  1. steve187 Buyer bought books, claimed books were damaged while shipped and sent them straight back. I requested pictures of the damage and would have let him keep the books with a full refund. Buyer stated you'll see when you get them and didn't provide the tracking number. The buyer opened a case stated he didn't receive a refund 3 days after shipping the books back. I received the books back 7 days after he claimed he shipped them. We received the package of 7 books and 4 were opened and 3 were not. (Harley Poly Bag issues). When calling eBay the second time, they stated the buyer bought the same issues from other sellers prior to my listing and mine was the only one returned. Stated the return policy that the buyer had to request an RMA number before any return is accepted, (buyer violated) on the listing stated there are 20% restocking fees. ebay in the provides full refund to the buyer. *the 3 poly bag were our books, but the ones sent back not in the poly bag had an indentation where the sealed bags didn't have it. Reported buyer to eBay
  2. Not a problem. I tried several scanners so this was it for me on the balance of price, quality and performance but not many people will want to fork over the $$$ for this scanner. Just glad I have one that performs great and is fast enough to do front and back scans quickly when you have stacks of books to go through.
  3. Here's an example of a thick case so you can see the quality.
  4. How does it work on GA slabs? Those are the slabs that can cause problems for the HP 8300 and similar scanners, apparently because of their thickness. Even for GA slabs it works out perfect. I had one but haven the scan anymore. Sorry most of the books we have are modern/silver. If you were just talking about the thick cases in general I have a few books that I can scan later today.
  5. So I've done some research and never reported back. The basic synopsis is that most modern scanners use technology called CIS which makes constructing the scanner relatively cheap. The problem is that if the item being scanned is not directly on the glass you will get a blurring of the image. The other unfortunately problem is that 95% of all the new scanners made nowadays is CIS technology. Due to the fact that we have a business doing a 9.8 grading service, we got tired of taking photographs of the slabs and wanted something more efficient and better. So we forked the cash over and purchased an EPSON DS-50000. Not cheap, but super quick and we can get through piles of slabbed books in a matter of minutes. CIS Tech: Xenon Tech: Othwise you can't beat the old technology of cold cathode ray tube scanners. The only inefficiency is the time it takes to scan just 1 side. I can literally scan both sides of a slab in a couple of seconds.
  6. So what's would be the perceived value of the book if there was only a handful that were graded 9.8? I think last time i checked there were only 8 or 9 graded.
  7. watch out for buyer "thetruehunter" he bought an ASM 194 cgc 9.6 and once shipped he left negative feedback about shaken comic book syndrome and an air bubble in the case. Even thought front and back scans of all books are provided and he didn't want to return the book or a refund and just a negative feedback to lower my 100% rating.
  8. I have 2 copies that are 9.8 worthy without the marks and they are both the sketch and inked copies by J. Scott Campbell The other copies though I can feel the dent above the top staple.
  9. Possibly, but they can't get the book from the seller if he doesn't send it. Comiclink has the same problem... if the seller doesn't agree to the price (even if it's a "buy-it-now" price) within a day or so, then the sale doesn't go through. So they don't have to send it in to consign it? Apparently not. Once I "purchased" the book, I received an e-mail from ComicConnect stating they had contacted the seller to have the book shipped to them . So the book(s) apparently stay in the seller's hands until they actually sell. Just curious, but doing some research, would people prefer to have a place that requires them to ship a book to the consignment place before it's made available for sale or the traditional shop where it's "advertised" and when a sale is made, the seller has to ship to the consignment shop? Ship first and post for sale? vs. Post for sale and then ship when sold?
  10. Are you including shipping in the price? That's usually what the "shipped" bit means. Yeah I get what it means, I asked the question to draw out the answer to show the disingenuous nature of what's being said. If Turd Man comics sells for $3.99 on eBay, and some clown has $6.00 shipping, it doesn't mean FMV on the book is $10. I realize most of you want to pump up the prices on these worthless modern speculation books, but geez, let's try and be a bit more honest here. When are you going to find FMV on ebay...you have to include what you paid for the entire comic for future sales unless you want to lose money. A comic that's being sold for $10 free shipping and on for $3.99 and $6.01 shipping are being sold for the same price if the sellers shipping cost is $6.01. This is a glass half full/empty discussion so pointless. Does anyone ever actually but just one cheap comic on eBay? Actually yes quite a few people often do from me which I don't understand. When you buy a book that costs $3.50 and I charge $4.00 for shipping why not buy another comic to make it worth it.
  11. fantasyug -stated the item wasn't in the condition and did a claim in paypal. fails to return the item. no communication afterwards.
  12. Ahh... go buy the combo packs for me. I'll throw in a beer on top of price and shipping...
  13. 4 stores and no combo-pack. But I do have 1 Spider Gwen 4 variant and 5 Secret Wars Action Figure covers.
  14. Btw, is that Aquaman's trident and Wonder Woman's lasso? Aquaman's Trident, Wonder Woman's lasso, Batman's belt, Superman's cape... Ah I missed the cape and the belt... good catch.
  15. Btw, is that Aquaman's trident and Wonder Woman's lasso?
  16. Hey that's Magic Mike, not Chippendales.... (wife corrects me as well...)
  17. The earlier you drop them off the quicker you'll get them back. Every time I've gone the CGC table isn't really crowded at all Ah nice... first time I'll have books graded onsite, usually I have someone go to a con that does it. I have a stack of Boba's to get graded, but I wasn't planning on listing them for $300 as others suggested. I was happy to do $110 and presold a few to board members. Maybe I'll throw a couple up there higher but i'm curious if I drop it off on Thursday and get them back at least Fri, i'll post a book up for a 3 day auction to see what it ends at.
  18. Collusion would be the best way. We all agree to list them for no less than $300 each let's keep it above board sir! () I'm just going to start a 24 hour auction later tonight and see where it ends up. Listed a high BIN in the meantime. I'm starting 1 item tomorrow for a 5 day auction since it will end on Sunday and I can ship it out on Monday. Although I'll have more than 1 but it will be interesting to see what it will end at. Does con grading hold the books until Sunday to release or do they release the books as they get graded?
  19. What was the cost on his site for the graded book? I dont' remember that as an option...
  20. ' And you were only charged $8.50? If so, guess he is picking up some slack with our monies. Nothing on you, BTW. Just making a statement. -slym Sorry I should have clarified, I had 2 orders so each were 8.50 for a total of $17.00. By the way, the bottom of the box had no padding for a stack of books and some packing materials on the top to fill the space. Each book just floating in the box.
  21. Yea mine were shipped UPS and the shipping price was on the label, it came around $16.50
  22. Actually I am. I sold a couple already and will be selling a few more before putting them on ebay.
  23. I'm selling a few at $110... 9.8 blue label...haha
  24. Unless you are shipping Priority, it's illegal to use their material. which is why all the stuff I get has chopped up Priority boxes used as cardboard support. I'll admit I'm guilty of it. It's free materials and until I get to a point where I'll have customized backing board I'll be using USPS materials. Unless it's slabs, I always get priority materials stuffed in boxes and envelopes unfortunately.
