  1. Are your posts really supposed to mean anything or are they just puff pieces about how much money and brains you think you have? Are you looking for a girlfriend on here? I swear to God every post I see from you lately talks about your extended vacation and how little under your income you spend on comics and whatever. Do you not get enough attention outside of comics or something? I usually don't respond to someone's posts like this but I have had about enough of your lengthy soliliques on your self and limited knowledge of comics. It is annoying.
  2. Yeah - I would like to know who pays that kind of price for a book like that but Josh guards that kind of info pretty closely!
  3. I spoke with Josh this afternoon and knew the book had sold for that much even before old greggy did! Well sold greggy - excellenty posted! Don't tell ComicInv. though - we will get a lenghty discussion about the fool that paid that for it and the ethics of selling the book at that price!
  4. Yeah - if you look at some of those Schomburg war covers just imagine what he could do today! The Torch burning up a guy with a diaper on his head or namor pulverizing a retarded looking Saddam or something. That comic book company that published anything like that today would probably be put out of business by all the lawsuits from the various offended parties.
  5. La-tee-taaa! What kind of talk is that for a grown man - or Thanos?
  6. yeah - i long ago tired of calling on their web site books - and don't even try to negotiate the price of a book! The price is whatever random mark they seem to chose - and that is it. I guess they are used to dealing with just 2 kinds of people - those who don't know that everything is negotiable and those with so much $$ they don't care. I frankly don't see how you stay in business very long like that.
  7. I don't doubt it all! I have heard similiar stories about the "big time" sellers - in the last 20 years it was supposedly somewhat ok to " fix up" books and sell them to the unwitting buyer as i have heard from very knowledgeable sources. The big change came in the last few years - especially with cgc. i think that is part of what gets Comic keys going -it used to be kind of ok. Cgc has killed the value of those restored books and it has probably hurt a lot of unwitting purchasers. That brings you back to the ethics and legality of selling a touched up book to someone thinking that they are buying an unrestored book.
  8. I bought a lot of mid grade 6.5 to 8.5 books when cgc first started because I did not think you would see books in 9.2 and above on a regualr basis. I have upgraded on many of those books and have had no trouble in selling the mid grade books at a profit - so there is obviously a strong Market for reasonably priced mid grade Marvel silver. It is hard to get above guide prices though for any book with a cgc grade of 8.0 or less unless it is one of those hard to find books like Spidey 11 of FF 13 or something.
