own, or even have in his possession at all. I have never dealt with the seller of the SW 107 CGC 9.8., and my comments are and were not directed to that seller in any way. All I am trying to do is give a heads up to other bronze age collectors on a seller that presents a real chance to have to waste what is my most limited resource, time, and save people the headache.

  19. On a channel that couldn't deliver the hype of the new Dr. Who to the states. Have you been to any conventions lately...? I see more Dr Who costumes than just about anything else. I can't help but doubt the executive producers of PP are pinning their hopes and dreams to anyone wearing a Dr. Who costume at whatever rando convention you are referring to.

  21. make sense "bro", and feel free to demonstrate how i am not "settled". However, if you are just mindlessly trying to pick sides in a debate not involving you, and going with who you like/relate to, then refer to fastballspecial's post Fine, you win the internets. How about taking war this to PM, or another thread, or anywhere but here, or just shut up.
  22. when you've run out of points to make, and have no answers, change the subject. (thumbs u I'll keep questioning things, pushing for discussion and debate, and generally helping people. If others want to try and squelch other people's opinions by trying to claim who is or isn't "allowed to post", or try to talk down any discussion of suspicious auctions lest more people become educating on possible ways to shill, etc etc.... well hey...good luck with that (thumbs u It's certainly not going to work with me. settle down bro
